Questions On Creating a Manga....

So I am writing a sort-of Fanfiction of Kingdom Hearts that I've been doing for 3 years (I put a lot thought to it) and it will be in a style of a Manga. But I have a few questions about it:

 

1. How do I sketch in a manga style? I have tried it so many times but have a hard time...I have my characters, but how do you sketch them for a manga? I can sketch anime, but I have a hard time posing my characters.

 

2. This story will be more serious. Like not gorey or anything like that. There will be things in my story that will have a big impact on the story later on. I will have fights in the story that will injure me greatly like scars and bleeding. It's not going overboard for a fanfiction right?

 

3. I will have different relationships with the girls in my story and I really would like to develop them in a deep way. There will be a times were it will have fanservice-ish parts, but I don't want them to be overly sexual. How do you know how to level parts like this in a fanfiction were it is not overtly all over the place, but is still making the point that the writer is trying to make?

 

4. My final question. Since this is a fanfiction of Kingdom Hearts. How do you go about using characters from different series but not taking from it greatly to where it's just like the original?

Btw, a manga-styled fanfiction might be called a doujinshi.  Fanfiction implies strictly written work.

 

1: There's no one "manga style."  There are certain conventions you tend to see across the medium, but nothing's stopping you from making it as serious-looking as Ghost In the Shell or as cutesy as Azumanga Daioh, except how too cutesy or too serious might not be appropriate for the story you want to tell.  Make the style however you feel is appropriate.  If you have trouble posing, there are a gazillion guides online.  I typed "pose tutorial" on deviantART's search and got almost 14,000 results.

 

2: Honestly that is tame compared to what I've seen other fanfic writers do.  There's nothing wrong with making your story more serious or silly compared to the source material as long as it doesn't butcher things too much.

 

3: Please do so.  They deserve it.  My question is why you need fanservice at all.  If you just want fanservice for fanservice's sake then I can't stop you.  I don't understand your question of "how to level parts like this in a fanfiction," like there's apparently some standard rule for it.  Dude, some fanfics are good and some of them are pointless smut.  If you're worried about the fanservice getting in the way, ask yourself "can I take this scene out and have the point intact?" or "can I accomplish what I'm trying to do in a non-fanservicey way?" My personal opinion is to save yourself trouble and undo the fanservice as a whole.  It has negative connotations, anyway.

 

4: That's tougher because it depends on what characters you're using.  Technically, anything goes in fanfiction, but the question you should be asking yourself is "Can I do this/am I allowed to do this?" because the answer is always yes.  The answer you really should ask is, "Is this a good idea?  How will (not) including this impact my story?"  You'll have to think about KH's overall tone and atmosphere, and ask yourself what you think can fit and what can't.

I suggest reading my Manga Sermon, but if you do not have time for that. Here are some basics.

 

• One if you want to make a manga you must find your own art style, (creating a manga with using someone else's style is a form plagiarism)
• find out what category you want this manga to be. (CoroCoro, Shonen, Shojo, Seinen, Josei, Adult.)
• practice the art basics, (foreground vs background, perspective, proportions, and shadows.)
• Study comics, there are many ways to panel manga, and comic books. (open boxed*, black boxed*, connected boxed.*)
• Decide whether you want it to be right to left, or left to right. (most manga and Manhua are R to L, but Manwha and Am. GN are L to R.)
• map out a fairly complete story, and characters. (you already have this)
• have fun and express yourself.

Nice response, but Doujinshi is just a self published work, it does not have to be a fanfiction.

Plus an Art style can sometimes change the category.

Actually it not technically fanservice, but the way it is, some might say it is fanservice...I won't be taking it out because it is where the humor comes in, some of it will have an impact on the relationship side of the story...But I thank you for your opinion...Also, I think your profile pic is funny...It seeems like Roxas saw something that cannot be erased from his memory....

Do you watch Soul Eater??? Anyways, I think that's what I'm getting at..It like a humorous perversion that doesn't go overboard but from the answers I have received, I think I may need to take out a few parts.
