How come Sora forgot some things but not everything in C.O

Posted

Okay can anyone tell me how the heck Sora remembered Traverse Town and the Traverse Town/Radiant Garden crew and also how he was able to tell that his islands were just created from his memories but when he went to the other worlds he couldn't tell that it was made from his memories or that he'd been to those places before (excluding Twilight Town)

He saw them at the very start. It all just came down to when.

-Travers Town, He was in Kh1 in Travers Town, he only remember the things that happend in travers town during kh1.

-Hollow bastion same as TT

Since he had just gotten to Castle Oblivion, he didn't have enough time to forget about everyone. (well, SPOILERS if haven't played the whole game) Namine didn't have enough time to redo the chain of memories and create fake ones, etc.

But about what happened in Destiny Islands... To me it's still a little confusing... I'm not sure, but I think Sora knows he's in Castle Oblivion, but still lives those stories in each of its floors like he was meeting his friends for the first time (he forgot about them). And somewhat, for him, those adventures happen inside the Castle, but people don't know they're inside of it, so he doesn't say anything.

I say this because he gets out of those worlds and goes back to the Castle, and knows what they're going through: they're loosing their memories and facing Organization XIII. Destiny Islands was a special case, because he was talking to the real Namine, the one he knows is in Castle Oblivion, so she knows the truth. You can also see that because he doesn't talk about any of this with the Riku from his memories: he knows that Riku is not the real one.

It's confusing enough to me, but I hope it helps

Yeah it is somewhat confusing AntonioKHT but you've helped cleared up things a little bit better

Namine hadn't changed those memories. He forgot things that Namine changed so the farther he went the less who knew. He remembered Traverse Town because it was at the beginning and not really any of his memories had been changed yet

Haven't played in a while, I'll tell you later!

Its because he slowly loses his memory.

I'd say he still remembers Destiny Islands because it's so inextricably linked to his memories. He grew up there, it'd be tougher to undo THAT memory. And Namine spent most of her time dicking around with his memories of Kairi. Not to mention that the islands were a huge part of Namine's artificial backstory for Sora - that they both grew up together there.

And of course, he remembers TT because, at that time, Sora, Donald and Goofy had JUST gotten into C.O. so Namine was just starting to undo the chains. Plus, it's a fact that Sora revisits TT moreso than the other worlds since he needs to upgrade the Gummi ship several times over the course of KHI. So, he has more (canon) memories of TT than the other worlds.

As for the other worlds, they weren't nearly as large a part of the company's memories than TT and DI were. The friends they made there all made links with their hearts, but it is Squall, Yuffie, Aerith, Cid and Cloud that made the greatest impact and friendship with the group than the Disney characters.

Yeah, makes sense. There's also the fact Namine never erased Destiny Islands memories, but only changed them.

And, well I said that. Not enough time to forget. And yeah, maybe the fact he has a deeper connection with them helped him not to forget about the closest friends

It's all about Naminé and her memory powers in cooperation with the Organization.

Sora will remember and forget exactly what they want him to remember and forget.

The reasoning behind certain memories may be obscure, but that's what it boils down to.
