After having helped out at the hotel Richissime and visiting a couple stores, Yui had finally returned home. She kicked off her shoes, and sat down at her desk. She could finally spend her birthday relaxing... It wasn't all that fun having to spend a day as important as her eighteenth birthday working all day, after all. She booted up her computer, but was quickly interrupted by her mother. "Yui, there's someone here to see you!" Her mother told her. Yui stood up and turned to face her mother.

 

"Really? I knew no one would forget today!" She rushed to the door, but was greeted by a woman she'd never met before. "Uh..." She tried to think of something to say. What was this woman doing here?

 

"Oh, so you must be Yui! I'm Serena." The woman introduced herself. "I'm here to give you a request..." She handed Yui a Pokeball and a Pokedex, "As well as a gift."

 

Yui looked at the Pokeball and Pokedex. "Wait, I get these?" She asked, and called out the Pokemon in the Pokeball. She was greeted by an energetic Totodile, which instantly ran around her in circles. Yui laughed, and picked the Pokemon up. "It already likes me! I think I'll name him... Tide!" She held the Pokemon out, and smiled at him.

 

"Uh... There's business involved, too." Serena reminded Yui. "You see... Professor Sycamore has requested that you join four other trainers in a quest to set off around Kalos with the Pokedex. He doesn't care exactly what it is you do during the journey, so long as you complete your Pokedex. He suggested the Pokemon Gym challenge, for example..."

 

"A journey around Kalos...? Sure, especially if I get to go with this little guy!" Yui agreed, grinning widely. She'd never had a birthday gift like this before. She looked to her mother for approval, who nodded.

 

"I was already asked about this. The Professor asked me to keep it a surprise for your birthday." She told her daughter, smiling.

 

"Great! In that case, I'd like you to step outside with me..." Serena led Yui outside, and sent out a Talonflame. Yui stared at it in amazement and Serena climbed aboard it. "Are you coming?" Serena held out her hand for Yui. Yui nodded, and joined Serena atop the Pokemon. The two flew off in the distance on Talonflame.

 

Yui was shocked by how fast the Pokemon traveled. In what seemed like a few seconds, they had already landed in Aquacorde town. "We're here!" Serena told her. She led Yui to a group of picnic tables outside. "This is where Professor Sycamore asked the others to meet us in his letters... He also said that Shauna was sent to Vaniville to get the ones there, and Trevor is heading to find Ludicus..." She muttered to herself. Meanwhile, Yui waited for her new companions... She hoped they'd be somewhere around her age.

After a short while, the others finally made it to Aquacorde. "Looks like we're here," Sho thought aloud. He turned to Shauna and asked, "So now where do we go? Do we look for this fifth Pokedex owner?"

Joe and Eevee looked to one another slightly stunned by Ruby's and Empress's reaction to helping them out an image of an old companion then flew through Joe's head and he broke out laughing Joe noticed as Ruby looked up too him while he was laughing but quickly Joe stopped and looked to Ruby whiile still holding back the laughter "Sorry about that i wasn't laughing at you or anything its just you remind me of a friend of mine the two of you are kind of similar in ways" Joe then began to shake his head as Eevee jumped up onto his shoulder "away the names Joe, Joe Mahon and this here's my partner Eevee and dont let his cute appearance fool you this little guy can be quiet fierce when he wants to now about those ariados that attacked you honestly ariados arent all that ferrous unless provoked and im guessing you did that by messing with the web they had worked so hard to make (not that i can talk considering me and eevee did even more damage to it) but trust me when i say this there arent any real vicious pokemon half the time there either hungry or scared when they attack if you know how to read the situation you can come up with counter measures like i did just there" Joe then looked to Empress as he did he bent down placing some pokemon food down infront of the small pokemon and then rubbing her head "there never has been or or at atleast i hope there never will be a truly vicious pokemon as long as you treat the pokemon around you with love and respect they'll respond with the same kind of feelings and from it strong bonds will form between you and any pokemon you meet whether they be a pokemon you have caught or not right eevee" the small pokemon nodes as he rubs up against joe's face and joe laughs while giving the small pokemon some food

Ruby blinked as she watched Empress sniff the pokemon food. Ruby took a bite,it was delicious. She squealed and nommed on the pokemon food happily. "You know alot about pokemon."Ruby breathed as she anime sweatdropped. "Pokemon don't really get along with me,nor humans in general. I think Empress would be one of the few who I would feel comfortable talking to fully."Ruby said as she stood up,standing on her feet as Empress chewed on the pokemon food,wagging her tails. "Eevee,he's so cute."Ruby admitted as she clapped her hands together. She looked up as she blinked a few times and then thought for a moment. "But,I still thank you. If you weren't around those pokemon would've most likely had us for dinner."Ruby said as Empress finished eating the pokemon food and blinked for a few times,crawling up Joe's pants and up his backpack as if looking for more. "I really didn't expect Santalune Forest to house such bug pokemon though,being a popular tourist spot and all."Ruby said as she picked up Empress,resting her on her shoulder. "But I guess I can't be that impressed either,since the Santalune Gym is a bug type gym after all,or so I've heard."Ruby said as she tilted her head. "Me and Ruby are going to gain badges and go for the pokemon league."Ruby said smiling.
