The American Version of Boys over Flowers

Posted

Okay, so some of you might know about Boys over Flowers/Hana Yori Dango. It is a really popular manga that has been made into an anime and several dramas from different countries (Japan, Korea, China, ect ect). Well, this is the American version of that show. Okay, now I am not going to say anything until after you watch the trailer.

Now I am going to post my reaction in a spoiler tag as I don't want my opinion of this too influence how you might feel.

First off, that's not a cake. It's a pie. Second off, the whole "confession" thing doesn't happen in the states. And third, they are apparently suppose to be in University? What? Since when did adults throw pies at each other? And fourth, LOL. Really? This is their best trailer?! >_< I don't even know what to say...it looks so silly.

Here's a video that gives a better idea about what the plot is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNJNeS88BFw&list=UUDKeZyvTuxj3ArvA6CReZwA

And if this has been into a thread all ready...I apologize.

Holy sh- this is actually interesting news.I think they could have done a better job with their picks for the cast xP and well yeah, kind of disappointing after watching the videos.

I still love the Jap and the Taiwanese version >_<, Hana Yori Dango was one of my first dramas to ever send me into tears

I'm in college and I would say it's not too different than high school sadly.  The only difference is that you're not forced into the same building with the same people 5 days a week so you have more freedom.

I don't know what to think from only 20 seconds of video.  It definitely feels Americanized but there's not much to see.

I'm in college as well and I see a huge difference. Although I go to a large university, so it might be different...>_<

It depends on who you hang out with and the university.  I unfortunately go to a university famous for it's drinking so I wouldn't put it past the frat boys here to act this way.
