It was really weird today. I was in my history class and my professor is like. " guess what class since we are talking about World War 2, we are going to watch a wartime (1940s) cartoon about Donald Duck having a nightmare about working for Nazi Germany. In the cartoon Donald had to say "hail Hitler " every single time he seen a picture of Hitler. It hit me right in the childhood.

I've already see it.  While people like to use it saying Walt was a nazi sympathizer the cartoons are actually mocking them.  

So yano.

They made use of current events at the time to relate.

That was painful to watch.

yea it was complete satire. they made them look crazy, stupid and very aggressive people ( Nazis). I can't even watch the old Loony Tunes ( the ones from the 1960s and 1970s) without getting mad. it is just too racist.

 

Now that was bad. They made fun of everybody back then. Blacks, Latinos Asians and Native Americans.I am not  sensitive about racial issues. But seeing that in a kids cartoon pisses me off.

In that era, it was the norm. And more adults watched animated shows than children.

Yea and that is one of the main reasons why I will never watch Loony Tunes again.

Least we don't do it much anymore

Adhering to a stereotype is grounds for discrimination

The Princess and the Frog was criticized at some point for have a "black voice" some character (forget which) cause it's stereotyping and then it was criticized for having a white person do it cause "suddenly black people aren't good enough".  Tiana's name was changed to a "whiter one" cause people complained Maddy was too black, too slave like.  

 

You can't win ever~

yea people will always complain about a least one thing being racist  (especially in America due to what happen to blacks in the past. ) but that does not mean I think everybody and everything is racist all the time ( even through I have been a victim of racism many times in high school. not jokes but real harassment ) . it is impossible to please all the people, all the time. And I understand that.

 

We can win, people just have to learn about how to be more understanding and more forgiving of what happen in past, So we can move forward towards a better future.
