( Jack Frost fan fiction: deal wid it. :P It's mainly going to focus on the start of ROTG, when Jack is just invisable. The only ROTG characters appearing are going to be Jamie, Jack's sister, now named Ellen, and Sandman: a new villian, and even a couple of new guradians are added in. If you don't like, don't read, but please keep your hate to yourself.)

Prolouge

Darkness....

That was all.

It was so cold, and consuming.... it felt like death, as I floated along.

What had happened? Was I dead?

But then... I saw light; a light chasing away the darkness and the cold.

I felt peace, as the light washed over me, drowning the darkness.......

The ice was kinda pretty, I thought, as I walked along the frozen over water, aimless and confused, having no idea who I was or where I was... or even WHY I was.

" Well... "

My own voice shocked me, as it rang out clear and deep in the silence of the icy river bed.

I glanced around, taking in the beauty of the iced plants and trees, the moon's full and brilliant light covering it in a pale blue glow that shone like saphires.

I had to laugh; the sheer beauty of the snow covered land was simply... well, I couldn't describe it properly.

My hand caught my attention then; icy white, with soft blue veins runnig through it delicately.

" That's different..." I whispered, turning them over to see more veins running across the backs in criss~cross patterns.

What was this now? Hmmm...

The cold wind rushed through the trees, but it felt good, calming...

That was weird.

My foot hit something hard, sending it rolling across the ice noisly.

" What the..."

I touched it with my toe gently, and a sheen of ice covered it, a soft blue glow seeming to radiate from it, illuminating the trees and bushes with a pulsing glow.

" What is this?"

I picked it up, the glow brightning.

The glow iced over, and it's pulse shocked me.

" Ahhh!"

I dropped it to the icy river, which imediately began to frost over with a delicate, curling pattern that swirled and traced across the surface of the lake.

I laughed, sheer joy overtaking me, as I ran wildly about, tapping the trees to ice them over, tracing pictures and figures across the lake's frozen surface.

" This is grea... woa...woa...aaaaaaahhhh!!"

Running far too fast, I suddenly shot into the air, soaring high above the land below, an icy wind carrying me aloft.

" Ok... yeah...ok..."

Lights below caught my attention; a town?

Laughing, I soared off on a soft breeze towards the people and lights crowded in a light valley below.

" woaaa! Heha, yeah! "

I yelled, rolling into a snow drift onto my butt, smashing through someones laundry.

" Hey, people! Woooo!"

I yelled, jumping to my feet.

Noone paid me any attention, everyone busy with their own thing around a centeral plaza~type area in the center of the circle of houses.

" Hey, hey... I can take the hint: nonoe likes a.."

A little girl suddenly ran through me.... THROUGH me.... like I wasn't even there...

" oh my god... oh my god... what the..."

It had felt so icy.... so cold... like I was no more than a...

No more than a spirit.

" A spirit? But... but.."

I didn't know what to think, say, do...

Noone could see me: I yelled, I ran, I tried to push people...

nothing.

" HELLLOOOOOOOOO???? " I yelled, as the lights began to go out around me, a silence settling over the quaint village.

No one can see you, Jack.

" Wha..what? Who...?"

That's not important right now, Jack.

" Who's... Jack? "

That's your name: Jack Overland Frost. I have great plans for you, Jack; Great plans.

Why? Who are you? What...

At once, I realized three things: the voice had spoken into my mind, I had RESPONDED in my mind...

and my name was Jack Overland Frost.

Chapter 1: The Invisable Force

My name is Jack Overland Frost, and I think I'm about 307 years old, give or take a few years. Really, all I do is try to have fun, and goof around; I quickly realized after the first three years, that noone could see or hear me.

I know, I know... bummer, huh?

Here's the fun part: Being unseen has its advantages.

You can sneak up on people and blow cold wind down their necks, ice over car engines, and feeze pipes.

It's the funniest thing ever to see some guy yelling at his frozen car, or a woman falling on her butt on an ice patch.

Sure, sure: it can get kinda lonely...

but I've dealt with it for three hundred years, and I'm not going to let it get me down now.

The sun rose goldenly over the horizen, as December 1st dawned far to warm for my taste.

" Well, we're getting rid of this stuff." I said,

glancing at the green leaves still refusing to fall on a nearby tree.

Tapping it, it instantly frosted over, the leaves crumbling to a fine powder.

" Oh yeah, snow day! "

I yelled, taking to the skies on a light cross breeze.

"Wooooooo yeah!"

I yelled, causing dozens of pipes to burst in an icy spray across the town, snow beginnig to drift around me, as the clouds responded to my icy presence, releasing beautiful snowflakes of every look and style onto the streets below.

The wind rippeled through my hair, still a silvery white colour after all these years, permantly covered in a light frost of ice.

Cars skidded below me, as ice covered the roads, people slipping on dangerously iced sidewalks, kids joyfully running outside in pj's and night clothes to rejoyce at the cancellation of school, as the flakes deepened, falling heavily to pile up in yards and roadways.

" Who's your snow mizer, huh?"

I yelled, flying low to shower the kids with dancing frost, the icy winds seeming not to affect them as the simple joy of winter filled their very souls.

The kids kinda glowed when they were happy, a light blue aura covering them; soon, every yard had a blue glow pulsing in it, as the flurry increased to a small blizzard, driving the kids indoors to safety, the promise of a day of snowmen, ice fights, and sledding keeping their aura's glowing a brillant saphire blue.

I smiled; life was good after all.

Chapter 2: Snow days, first sights, and new arrivals.

" Snow day, yeaa! "

The boy yelled, taking off across the yard in the simple joy of winter, touseld brown hair imediatly frosting in the icy cold.

" Jamie Alexander Bennidict, get back here right now!'

An older woman, assumingly Jamie's mom, came out of the house, a hat held in her delicate hand, a light smile on her lips.

" Wouldn't want Jack Frost nipping at your nose."

She said, setting the hat on his head, smoothing his hair down around the edges.

" Who's ' Jack Frost'? "

Jamie said, squirming out from under his mother's hand to make air quotes.

His mother rolled her eyes.

" No one, dear, it's just an expression."

As Jamie took off, I jumped to my feet.

" Hey! I'm right here, lady! Damn...."

I froze her glasses over with a single breathe, frost cracking the lenses.

" oh!' She cried, pulling them off to exaimin the damage.

Laughing, I soared off on a Northern wind.

" Hey, hey!"

Jamie called, running up to a group of kids hanging around a large snowman they were building, the massive snowballs making up the body melting a tiny bit in the heat of the sun.

I waved my staff, and a snow flurry rained down upon them, saving their snowman's life for a while longer.

" Yo, Jams! How's everything, bro!"

A taller, lanky kid with a afro hairstyle said, waving from the side of the snowman where he was applying a large clod of snow to the snowmans side, smoothing it down to a more rounded shape.

" Everythings cool. Sis is sick again."

" Way to kill the mood Jamie, yeah.." I snorted, flying low over the group, sending delicate snowflakes fluttering down to catch in eyebrows, hair, and eyelashes, the icy joy of a winter snow day.

" Jack Frost nipping into her room?"

A shorter, chubby kid cried, laughing widely to reveal to missing front teeth.

" What... why you hating on me so much, gawd..." I moaned, pulling a tree branch down to dump a cold, wet clod of snow on the kid, causing him to fall backwards into a snowdrift.

I laughed along with his friends, as he sat up, shaking snow out of his hair.

The clouds responded tomy mirth by dumping more snowflakes on everything, the weather directly tied to my emotions by a force I've never understood, and never pretended to try to.

With the day warming inch by inch, I decided we needed some more clouds around.

Waving my hand,the silver veins across the back glowing, I made a fist: instantly clouds began to circle in, snow falling faster as a light breeze wafted through the trees.

As I did my wintery magic,Jamie glanced up...

and stared, right at me, for only a second, but directly at me.

  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Off in the trees, another with the sight was watching; this person wasn't fond of Jack Overland, but knew to complete their plans would require gaining Jack's trust.
This persons name was Night, short for Night Terror, and she was queen of all bad dreams.
And she had just set her sights on Jamie......
Chapter 3: Revelations In The Snow
About a week later, I was icing over the windows of a house in Germany, when I felt a sort of... heat.
It was odd, because, well DUH, Snow mizer...
But heat, none~the~less.
As the girl who's goldfish was now in a ice~cube instead of water cried out, I floated away on a North bound cross breeze, feeling uneasy and strange.
Chapter 3: Revelations In The Snow
About a week later, I was icing over the windows of a house in Germany, when I felt a sort of... heat.
It was odd, because, well DUH, Snow mizer...
But heat, none~the~less.
As the girl who's goldfish was now in a ice~cube instead of water cried out, I floated away on a North bound cross breeze, feeling uneasy and strange.
I didn't calm down intill I hit New York, perching on the tri~cornered roof of a house over~looking the river in a dumpy town in Long Island, gazing out across the gently shifting waters of the Amityville River as snowflakes fell like wilted dancers from the sky, each uniqe and beautiful in its own right.
My thoughts twisted and turned, like the snow in a snowdome after someone's rudely shaken it; that heat....
What was it?
Why was it?
I couldn't dwell on it too much; snow days were coming, and children were gonna need ammo for snowball battles, snowmen were gonna need snowdrifts to be made, and windows were gonna need to be iced over in pretty fern~like patterns.
A Snow~Mizer's work was never done once December hit.
Chapter 4: Dreams
I rarely dreamt, but that night I did:
a clearing, children laughing, then water, so cold....
Like ice.
When I awoke, the moon had risen, shining down on me coldly, as if to say it cared nothing about me, nothing about my purpose, nothing about my exsistence.
Moon didn't care.
It never cared.
I fell back asleep under its blue glare, and dreamed I was drowning in a pitch black lake.
Chapter 5 Snow Nightmare
The next day was snowy, a flurry whipping the trees.
I must've had a rough night: the weather liked to temper~tantrum when I had nightmares.
Stretching, I scratched my head, then picked up my staff.
With a jump, I rode a West~bound air current, sweeping over a small town below, thinking, brooding really, over the odd sensation of the past night, wondering....
worrying.
