After having helped out at the hotel Richissime and visiting a couple stores, Yui had finally returned home. She kicked off her shoes, and sat down at her desk. She could finally spend her birthday relaxing... It wasn't all that fun having to spend a day as important as her eighteenth birthday working all day, after all. She booted up her computer, but was quickly interrupted by her mother. "Yui, there's someone here to see you!" Her mother told her. Yui stood up and turned to face her mother.

 

"Really? I knew no one would forget today!" She rushed to the door, but was greeted by a woman she'd never met before. "Uh..." She tried to think of something to say. What was this woman doing here?

 

"Oh, so you must be Yui! I'm Serena." The woman introduced herself. "I'm here to give you a request..." She handed Yui a Pokeball and a Pokedex, "As well as a gift."

 

Yui looked at the Pokeball and Pokedex. "Wait, I get these?" She asked, and called out the Pokemon in the Pokeball. She was greeted by an energetic Totodile, which instantly ran around her in circles. Yui laughed, and picked the Pokemon up. "It already likes me! I think I'll name him... Tide!" She held the Pokemon out, and smiled at him.

 

"Uh... There's business involved, too." Serena reminded Yui. "You see... Professor Sycamore has requested that you join four other trainers in a quest to set off around Kalos with the Pokedex. He doesn't care exactly what it is you do during the journey, so long as you complete your Pokedex. He suggested the Pokemon Gym challenge, for example..."

 

"A journey around Kalos...? Sure, especially if I get to go with this little guy!" Yui agreed, grinning widely. She'd never had a birthday gift like this before. She looked to her mother for approval, who nodded.

 

"I was already asked about this. The Professor asked me to keep it a surprise for your birthday." She told her daughter, smiling.

 

"Great! In that case, I'd like you to step outside with me..." Serena led Yui outside, and sent out a Talonflame. Yui stared at it in amazement and Serena climbed aboard it. "Are you coming?" Serena held out her hand for Yui. Yui nodded, and joined Serena atop the Pokemon. The two flew off in the distance on Talonflame.

 

Yui was shocked by how fast the Pokemon traveled. In what seemed like a few seconds, they had already landed in Aquacorde town. "We're here!" Serena told her. She led Yui to a group of picnic tables outside. "This is where Professor Sycamore asked the others to meet us in his letters... He also said that Shauna was sent to Vaniville to get the ones there, and Trevor is heading to find Ludicus..." She muttered to herself. Meanwhile, Yui waited for her new companions... She hoped they'd be somewhere around her age.

(Hmmmm.... all very interesting names.... I shall think upon it for a little longer.)

Yui looked over at the boy who had just walked over to her. "Heh... Yeah, I'm one of them!" She showed the boy her Pokedex. "I'm Yui. Who are you?" She asked.

"No, it's fine!" Yui told him, smiling. Serena studied the boy who'd just arrived. "So, another new trainer...? Wow, there seem to be quite a few popping up today..." She said, partially to herself.

(BTW i named my charmander FIRAGA)

Arch instinctively reached out for a Pokeball, and sent out his new starter Pokemon; a Ralts. "Heh...aren't you a cute little fella..." Then Arch reach down and started petting the Ralts, which seemed to enjoy the petting. He then picked up the Ralts and said, "I think I'll name you...Kairu...yeah, that's a good name!" (And all of that sounded somewhat disturbing...uh...) (He was on the opposite side of the area of picnic tables...is my guess.)

Derik got an idea, deciding to issue a chalange someone in the groop, but who? Looking at the Ralts, he decided to write on the board "I would like to issue battle chalange to the one with the Ralts." Derik showed the group, and then wrote on the board "I will need someone to tell Zyliph to do its attacks for me, though..."

Ruby walked down the path,looking down the map as she walked. “If we follow this path we shouldn’t be able to get lost.”Ruby muttered as Empress rested within her hoodie. Ruby looked up and suddenly stopped on her tracks,which caused Empress to peek out to see what was going on. That’s when Ruby pointed to a small patch in the tall grass. There sat a Pidgey,pecking on the ground for some food. “Look at that Pokemon Empress.”Ruby said as she ever so gently got her map away and got Empress out of her hoodie,setting her down on the ground. Ruby got down,kneeling as if trying to hide from the Pidgey,her hand reaching for a pokeball in one of her backpack’s pockets. “That’s a nice flying type pokemon. Its final evolution is rather powerful too.”Ruby muttered as she glanced over at Empress. “Let’s try to catch it.”Ruby said,to which Empress nodded in agreement. The two then looked back forward and slowly started to crawl within the tall grass,trying to make as little noise as possible to try not to startle it,in fear that it would fly away. The two got closer…and closer…and closer… “(Almost there.)”Ruby thought. Suddenly there was a small ‘snap’ from a twig that Ruby did not noticed at all. “Sh*t.”She cursed. The Pidgey snapped its gaze up,its eyes filling with anger as it used a peck attack against the tall grass. Next thing anyone knows Ruby is covering her head with her hands as the Pidgey pecks at it. “OW OW OW OW OW OW OW!”Ruby yelled as she started to run,trying to get away from the irritated Pidgey. “E-Empress,use ember!”Ruby called. Empress nodded,suddenly shooting the red spheres of ember at the Pidgey. Ruby threw herself on the ground and covered her head,the Ember attack flying over her and right at the pidgey. The pidgey stopped on his tracks and used a tornado attack,eliminating the ember rather quickly. Ruby stared. “Aw man!”Ruby said as the pidgey prepared another tornado attack at the two. Ruby and Empress dodged,jumping out of the way. Ruby fell on her butt as her hood fell over her head. She pointed forward; “Use Iron Tail!”Ruby ordered as Empress jumped into the air,spinning as her tails glowed silver and slammed down towards Pidgey for an Iron Tail attack. The Pidgey dodged rather easily before pecking at Empress and headbutting it,having Empress fall down against the floor hard. “Empress!”Ruby said as she looked up,taking the pokeball. “Take this!”Ruby said as she threw the pokeball at the pidgey. The pidgey waved its wings,using a powerful gust attack and slamming the pokeball back at Ruby. Ruby had no time to react as the pokeball hit her right on the forehead,to which she fell back groaning,the pokeball landing down next to her. The pidgey seem to laugh before flying off. First pokemon capture attempt: Complete Failure.

 Derik wrote on  the board "My name is Derik, That's all you need to know, but, I like your name." He smiled "It's rather simple and nice."

"Hey I know, how about Colossus?" Golett excitedly nodded its head. "All right, Colossus it is." He then turned back towards Serena, remembering something. "Wait a second, I know who you are. You're Serina, one of the professors apprentices from five years back, right?"

"Really, well that's interesting." Robert said to Serina, and then glanced over toward Golett. who was busy staring at leaves as they blew past. "You know, I should probably give you a name. You aren't with Yui and the others, so I'm guessing that setting off on a journey was your own decision?" She asked Robert.

"Well, sort of. I had always wanted to become a pokemon trainer, but for some reason I'd never gotten around to it. Then one day, my uncle called up, saying that he'd like to help me fulfill my wish by providing me with my first pokemon. So now I'm here." Robert said to Serena, and then turned his atention to Yui. Hey, I got an idea, do you want to have a pokemon battle Yui. It'll be a fun way to test our skills."

"I'm Sho. Don't forget it!" Sho cheerfully said to the others. He then turned to Derik. "I'll tell Zyliph what to do."

Sho then picked up Bulbasaur and placed him on his [sho's] head. "You get the best seat in the house. Watch carefully, because next time it might be you who's in a battle."

"Oh! Sounds like a plan." Sho opened up his newly acquired Pokedex to check the repertoires of their Pokemon.

Yui sent out Tide, who ran over to the space Colossus was. Only, instead of preparing for a fight, he tried to play with the Golett. "Tide, come on... This is our first battle!" She sighed, then smiled. She couldn't feel mad at such an energetic Pokemon. Tide nodded, and jumped into position. "Alright... Ready when you are!" Yui told Robert.
