Sword Art Online: Another Log-In (Roleplay Thread)

Keimei looked around at the crowd in the center plaza of the Starting Town. "Why was I just taken here...?" She asked aloud. She'd only been playing for a couple hours, and had decided to get into the combat system before finding anyone to team up with. She looked around the crowd, noticing a lot of other people were also teleporting there. Suddenly, the sky above her turned blood red. A cloaked figure appeared over the square, and hovered there.

"Hello everyone, and welcome to SAO." A voice boomed over the crowd. "You're likely wondering who I am... My true identity will remain secret. However, I will tell you this; I have hacked into SAO. Some of you may have noticed that there isn't a log-out button... That's because I've removed the option to log out. I've trapped you all in the game..." He paused, as the crowd was dead silent. He eventually continued. "Why have I done this? Simple. I've wanted a world of my liking. In this world, I've surpassed even the game's creator, Kayaba Akihiko. Here, I control you all... Unless, of course, you can clear all 100 floors. However, that's impossible..." He cackled. "Also, to warn you... If you die in the world of SAO, the NerveGear will fry your brain in the real world, killing you in both. If anyone attempts to remove your NerveGear, you will also die. Now then, before I leave, I have a gift for you..." Suddenly, a mirror appeared in Keimei's inventory. She used it, out of curiosity. There was a sudden flash of light, and she shut her eyes...

When she opened her eyes, she felt different. She looked into the mirror... That's... my real face in the mirror... She looked in horror. Aside from her hair color, which was the same shade of red that she'd made it in-game, she looked exactly like she did in real life.

"Now then... With this, I must leave. Good luck in Aincrad... You'll need it." A maniacal laughter echoed along the buildings, as the figure disappeared.

After the echoes, there was silence. After what felt like ages, people began rioting. "We're doomed!" "I can't be trapped in the game, I've got a meeting in an hour!" "That had to all be some sick joke!" Keimei looked around in confusion. She didn't know what to do. She looked around frantically.

I have to get out... The only way to do that is to fight, and I'll need partners... Man, I really wish my friends had been able to get the game so I wouldn't be alone in this. She dashed through town, weaving her way through the crowd and into the streets. She tried to look around for someone, anyone who was also rushing to go fight.

"Oh, so we're the same age." Kei smiled, relieved that she wasn't with some guy way older than her right now. She began eating her food. (Screw the level caps, they're confusing me now too. ._.) (You're welcome. xD) "Hey... Was that Elyna?" Kei looked back after hearing the familiar voice. "Was she here to spy on us...?"

"Maybe. Pretty sure it was, could have sworn that I heard the dragon she has making the sounds it should, like any dragon would naturally even when they're suppose to be quiet..." He muttered. "But she might have been trying to spy on us..." He sighed, continuing to eat his food. "Her beta title for some reason reminds me of one I knew of. She wasn't high-ranked, but she was feared none the less. I don't remember her name, but her title was "The Hollow Death". I never faced her, luckily, but I heard she is a wicked good fighter."

"Yeah, I heard the dragon, too... She probably was spying on is." Kei sighed. "I hope we don't ever get into a serious fight with her... I don't know if we'd be able to handle that if what you say is true... Hey, what are the beta titles about, anyway? I keep hearing about them... Did all beta testers get some sort of title?" She asked.

"It was kinda like a nick-name for the known players. A title, kinda like a knighthood or something, just less regal" Abisk answered. "I got mine because unless I'm dishing orders I generally didn't speak much, save for maybe a "Yes" or a "No" when needed, and because of my proficiency at the combat system and good swordsmanship." Abisk replied, finally finishing his sandwitch.

Ryonne nodded to himself. "I'd prefer that too. But I don't think a floor boss is something only two players can take care of. And if it is, then oh well. Better safe than sorry when your life is at risk." Ryonne reasoned. He turned the doorknob, and both of them set off, traveling towards the dungeon area. They stopped in front of the entrance. Ryonne looked at the large gateway to the dungeon. "Has anyone else even been in there yet?" Ryonne asked. He clutched the sheath at his side. He couldn't deny he wasn't nervous. This was his first time in an MMO, and with the Nervegear. There were others far more comfortable with this kind of environment that could be on the front lines. But no. He had to fight for himself. Otherwise it wouldn't feel right, letting others die in his place.

"Probably." Sikiro replied, "I would imagine at least some group has gone in by now." Sikiro moved to hold onto the hilt of his own weapon, looking up at the large, threatening gate of the first floor dungeon. From Sikiro's knowledge of most RPGs, the first dungeon was an easy, straight-forward labyrinth with low-level mobs and likely an easy boss that was weak to your base attacks.

"Pretty sure some of the Beta Testers made it through here. One of them apparently got up higher than all the rest--like ten levels or so. A Beater, they call him."

"Oh, alright. Heh... They sound really cool. Wish I had one." Kei laughed, and finished the rest of her food. "O-oh, I forgot... The others are still at the inn. Think we should go check in on them?" She asked, feeling bad for forgetting them.

"I think they're fine, but if you wanna check in-with them, we can do that... If you want..." He replied. "Don't worry about the title... Heh... It'll come around one day, too..."

"I think we probably should... They're probably worrying about where we are right now." Kei sighed, a little upset that they'd have to get serious again. "You really think I can get a title someday, too? Heh, thanks." She smiled, and got up.

"Well, you already show the skills in your arsenal, just a little training and experience and you'll be as good as me." He said, sighing as he, too, stood up. "Y'know... This was nice. Maybe we should do it again when we have time?"

"You think so?" Kei blushed a bit at the compliment. "Y-yeah, I had a lot of fun. We need to do this again sometime!"

"Y-Yeah! You'll be great one day." Abisk assured her, "Alright, how about on the next floor?" He asked.

"Next floor? Sounds good to me. I hope there's a place like this up there... Anyway, come on, let's head back to the inn." Kei began to leave the restaurant, taking notice of a girl who looked angered about something (Wolf). "This sounds about where Elyna was... Hey, did you see a girl wearing a brown cloak?" She asked, feeling like the girl might have known.

(Each floor have a limit cap, the resources around with the missions allows you to go up to a certain level, no more no less. Now as we don´t have any way to control it, thanks to the nature of it. Also the difficulty to get exp points increases. Example: in floor 11 kirito was in level 40, while common  players were around level 20, you can grou up experience, however like in any RPG, the quantity for reach next level is more big. that´s true because Kirito was level 80 on the 70th floors, so he took 60 levels to get 40 more levels. Now if we are propossing level caps we can live with this i suposse:

1-11 - Floor one

11-30 - Floor two - ten

30-50- Floor eleven - fifty.

50-90 - Floor fifty - eighty

91-100 - Eighty one onward.

That would mean that you can saw "YES i grou up to level 70!" but only beyond the 50th floor. That would be an idea)

"Mmm... well I have only 3 levels more before the limit cap.... so why not?" Black answered to Lock.

"All right, let's go" Lock responded, and walked out of the inn to the town's main plaza. He was surprised by just how many people had already made it to the town. [Wow, we really need to pick up the pace.] Lock thought, when he saw a man standing outside the carpenter's shop with a quest bubble over his head.

"Oh good, help has arrived! Last night my shop was robbed by some monsters. They stole three of my wood carvings. Do you think you could retrieve them for me? I'll be happy to compensate you with 800 Gil and some rope." the man, who apparently was the carpenter, said.

Lock turned toward Vash and Black, "What do you guys think, should we take the quest?"

(I think we're all at about different levels, the cap for this floor is lv 11 though. Kei's probably around level 8.)

"Right." Kei smiled. "So, uh... You didn't happen to hear anything that girl said, did you?" She asked, hopeful that they'd be able to find something out.

"My name is Abisk." He introduced. "She is a "friend" of our's." The sarcasm on the word friend was so obvious it could have smacked anyone upside the head, even if they were oblivious.

Wolf chuckled softly and shook her head.

"Nope. Been going solo since the game started." She said and crossed her arms.

(Sure. xD)

"Really? Hm... Hey, want to join us? We could always use a new member!" Kei offered. She looked back at Abisk, and leaned in to whisper to Wolf. "It'd be nice to have another girl in our party, too... I'm the only one."

"Abisk. Does it seem like the level cap is more restrictive then the beta?"

Aether was calmly standing behind them all, impassive and honestly non-caring. She had both her Black Iron Sword and her Tempered Anneal Blade on her back, but it didn't really look awesome with her horrible starting outfit under the better armor.

"And hello." She said as an afterthought towards the others, but mainly looked at Absik.

(I'm just gonna do this because why not.)

Abisk's first reaction was to turn around with hand on his Anneal Blade, but noticing it was Aether, he relaxed a little. "I haven't hit the cap yet. I'm taking my time, most people won't be to whatever the cap is for a while, anyway, and you remember the first boss, it took somewhere near one-hundred Beta Tester's to beat the first one, even with good amount of revivals and retry's allowed. We have to hope that either a large number of fighters get to the cap or a small group of very-skilled players take it on, but the number would still have to be somewhere near thirty-five. I think. unless we got some special Sword Skills developed and the best equipment this floor has to offer, even still...." He thought it over. "Next time, don't sneak up on me." he added.

(Thank you. :3)

Wolf thought for a moment then nodded.

"Alright." She grinned. "It'll be fun with more people like you around." She looked at the random girl that appeared behind Abisk, then saw her name. Aether.

"Um. Who's she?" Wolf asked Kei.
