Light Fall [A Kingdom Hearts Roleplay]

Lets Get This Show On The Road

Roaring wind and swirling blacks and purples blanketed everything, eyes squeezed shut as the world stretched and tore; pulled backward through the Space Between, there was nothing that could be done as the island was ripped into infinitesimal pieces in the darkness beneath his feet. His brown hair was matted down hard against his head, damp and cold against his forehead. His arms were pressed to his sides as he traveled, though he wouldn't have had the strength to fight whatever was pulling him along if he wanted to. He ground his teeth, pulled faster and faster through the darkness, feeling as though his legs might be left behind if it didn't slow down.

Bright white light suddenly burst through the tiny gap in his eyelids. The blue eyes snapped open as the urgent pulling sensation gave way to gravity; his arms and legs came free, his neck snapping up to see what he was flying toward as he was blasted from the portal, long black claws raking out after his body, snaking through the air toward him, as if it were going to snatch him like a fish on a hook and send him whizzing back the other way. Arms came up to shield his body unnecessarily; the short-lived portal snapped shut only moments after his exit, the shadowy claws bursting into wisps of smoke before his eyes. His moment of relief was cut off by the wall. Sneaky buggers, walls.

His body clung to its yellowed surface for a moment, leaving the former Keyblade Master to slowly peel off and fall to the dirt with an unceremonious 'flumpf'. Pain reverberated through all his limbs, spreading from the back of his head. His bare hands were scraped and already covered in dirt and sand, and shaking as he tried to bring his arms under him to bear his weight. "No... No no..." He coughed, his whole body shuddering once as his arm slipped, bringing him back down to the earth.

Lying on his stomach for minutes that felt like lifetimes, he closed his blue eyes once more, silently wishing himself away from his dirty resting spot, his mind forcing him to relive the incident once more.

He'd been sitting on the floor of his house, back against one of the couches in the living room, that silly ear to ear grin spread over his face, his hands wrapped around a spiky auburn haired young boy, both of them laughing as they wrestled on the floor. A typical summer night, it seemed; roughhousing on the floor, shooed inside by an oncoming storm. As twilight wore into evening, and his son was ushered on to bed by his wife, the retired Keybearer took the moment to relax, letting his head sink down into the cushions of the couch, staring up at the ceiling fan as it spun hypnotically slowly. The smile still on his lips, he pushed himself to his feet. "Dad?" A shaky voice of a younger girl, echoing down the stairs to him. As she asked him to come up, he was already taking two steps at a time, for no particular reason other than he could! He hopped around the corner, poking his head into the room. Another auburn haired kid was kneeling on the bed in her pajamas, pointing out the window to something. Sora chuckled, pushing some of his own light brown locks out of his eyes as he walked over to the window to see what was so startling. "It's just a squall; you remember how they turn the sky funny colors." He took a look for himself, despite his own assurances. Blinking a few times, he pushed off the window sill, standing frozen in the middle of the room for a long moment.

Before he'd fully registered what he was doing, he'd thrown on actual clothes and was beating feet out the door; just a pair of jeans and a plain white t-shirt, as his old adventuring outfit didn't really fit him anymore. The Keybearer was in a hurry in any case. He never would have been any the wiser if he hadn't looked out the window... Just woulda gone to bed...

He skidded to a halt in the grass in front of the mayor's home, fists clenched tight as he glared up at the figure. It was as black as the sky all around it, like a shadow in a dark room, and the only thing lighting it up was its hands held up to the sky: thin white bolts of lightning were arcing up every few seconds, becoming more and more frequent until the moment Sora arrived. The man on the rooftop lowered his arms to his sides, the hood peering vacantly downward; its contents were a mysterious void in the shadow. As they stared each other down, the skin on the back of his arms was crawling, spreading slowly up to his neck and then spreading down his spine. How he'd managed to miss such overwhelming darkness...

His bright blue eyes snapped open again, bringing him back to the bit of dirt he was recovering on. His head was still aching, pulsing throughout the rest of his limbs, but he managed to control his arms enough to bring his body upright, leaning back on his wall, blinking slowly at the world he'd arrived in. "The Land of Departure, huh...? Aqua..." he murmured to himself, pushing off the wall and stumbling up the hilly path that led to the main building.

He was back on the grassy field in front of the mayor's house, golden flashes all round his hands as the paired Keyblades appeared. The hood jerked backward, as if the person underneath had let out a chuckle. Leaning forward, the cloaked figure was off the rooftop in an instant. Gloved fingertips, arcing white sparks, were centimeters from his face before Sora realized he needed to move. Leaning back, he swung Fenrir hard, connecting awkwardly as he fell to the ground. The hooded figure vanished into a puff of smoke, leaving the Keybearer to stare at it for a moment, wondering what had just happened before white light lit up everything above him. His head snapped forward; the man was suspended in the air in a spin, hands pressed together, wild arcs of electricity shooting off to nothing around him as he brought the hands to bear. A sudden release of pressure in the air for a split second, and everything went silent... Just for a second.

Sora was skidding backwards over the grass, his heels catching on something as his momentum carried him along, sending him spinning and tumbling back until he finally rolled to a stop on the edge of the beach. Water rushed through his fried pant legs, two still-smoking handprints on the back of his calves where the connection was made. The remnants of the attack were still making him twitch and spasm when he heard slow, deliberate footsteps moving steadily closer. "To think... that this is all the force to be mustered... by the strongest of the Wielders."

He reached the interior of the keep, still supporting his sore body on door frames and walls as he staggered his way up the hill. His soaked jeans weren't helping at all, as the slightest breeze sent chills up his spine, making him feel even more lifeless than Sora thought possible. He called for anyone, receiving no reply as he tried to make his way down corridors and up staircases. It seemed the masters in training had already fled, and Master Aqua was gone with them.

As he mounted the final spiral staircase, he was leaning heavily on the banister, and nearly toppled back down when he finally came to the landing. Doors up and down the dormitory were left wide open, the contents of some strewn out into the hallway; one door looked like it had been blasted or torn off its hinges. The heavy oak doors at the end of the corridor was barely cracked open, but scorch marks marred every inch around it. His voice was caught in his throat, reaching out to push on one of the handles, which looked as though someone had tried to melt it away, the barrier creaking slowly as he entered. "Empty... What could have happened here..." His mumbled words gave away his despair, as he sunk down inside the Master bedroom, his back pressed to the door.

The points of his Keyblades were digging hard into the sand, as Sora used them to prop his body upright, two more scorched hand prints on his back. He was panting hard now, his whole body weighted down with water, long brown locks sticking across his face and forehead as he stood at the edge of the island, his bright blue eyes just barely able to make out the curved tree where he and his friends had spent so many carefree days and nights, wondering up the unforgettable experiences they might have on other worlds. Half-lidded and trying to wipe sweat and a sticky crimson substance from his eyes, he heard another boom of thunder from across the main island, bringing up his Keyblades as he waited for the shadow to strike once more, hoping to catch it off guard and land a lucky blow. A hefty gust of wind rushed past, a precursor to the danger that was causing it, Sora gritting his teeth hard as he waited for sudden pain. "What good are you?" The voice was hard and hushed, the sand around the shadowy figure's feet swirling around him as he came to a sudden halt, making the Keybearer stumble backwards as he tried to figure out where his opponent was coming from so quickly. "Well... No use wasting time... Hardly worth the effort... Doubt you're going to save anyone..." The hood turned, looking down along the dunes, catching sight of the woman with her long auburn hair flowing in the breeze. "Least of all, your friends..."

Another boom broke the clouds above them, and everything started to swirl. Pieces of houses were already being pulled in, ripped out of the ground as winds immediately started to gust over the islands. Sora took off down the beach toward his home, all thought of the battle gone, only wanting to reach her before everything was ripped apart again. The ground shifted, a column of earth shifting up in front of him, leaving his section of beach to sink below the raging waves, foaming as they rushed in toward him. He leapt up, managing to drag his worn out frame onto the section of land above him.Almost there... Just a bit more...

His feet sank into the sand as he ran, hopping over fractures that were appearing all along the island, yelling for her to grab the kids and go, to run, to get away... A palm wrapped around the back of his head, pushing him forward into the sand. It wrenched his head back, holding him down to watch what was going to happen... "Ahh... my favorite part... the sappy goodbyes..." Twisting and trying to fight away from the grip on top of his head, he felt a knee crushing down on his back, and the hand, bunching up in his head, yanked hard. Pops issued all along Sora's spine. The earth shifted again, the house suddenly dropping down several feet, before the whole piece of land started to shift. The swirling clouds, glowing bright yellow in the middle and turning purple along the outside edges, were a sickening whirl of color overhead as they drifted toward the eye. The movement was enough to unbalance the shadow, Sora's arm wheeling around over his head, actually feeling the connection this time: Sleeping Lion managed to catch right along his attacker's chest, knocking the shadow of a man flat on his ass. The Keyblade Wielder jumped to his feet, ready to try and jump the gap, but he saw the look on his wife's face... she'd made it outside again, his son and daughter holding onto her tightly, both of them calling for him to hurry. It was the sad little smile, the sort she hadn't worn in years, and that slight shake of her head, that kept him standing right on the edge of the abyss. "Remember what I said?! I still mean it!..."

His eyes open once more, still sitting alone in what had been Aqua's bedroom, his back resting on the door and his legs sprawling out across the tile floor. His body no longer shook as he rose once more, testing his grip as he turned to a wardrobe next to the entryway. He pried it open, finding nothing but a burnished plaque inside: "Step right up." He pulled off his tattered clothes, the hand prints on his back and chest making the shirt flimsy to the point of almost disintegration, and did as he was told; his last words to Kairi were ringing in his ears as he shut the door, feeling warmth surround his body.

Being electrified and shot through space can make it easy to forget who you are sometimes...

The doors sprung open again, giving him enough light to see what had been done. He flexed his glove-covered palms, looking over the scuff marks on his fingertips, the only visible reminder of what had just happened. "Remember... I'm always a part of you, too. And I'll come find you; always will..." The glove squeaked as he clenched his fist, the grin slipping back onto his face as he straightened out his jacket, throwing the doors open and strode back down the mangled corridors. "Kairi... Riku... I'm coming to get you... Seems like our war isn't over yet..."

Luna gently blushed as Zion stepped forward in a protecting manner, embarrassed by the idea that a girl who was raised and trained to be a protector was being... well... protected. Her deep blue eyes gazed at the battle-scarred keyblade hero as she exhaled a sigh of awe and admiration, then to Aqua. "Th-thank you Aqua. I really don't want to get into a fight right now." Behind the chosen Keyblade wielder and blonde keyblade master was the giant hole where an ornate door was supposed to stand, now fallen onto the cold hard floor as a dark silhouette contrasted the bright, pristine background.

Two blue glowing rods were projecting from the figure, one from its arms and one from what looked like its shoulder as a dark green rectangle lit up its armored face, an eye glowing bright white on one side. Luna felt her heart skipping a beat as her mind jumped to a conclusions on who it was. She remained cautious as her innocent and longing gaze watched the shadowy figure. "Possible contacts ahead" a nonchalant voice echoed within the main chamber. "Well, are they friendly or not?!" another voice chimed in, almost mocking the former in a whimsical tone as another silhouette rose into view. "We come in peace!" the light-hearted voice blared, the shadow where the voice was coming from waving its arms like an idiot. "Nice job blowing our cover to possible hostile contacts, idiot." the monotone voice replied, its glowing rods becoming brighter as both figures approached the group. Another figure contrasted itself from the bright, serene background scenery that was contained within the door frame as it held the unmistakable outline of a keyblade known as Destiny's Embrace. Its footsteps barely echoed the walls of the chamber as the heavy, rhythmic footsteps of the other two shadows marched in sync with one another towards the group...

Caenum was knocked back by the girl's dark pulse, but managed to keep his feet. As he recovered he saw the girl's blade form and start its swing towards him. He reacted instinctively and tried to block. He had no weapon to do so, but he had other tricks up his sleeve. A barrier spell snapped to life between Caenum and the on coming blade. It managed to stop the blade, but the barrier cracked and looked like it would not survive another blow, but that was all Caenum needed.

He then jumped and tackled the girl, using darkness of his own to make sure she did not escape his grasp that way. Together, they both tumbled through a dark portal Caenum had made, ending up in the next district over from his home.

With his opponent safely away from the kids, Caenum sprang off the girl and backed away.

"Why?" He demanded. "What am I a threat to? And why are you doing this? You clearly don't want to follow this order, so what is making you do it?"

Aqua watched as it looked like Ven was getting along with Lightning. At least that was good.

"I wish we didn't have to fight at all." She replied to Luna.

She paused as the door was breached, then turned, Keyblade forming in hand. She held her ground as one of the figures yelled that they came in peace.

"Please identify yourselves." She instructed before seeing a familiar form. "Kairi?"

Ventus looked over and say a woman with Red hair walk through the door. "Oh my god, it is Kairi!" Ven walked up to her. "Hey there Kairi, it's nice to see you again. I think there's someone you'd like to see who's over there." He pointed over to where Sora was standing.

Xion smiled softly.

"Hi Kairi. You've aged really well." Giggling softly, Zion bopped Xion lightly. "Hi Princess Kairi. Glad to see everyone made it...now...does anyone know what the hell is going on?" she finally asked, looking around. "Know anything, Aqua?"

The golden-haired girl smiled at them all, waiting.

Finally near the group, the shadowy figures finally revealed themselves thanks to the rays of sunlight warmly passing through the glass dome above. The stoic Sentiment's light-tan armor gently glowed in the light, with dark bold words identifying who he was emblazoned on the right armored collar piece as the glowing rods from its sub-rifles started to dim. "Please identify yourselves" the Sentiment Shielder heard the keyblade master assert. He turned to face the woman, the cold, green visor of the helmet revealing absolutely nothing as his right hand formed into a salute over where a heart is supposed to be. "Guardian Zero-Four, Nocturne. Reporting." the masked entity nonchalantly replied. The heartless counterpart whimsically chimed in to the boring introduction. "In other words, no one important!" The unforgiving gaze of the visor immediately turned to face the culprit, only to be greeted with the view of a stupid smile that stretched from one ear to the other on the heartless' face. "What?! It's sorta true! Anyways" the bubbly entity continued, looking at Aqua, "who cares who we are!? Look! We brought Kairi!"

"Oh my god, it is Kairi!" The two entities looked over to Ven as he walked up to her.

"I know, right?!" the Striker replied, his silly grin only getting bigger. Surprisingly, the usually stoic Shielder started laughing as the winged nobody finally arrived with the Princess' children.

"Hey there Kairi, it's nice to see you again. I think there's someone you'd like to see who's over there."

Kairi's gentle blue eyes trailed the imaginary line to the spot where the blonde keyblade wielder was pointing to, and felt her heart skip a beat as she saw her beloved husband. The scars from the near death encounter on Destiny Islands as the world plunged into darkness was evident as she ran towards him, arms outstretched and tears streaking down her face as she gasped his name. "Sora!"

"Daddy!" the Princess' kids cried out. They ran towards him, the winged Sentinel letting their small, frail hands go so they could be reunited with their parents. With his task accomplished, the nobody turned and made his way to the other entities. "I got your remark, Striker. Good going."

"I'd do anything to see them all smiling again" their heartless whispered, a single tear of joy running down the side of his face as he watched the heartwarming reunion.

"Alright boys, let's merge." their cold Sentiment commanded. Agreeing wholeheartedly, both entities started their usual routine, fusing together in a spectacle of light and becoming one again.

Now whole again, Cody felt a little dizzy as the collective memories seamlessly integrated in his head, then quickly shook off the annoying ailment as he calmly removed his helmet. His ghostly pale skin seemed to give off a glow of its own as his depressingly gray right eye gazed at the reunited family, his left obscured by a jet black one-way glass lens. Unsure what to do with the moment, he brushed his free hand through his soft, short, military regulation raven hair as his attention went from the family to Luna. Their gazes met, then locked. Luna blushed gently as she tried to mask it, partially hiding her face behind Zion but was still peeking over. A slight, shy smile formed on her face as he felt a sharp chill, then a warm sensation run down his back, his heart racing as his lips quivered to call her name. "Luna" he whispered. Her eyes widened, sparkling in the gentle afternoon glow as she heard her name. Drawn to his voice, she slowly walked past Zion as the golden-haired girl sought more information from the others.

The girl was fully visible, her cloud of darkness no longer clouding her. The black cloak and hood didn't reveal much, but it was something. She had never intended to be revealed at all. "It is simple. You are a threat to my revenge on the keyblade wielders. I am doing this for that reason and because my master ordered me to. My master has given me the power to take vengeance, and so I must respect his orders. So do not make this harder on me than it must." The girl's voice quavered towards the end. She had her black metal blade out, and in her left hand. She raised her right hand to the sky, and darkness bolted from it. Creatures of darkness spread over the town quickly. She seemed to hesitate for a second, but then sprung towards Caenum, blade outstretched in a lunge.

Caenum dodged the girl's attack, but took a glancing cut to his left arm. He smacked his fist into the ground, causing a ripple to flow through the ground, ending in an eruption of stones and earth at the girl's feet.

"Why do you want to kill Keyblade Wielders?" He asked.

He kept moving, wishing he had his sword with him.

"Your master must want something more in return."

Aqua smiled at the reunions taking place. At least some light remained.

She sighed and turned her attention to Zion.

"I unfortunately don't know more then that stars are are going out." She replied. "It seems to start with attacks on the world. I...I wish we had listened closer to Riku."

She looked worried.

"Has anyone seen him since this started?"

( can someone interact with my char?(No one talks to my character ...))

(I've been waiting for Rikunobody before I do anything more. I'll help you out.)

Zion looked troubled. "I was awoken from sleep. That's never good."

As Zion conversed more with Aqua, asking about what had happened since she had gone to sleep and where Riku might be, Xion heard the cries and quickly hurried over. Casting Curaga, she helpedH Hikaru sit.

"Hey, sit." She frowned. "Who are you?" She asked softly, then dug out a candy bar from her pocket. "Here, eat this. You look like you've gone through hell. I'm Xion." she said kindly.

Zion glanced over, then broke away from Aqua. Wings out, she flew up and hovered behind Xion, looking over her shoulder curiously.

Hikaru looked at her with fear in his eyes. " I... Saw monsters....those monsters.... And that man and girl... I don't understand! Where am I? Who are you?"

(Thanks btw , I was feeling ignored.)

Hand in hand, Cody and Luna were finally reunited with each other as the quiet, timid girl gently nuzzled her beloved's exposed neck. "It is you..." she whispered. Cody quietly cooed, then quickly shook it off. "Y-you didn't hear anything, Luna" he playfully asserted, making the raven-haired girl giggle. Hearing her sweet, gentle voice brought a barely noticeable smile to his face as he blushed, trying frantically to maintain his bearings as the newcomer sputtered about his recent experiences. Shattering what tiny semblance of sanctuary he felt with her, Cody promptly made his way to the shaken stranger and firmly grabbed his shoulder. "Get a hold of yourself" he growled, "I need you to calm down." He patiently waited until the newcomer was thinking straight again.

(Lol, it's okay. Damn my non specificity!)

"I-I ...okay..." Said Hikaru. "Can someone tell me where I am? I'd appreciate that"

(Lol, it's okay. Damn my non specificity!)"I-I ...okay..." Said Hikaru. "Can someone tell me where I am? I'd appreciate that"

Surprised by the question, Cody was slightly taken aback. "Y-...you don't know where you are?"  He looked over his shoulder to Luna. She shrugged, unsure what to say. He looked back to the stranger, slightly biting his own lips as he thought of any possible consequences if he disclosed the name of the world. Reaching a decision, he calmly sighed. "You're on a world called the Land of Departure. Now the fact that you don't know this is... odd. Now tell me: What's your name, and How the hell did you get here? It's painfully obvious you aren't from here."

"My name Is Hikaru" said the boy. "I sensed this power. One that I hadn't felt since..." His voice trailed off. He knew he shouldn't tell the strangers what happened to his home, and he didn't quite know what happened either. " I saw a hole-thingy. It had the power ruminating from it. I stepped in and I was in a hall. There was this girl, who wanted something from these people, I presume. She was going to fight these people but most of them got away." He ponder the man who stayed behind. What was his fate? " Then the monsters came. The girl broght them, I think. That was when I ran. But it seemed that som of the monsters were in the halls. They started to attack me. I was running so I didn't think of fighting back. I saw a hole in front of me, as if it Knew I needed it. I struggled to it. And now I'm here"He looked at them with truth in his eyes. "That's all I know, I swear it."

Aqua followed Zion over and listened to Hikaru.

"What kind of monsters were they, Hikaru?" She asked soothingly, but with a slight bit of urgency in her voice. "Where they black and use darkness?"

"Use....darkness?" Hikaru replied. "Yes, they were dark, with yellow eyes. They seemed to sprout of the shadows."

"Heartless..." she glanced at Xion and Lightning. "Aqua. I thought we defeated the Heartless." She frowned, looking back at Hikaru. "Can you tell me. Were they all small? Did you see any big ones? What world are you from?" She asked kindly, smiling.

Xion was digging around her pockets...and Lightning handed her a device. Xion grinned sheepishly and turned it on.

"They were all shapes and sizes" Hikaru said. "They were fast." The boy pondered for a moment. " The mans blade was rather peculiar. It was shaped like a key, you see. And he fought strangely.... As if he knew his battle was futile. But wanting to help the others escape."

"And I thought darkness was no more." Aqua answered Zion. "It looks like we were all wrong."

The Keyblade Master's eyes narrowed as she heard more of Hikaru's explanation.

"Can you describe this man with the strange weapon?"

"He was an old-ish man." Hikaru said. " The girl said he was a threat of some sorts. Maybe to her 'master' I guess"

"Heartless..." Cody heard Zion remark.

"Not again" He whispered under his breath. Releasing his grip on the shakened newcomer to put him at ease, he took several steps back to Luna. He listened intently to the information being given by the witness while she continued with her affection, kissing him softly on the neck. "If the description is accurate" the stoic Guardian remarked, completely ignoring what the raven haired girl was doing him, "what are we gonna do?"

The happiness of their tearful reunion finally starting to wear off, Kairi gave Sora a heartfelt kiss as the children refused to let go of their dad. Slowly pulling her head back, she noticed a scar on her beloved husband. "Sora... What happened?" She worriedly asked.

"Pardon me," Hikaru said "what are these 'heartless' things, and what do they do? They.... Took something away from me..."

"They are the darkness of people's hearts given form." Aqua explained to Hikaru. "They...might have tried to take your heart."

She knelt down and put her hand on Hikaru's chest as she probed him with magic.

"We need to stop this attack." She told the room in general. "This could be a precursor to a Star going out."

"W-wait!" Hikaru said "Taken my heart!? Star dying? T-this must be a dream or else..." Hikaru put his hands to his face "I'm... Mom.... Dad... Zio....they can't be as well..." He remembered the day those 'heartless' attacked. He, his master, and a few others made a desperate attempt at stopping the monsters. He remembered the cold feeling he had, as he fell to the ground. He heard the screams of the villagers, and the children's crud that were abruptly silenced. He remembered his last breath. Hikaru looked at them with tears in his eyes. "What does it mean when a star dies?"

"It means that the world has fallen to darkness." Aqua replied sadly to Hikaru. "A lot of worlds have fallen just recently."

She hesitated a moment, then pressed on.

"We need to know where is under attack now so we can stop it. Where did you come from?"
