You don't know me, and I don't know you: Keep it that way. 

Most of this, you're not going to believe, but it happened. 

I don't live like most people do, and neither do my three roommates. 

We're... 

well, the less said the better, right now. 

Let's just say this: when we soar, we do it literally.

We don't have easy lives: never have, never will. Life just sucks that way sometimes, y'know?

I rolled over, staring up at the ceilinge: another day... another mess.

I sat up, stretching a kink out of my back, then scratched my hair, the spikes all squashed to one side from tossing and turning all night.

I slowly lowered my feet to the floor, still rubbing the sleep from my eyes, then shuffled off to the bathroom: It might have been 6 am, but ,as oldest, it was my job to get everyone up at a fairly decent hour.

I turned on the shower full blast, gasping at the sudden cold before the heater kicked on; nothing better than a hot shower on a chilly morning.

Washing my hair, I gently arched my shoulders, allowing my glossy black wing to unfurl a bit, the heated water feeling good on it.

After drying off, I threw on my favorite STFU @ GTFO shirt and some semi-clean jeans, then headed down the hall to get Sora up.

Riku flew on, loving the feel of the wind, free....

He soared on towards the coast, needing a pit stop: his wing muscles ached, and he needed a rest. 

The lighthouse overlooking the crashing waves was his favorite place to rest: dangling his feet over the edge, hundreds of feet above the rage of water below, the ancient rock stretching into the sky...

But, however, someone else was already sitting there, wings folded tight against his bare back, practicing squats in the morning light like some cheesy Patrick Swayze scene. 

" Zack Fair, you stupid ass. This si mt spot. " Riku said, landing with a soft thud on the balls of his feet. 

" Good spot..." Zack said, doing yet another set of squats, the cross and rose tattoo on his chest seeming to glow in the light.

" Don't you exercise enough?" Riku teased, watching with amusement. 

Zack stood, and thumped his abs. " Gotta keep the belly up for the ladies."

" Really?" 

Riku swung around, delivering a roundhouse kick to Zack's stomach, a movement that would have killed a human...

But only made Zack grunt. 

" Not cool, bro. "

Riku grinned. " Whatever. "

" Get me...something...now!"

Roxas had started bucking, crying out, hands scrabbling at Sora. 

Kairi ran up with a wooden bar she'd gotten from god knew where, and Sora carefully got it between Roxas's teeth, exactly at the moment he bit down hard. 

" Kairi... we're gonna have to do something... he's gonna..."

" Sora, don't even firetrucking say it!

Sora looked at her straight on, holding down Roxas's bucking shoulders. 

" He's gonna die if we don't do SOMETHING!"

" Anyone ever tell you you're a major dickwad, Riku?" Zack asked, rubbing his stomach. 

" Anyone ever tell you you're a whiner, Zack?" 

He stretched, arching his back, then took off his shirt, his belly and back rippling with muscles. 

" How's the water?"

" Cold." 

Riku grinned, and looked over the edge of the lighthouse: about 100 feet down, the waves crashed against the rocks, whitecaps spilling forth. 

" Only live once, bitch. " Riku said, tipping a wink at Zack.

Zack flipped him off. 

Riku swan dived down, folding his wings back as he sped towards the rocks, seas foam spraying him. 

At the last second, he flipped them open ,and danced along the top of the water at a short clip, plunging into the salty water with a smooth splash. 

It was a good day.

Kairi lost it.

Letting loose a scream, she sank to the ground in a heap, sobbing.

Sora left Roxas long enough to tug at Kairi, her body shaking from her heaving sobs.

" Goddamitt, don't you go soft on me! Don't you do it, you stupid BITCH!"

He slapped her, hard, across the face, the usual treatment for hysterics, but she only sobbed harder.

Letting out a frustrated moan, Sora rushed back to Roxas, who had partially yanked open his wound by flailing around on the couch, blood spotting the white fabric in gory drips and daubles, Roxas rambling on and on about the moon, and silver wings flying into fire.

" Goddammitt, someone HELP!"

Roxas bucked again, screaming and moaning. 

Sora tried to sponge his head with a damp cloth, but he started slapping him, screaming about flying monkeys. 

Kairi screamed in the corner, crying and dribbling everywhere, being no damn use, her stupid boom box blaring on in the next room, Benny Goodmans's Sing, Sing, Sing not adding to the tone of the scene. 

Then..it got bad, real bad. 

Roxas tore at his wrists, the skin breaking in crimson rivlets, his body arching. 

He gurgled, blood drooling over his lips. 

Then...he stilled, with a long, drawn out gasp. 

Sora stared for a moment, than began to cry:

Roxas was dead.

" NOO!" 

The scream echoed through the room, more a screech than the sound of a human. 

" He's not dead, he's not dead, he's not dead, he's not..."

Sora turned, tears on his cheeks: he had no words. 

He knew that this was it: with one of them dead, they were open to attack or worse.

They'd have to leave.
