Posted June 8, 201015 yr So I've been watching Darker than Black lately and I came with the briliant idea of making some photoshops of it. Here's the first one: Can you believe I spent the whole afternoon in this? T.T There are more but I don't have enough time to upload them now so I'll post them tomorrow.
June 8, 201015 yr I'm not sure about the random abstract burst near the stock; it takes away from the focal point. The background is pretty simple and too black and the text is in no offense kinda bad...looks like you used a burst effect, but you truly have gotten better just try to add more color and work on your focal points.
June 8, 201015 yr Whoa? I actually like it. The abstract is in place and without fail as far as I see (like a power out of his hand) and it's darker than black so the black background is just perfect also with black reaper font. All in all? An emotion is successfully transmitted.
June 8, 201015 yr i would say a little more color and maybe increase the brightness and contrast a bit. I actually like the text but the burst effect is a little too much
June 8, 201015 yr Author Sorry Roxas, but I have to agree with Cricket and Hinako in this one. Yeah, I used burst effect on the text, and I put the blending mode of the pic I used at Screen so I guess that's why it's a bit too black. I'll try to finish that and them I'll post it again. For now here's the other one I made yesterday:
June 8, 201015 yr I like this one. Very nice. Very bright. A little too big, but it's nice. The right hand corner is to empty though, but overall its good
June 9, 201015 yr Hmm maybe it's personal reference thing but I like the black reaper better than yin. Yin has more techniques and precision as I can see, but it doesn't transmit feeling as good as black reaper does. Maybe because br's mistakes creates unique feeling on its own, while yin is so textbook I don't feel any electricity of it. Anyway, there's no exact rule of good or bad in art, is there?

For now here's the other one I made yesterday: Please, never ever never EVER use filters on a whole person in a picture again. It doesn't look good that way.
June 9, 201015 yr ^yup, I think the filter is better used for the base of the background, before it gradients and gets more effect. In a whole person it makes her looks like a stuck piece of paper somewhat, it's just that person seems not being part of the background, like she's not there. Or if you insist in using it on person, maybe it can be in the dress only, not in the head (since the face isn't actually appear, any part of head holds important role in delivering her expression). I personally will be glad if you use 'mistakes' like in br, the too bright white in plain black background implies that he's still have some light in his personality even though living in dark, even stuck and glow, and the abstract burst which normally I'll say it's random, but here it's not, thanks to matched (Lee?)'s expression and reaper text below so the burst has something to say. Or so I think...
