Earlier this year, Square Enix's earning forecast looked pretty grim, but with the surprising success of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, things are finally looking up.

 

Square Enix has now revised their earning forecast from their original estimate from 59 billion yen ($598 million) to 61.7 billion yen ($626 million). They also estimated a lost of up to 2 billion yen ($20 million), but now Square Enix has estimated a 4.7 billion operating profit. Finally, Square Enix's Net Income has raised from a 1.3 billion yen ($13 million) loss to a happier 2.6 billion yen ($26 million) profit.

It's amazing how one game can change everything.

 

What was the piece of shit that crippled Square Enix in 2010 and 2011 is now a financial success that saved their fortune from diminishing even further.

 

 

That might be Square's first step towards recovery

 

All they need to do now is to LEAVE THE IOS MARKET ALONE.....if they did that then I can say Square is back

they don't need to leave the iOS and Anroid market, it can be their side income, plus now people around the world can finally play classic FF games. People make money a lot by making softwares for iOS and Android.

 

 I really like the new SQEX President. Since then they keep updating the games that their currently making, look at LR and FFXIV, they keep making new trailers, fan meetings etc. finally after so many years we can see Nomura-san again on the stage, more interview on new KH games recently. Cant wait for FFXV and KH3!

They aren't remaking VII for iOS and Android. It is currently impossible. 

 

They needed to remake I-VI for iOS and Android. They needed to be remade for modern devices. And iOS and Android are going to be around for a long time. PlayStation One, PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS are all dead outside of Japan. It wouldn't make sense to remake them for PlayStation 3 or 4. It would be a totally different game. They'd look like FINAL FANTASY X or FINAL FANTASY XIII, which look great respectively, but it doesn't suit I to VI. They're about to release IV: The After Years and VI on iOS and Android and they will finally be done. And these iOS and Android remakes are cheap, and make Square Enix money so they'd be stupid not to have done them. In 2014 I'd like to see them re-release PC versions of V and IX like they did for VII in 2012 and then do a HD Collection of XII in 2015 for PS3 & PS Vita before then finally releasing FFXV and completing the first 15.

And don't tell me those two don't sell like crazy on Japan....yes the Vita is struggling outside just like it's ancestor the PSP,but in Japan it's selling really well

Besides,the mobile market mostly focus on cheap 1$ to 7$ or free games,and most of the mobile crowd won't go out of their way to purchase the likes of FF All The bravest and other FF things that cost above 10$

The After Years is being remade for iOS and Android because the first six FINAL FANTASY games are also on iOS and Android.

No. Square Enix are putting The After Years on smartphones because they are obsessed with that market right now not because all the others are on there and they have constantly remade/rehashed the first 6 Final Fantasy games on every system they can possbily get it on.

 

Final Fantasy I is on a total of 12 different platforms, since its launch. FF2 has been on 10, FF3 has been on 9 (this includes a full 3D remake), FF4 has been on... You know what FF4 has been on so many systems and had so many remakes it's ridiculous at this point, FF5 has been on 5 that I can remember off the top of my head and FF6 has been on the same amount I'm sure.

 

 

My point is SE will remake/port something if they feel like they want to make money and as of this point in time SE are far too guilty for making too many titles for the smartphone market.

 

 

Also, porting or remaking any of the titles for the 3DS does not mean they need to use 3D, it's just an option they can do especially as those with a 2DS wouldn't be able to see such a feature (and in case you are forgetting Pokemon XY though not made by SE is a game that makes little use of the 3D effect in the entire game). Another thing that should be pointed out that SE have said in the past that they has expressed an interest into putting both FF5 and FF6 on the 3DS as they originally wanted to put them on the DS after the success of FF3 and FF4. Whether those titles will come soon or not is another thing though.

Speaking of Final Fantasy IV,it has been rereleased on almost every single system that isn't an Xbox or Atari Jaguar.

 

It's been ported as much as Sonic and Sonic 2
