Sword Art Online: Another Log-In (Roleplay Thread)

Keimei looked around at the crowd in the center plaza of the Starting Town. "Why was I just taken here...?" She asked aloud. She'd only been playing for a couple hours, and had decided to get into the combat system before finding anyone to team up with. She looked around the crowd, noticing a lot of other people were also teleporting there. Suddenly, the sky above her turned blood red. A cloaked figure appeared over the square, and hovered there.

"Hello everyone, and welcome to SAO." A voice boomed over the crowd. "You're likely wondering who I am... My true identity will remain secret. However, I will tell you this; I have hacked into SAO. Some of you may have noticed that there isn't a log-out button... That's because I've removed the option to log out. I've trapped you all in the game..." He paused, as the crowd was dead silent. He eventually continued. "Why have I done this? Simple. I've wanted a world of my liking. In this world, I've surpassed even the game's creator, Kayaba Akihiko. Here, I control you all... Unless, of course, you can clear all 100 floors. However, that's impossible..." He cackled. "Also, to warn you... If you die in the world of SAO, the NerveGear will fry your brain in the real world, killing you in both. If anyone attempts to remove your NerveGear, you will also die. Now then, before I leave, I have a gift for you..." Suddenly, a mirror appeared in Keimei's inventory. She used it, out of curiosity. There was a sudden flash of light, and she shut her eyes...

When she opened her eyes, she felt different. She looked into the mirror... That's... my real face in the mirror... She looked in horror. Aside from her hair color, which was the same shade of red that she'd made it in-game, she looked exactly like she did in real life.

"Now then... With this, I must leave. Good luck in Aincrad... You'll need it." A maniacal laughter echoed along the buildings, as the figure disappeared.

After the echoes, there was silence. After what felt like ages, people began rioting. "We're doomed!" "I can't be trapped in the game, I've got a meeting in an hour!" "That had to all be some sick joke!" Keimei looked around in confusion. She didn't know what to do. She looked around frantically.

I have to get out... The only way to do that is to fight, and I'll need partners... Man, I really wish my friends had been able to get the game so I wouldn't be alone in this. She dashed through town, weaving her way through the crowd and into the streets. She tried to look around for someone, anyone who was also rushing to go fight.

"Yeah, I know, I was the guy mainly beta-ing it in the beginning, so I know every route there is to it" He made a left turn where one normally, seeming to disappear into a wall. "But be careful. The monsters in here can fight well in the dark," He said, pulling out his swords, he clashed them together to create sparks, causing a spark to light some wood from an old house on fire, making a small torch. "I was hoping to just find the house with supplies needed to go darker, but a torch is fine." He sighed.

"As long as we've got something to keep me from tripping..." Keimei sighed, and continued along the tunnels. "So, what's the creature like anyway...?" She tried to start some sort of conversation, but a few basic imps ambushed the party in the darkness. Keimei drew her sword. "I'm guessing it's not one of these guys, though..." She charged at one, and slashed at it a few times. The imp countered with an attack from a spear, stabbing at Kei's arm. "Switch!" She shouted, going back to let Abisk have a go at the imps.

"Yeah!" He switched in, stabbing through one of the Imps and killing it, then using a Sword Skill to mow down another. "Also, know this: NPC enemy's will always be hit by a Swords Skill, so long as your initial Motion Input is good." Absik noted as he struck the Imp. "Switch!"

"Right!" Keimei covered for Abisk, using a Sword Skill to take down one imp, then slashing through another. "Heh, this is all feeling a lot more natural now." She smirked, looking at the rest of the imps. She stabbed one, and sliced through a fourth. "Switch!"

Lock smiled and drew his hammer. Finally he could stop feeling useless and bash some enemy AI heads! He bashed in the head of one of the imps, and sent anther flying into the wall. He wanted to try his sword skill, or hammer skill, or whatever it was called, but decided that the tunnel was too narrow to try something like that. A third imp struck him from behind, but the simple brown cloak he'd bought prevented him from being damaged too badly.

"Switch!" Lock shouted after taking down the third imp. After all, he didn't want to hog all the fun for himself.

"Got it!" Switching in, Abisk knocked the lance up of the enemy and followed it with the green Sword Skill from before, knocking out on of the imps and heavily damaging another. "Switch!"

Keimei switched into the battle, finishing off the imp that Abisk had injured, and slashing through a couple imps at once. She used her Sword Skill to wipe out another one, as well. "Switch!"

Aether was surrounded by eight Imps. The town was in sight. She could make it and get the quest forsix hundred col anda dagger she could sell for an additional one hundred. But unfortunately she was surrounded by Imps. She was completely calm though.

Gripping her Tempered Anneal Sword, she charged, using a green Sword Skill to damage two Imps before using a flurry of blue Skills to take down three. As they struggled up Aether set upon another, but this time only kicked it back before using a yellow Skills on the next.

She looked at the last three. Two other Imps were charging, so in the end they all charged. Health at half. No worries.

Jumping up at the last moment, they lanced each other. Two outright died while the rest managed to avoid it. She dropped down and used a Sword Skill to take down three near death Imps before retreating. The last three gave chase, but she was already in the town.

Safe.

Collapsing down, she downed a health potion, then got up and began to hurry for the quest.

Hopefully she had moved faster then the other Beta Testers.

"Thanks Lock!" Vash switched back in, opening up with his sword skill, charging up his sword. "FEEL MY WRATH YOU MONSTERS!" He slashed through one Imp and and quickly putting up his sword for defense. The imps surrounded him and he got hit twice from behind, and the other monsters took the chance to attack him at the front and he got hit 3 more times, knocking his health into the red. "Damn it!" He fell to the ground quick, and he quickly got into a defensive position. He was about to switch out, when he saw that a Green Aura surrounded him, and he felt the pain dissapate. He looked towards his HP bar and he was slowly getting 5 HP back every 3 seconds. He looked towards Abisk. "HEY BETA TESTER! What's going on? My health got knocked into the red and i started to defend and all of a sudden my HP started to recover. What is this? I thought there wasn't magic in this game?"

Keimei switched into the battle, finishing off the imp that Abisk had injured, and slashing through a couple imps at once. She used her Sword Skill to wipe out another one, as well. "Switch!"

"You probably have the In-battle Healing Skill. It's pretty OK in the early game to have, and I doubt it will stop being useful for a while!" Abisk yelled, running over and clearing out a few of the Imps that were surrounding Vash to help him out. "Switch!"

"Right!" Keimei jumped in, and used her Sword Skill to take out the last imp. "That's the last of them!" Keimei grinned, glad that the fight was done. "Nothing too tough with the four of us here. Now then... Are we nearly to the thief?" She asked Abisk.

"Hold your horses, first we need to check if we're all OK, next, heal as necessary." He checked the HP of everyone, not bad, save for Vash. "Catch." He said, throwing a potion over to Vash. "Drink up, In-Battle recovery only occurs, of course, in battle." He said. "Next, yes, we're nearly there. But first, I want to find a specific type of Imps that live down here called "Shiny Imp"'s. They drop the first metal Ingot of the game and I can use it to forge a new weapon, unless everyone else here is good on equipment." He said.

"Well, can't argue with a new weapon." Keimei agreed. "Shiny Imp, you say... Too bad we didn't find one in that group." She sighed. "We'll probably find one soon, though... So, let's keep going, then." She motioned for Abisk to lead the way.

"Okay, let's go." He turned to the left immediately and opened the door of the house next to them, entering it, there was a treasure chest, inside, a few potions and a little Gil, nothing more, he then walked right back out of the house. "Okay, forward!" He yelled, beginning to run strait forward, and then taking a left and a right.

"Hey, slow down! You've got our light source, you try running in the dark!" Keimei ran to catch up, stumbling occasionally. She barely managed to figure out what path Abisk had taken, otherwise, she would have gotten lost.

Vash caught the potion. "Thanks Abisk, ill hold on to this for later. Also, quick question, if i'm in battle, and I switch out with a player, does the in battle recovery still work if i switch out and am not doing the fighting?"

"Well, can't argue with a new weapon." Keimei agreed. "Shiny Imp, you say... Too bad we didn't find one in that group." She sighed. "We'll probably find one soon, though... So, let's keep going, then." She motioned for Abisk to lead the way.

"A shiny imp? That's the one with the item drop? Sounds alot like a mechanic in an RPG that i've played before. What was it, Pokemanz or something? Well anyway lets get going." He followed Abisk.

"Sorry, I keep having to remember I'm in a party." He said, slowing down. "As for In-Battle with switch, I think so, I've never tried it myself because I'm normally a solo player." He said, waiting up for everyone.

"Sorry, I keep having to remember I'm in a party." He said, slowing down. "As for In-Battle with switch, I think so, I've never tried it myself because I'm normally a solo player." He said, waiting up for everyone.

"So, you were a solo player in the beta? I can't imagine what it would be like to be on my own in one of these games. Whenever I play an MMO, I always form a party with my friends from school..." She stopped there, realizing what a bad idea it was to bring them up. Thinking of the real world made her remember the horrible death trap she was caught in, and made her remember that she might never see her friends again... She wiped away a few tears, hoping the darkness prevented the others from noticing them. "You weren't planning to go solo after the hack, were you? It's too dangerous to go alone in this mess..."

As Lock was catching up with the party, a rope grazed the top of his head. Nobody probably noticed it before because they weren't as tall as he was, so they wouldn't have touched the rope. He tugged on the rope a little, and it seemed sturdy enough to hold his full weight. He could see only darkness above him.

"Hey guys, I think I found something!" Lock called out to the others.

"Huh? What is it, Lock?" Keimei turned back to Lock, trying to find what it was that he'd found. "A rope...? I wonder what that's here for... Abisk, you have any ideas?" She asked, curious about the rope. "Of course, there's only one way to know for sure... Anyone up for some climbing?"

"Not sure, it wasn't there in the Beta, but I wouldn't advise going up there, not yet, it could be a trap, and we don't want that. Still, keep it in mind, after floor two is opened up, we can go ahead and tackle it, but I think it's safer to hold on it at the moment." He said, looking down the hall. "We're almost to the monster... Just a right turn and strait for a little." He muttered.

The quest was simple. Kill monster. Get some decent materials for forging. Alright.

Gripping her blade, she set out. Aether had to find better weapons. During Beta she had found a coveted Elucidator dropping monster but failed to get it. Another beta had and recieved the sword.

She took a breath, hurrying up. She might find a Shiny Lizard Commander if she went far off the beaten path; they dropped some decent swords. Maybe even a Lucidia. Yeah.

Just had to be careful. Can't die.

Not now.

"I planned on it, at least till the major guilds set up or I found some people I trusted." He said as Lock found something and Kei asked him something.

"Well hold on a second Abisk. I mean, i know you were a beta tester, but think about it. If that physchopath of a creator wanted to make the game more interesting, don't you think he would've changed some things so the beta testers wouldn't get ahead too much? Maybe we should check out this path?"

"This one would be unnecessary to change, the map layout changes every time someone enters it, so it would be pointless anyway." He said, looking at the rope. "Besides, I would trust what I know more than what I don't."

(He means until he met a hot girl who asked him to join her party)

"Oh..." Keimei was a little disheartened to hear that the guy who'd helped the party so much almost ended up going solo. He said he'd only stay for a short while, but she hoped that he'd change his mind and stay with them. "Right, it would probably be best to wait a little before we head up there... At least we're almost to the thief, though." She followed Abisk through the last few turns.

Guys, I think I'm gonna have to drop out of the RP. Not just waiting for Robin, but also just time-zone restraints in general. Everyone else is always posting hours after my bedtime, and with school starting up and midterms underway, not to mention some personal projects, I can't keep up anymore. I hope everyone understands, and I bid farewell to what I hope will turn into a marvelous RP.
