We Need More Games That Are Like MGS3

Posted

Out of all the Metal Gear Solid games, Metal gear Solid 3 is by far my favorite in the franchise simply because of the amazing gameplay and it's story (don't get me wrong, the other MGS games had a fantastic story as well). But I really wish Kojima made another MGS game that was like MGS3. I really loved how MGS3 had a jungle setting and it really had a lot of good stealth elements like the different camo, disquises, ect. And I really loved how we had to keep up our stamina by killing and eating wild animals. That's what really made MGS3 one of my favorite games of all time. It just had the perfect gameplay to go along with a perfect storyline. And let's not forget about how creative the boss fights were, ESPECIALLY the boss fight against The End. That is truly, without a doubt, the best boss battle in the history of video games. I wish Kojima made another MGS game that took place in the jungle and had similar elements from MGS3. That would really be awesome if a MGS game took place in the forest like in MGS3.

What are your opinions on this?

Oh, how so many hardcore MGS fans would laugh in your face for that opinion. Luckily, I am in agreement. MGS3 is also my favorite in the series. I don't think games should be more like it, but I think more games should be at the level the MGS series is at in general. That is to say, really, really good. Most of the crap that's pooped out by the industry doesn't even compare.

Disagree completely. From a gameplay standpoint MGS4 improved upon it in every way (bar Old Snake's running speed). Constantly having to pause to treat a scratch, change your camo or eat (seriously?) was not fun. Never has one had to pause so many times in a game. I also found some story parts incredibly stupid. "Oh, you want to save your wife and kid, so you helped build a nuclear weapon which will be used to launch a war that could easily kill them both among any other loved ones?" Yeah. okay.

Plus the great thing about MGS is that each game takes place in different locations so you never get the same old same old. Why would I want to go back to the jungle?

You say MGS4 improved upon it in every way, yet most of my friends who liked playing MGS actually stopped with MGS4 because they hated it. MGS games are mostly preference. But MGS4 changed gameplay a lot, and people simply just liked the gameplay more from previous games, such as MGS3.Anyway, SNAKE EATEEEEEEER!

Well I wouldn't say it improved from MGS3it. MGS4 was great but gameplay-wise it wasn't as good as MGS3.

Thank you.

I'm terrible at being stealthy in games- in ACIII there was not one Redcoat that didn't see me

Well you just have to practice and get better at your stealth skills :P

They improved the controls, they improved CQC combat, they improved weapon customization, they improved the camouflage mechanic by having your suit adapt, they gave you more freedom of choice with how to play the game (Shoot or stealth it's your call) much moreso than the other games, allowed first person view movement, the MK.II, allowing Snake to influence Militia to gain minor gameplay advantages.

Opinions are opinions and preferring any game over another is fine. Especially with MGS as they are all high quality games. But MGS3 does NOT have better gameplay. That is not an opinion. It's like saying KH1 has better gameplay than KHIIFM. That just isn't true.

Mgs1 > Mgs2 > Mgs3 > Mgs4 For me. Reverse order when it comes to strictly gameplay.

It is not that they improved, more changed. With MGS4 they tried to make it a more likeable game to the new generation. And honestly made it a lot easier for new players. The gameplay before MGS4 is more old-school stealth, whereas MGS4 is more like Splintercell and such. But you cant sit there and say MGS3 gameplay is no way better. That is just ignorant.

I can though. And MGS has as much old school stealth as other games, if that's how you choose to play the game. Or you can go the Splinter cell route. MGS4 gives you freedom of choice. Yes, overall MGS4 has better gameplay than 3. Sorry but it's true. Like MGS2 having better graphics than MGS1. Some people prefer sprites (I do with certain games myself) but to say MGS1 has better graphics than MGS2 is just wrong, just like saying MGS3 has better gameplay than 4.

Comparing graphics to an older game and comparing gameplay is just silly. The gameplay between the games is different, not improved. You can have your own opinion MGS4 has better gameplay, but really that is like saying FFXIII has better gameplay then FFX.

The quality of the gameplay is in the eye of the beholder. For example, I personally prefer KH1's gameplay over KH2's. KH2's felt too button-mashy and relied too much on the Reaction commands, and magic felt useless in it. KH1 felt more strategic to me, which I personally liked a lot more than the fast paced action of KHII.

(I'd love to add to the MGS conversation, but I haven't played the games yet. >_< Yeah, I know, I'm a horrible person.)

It's ok. xD You've played many games others haven't but really should like the Mother series. As long as we're confessing...I haven't even seen a clip of Xenoblade much less played it. >.< I mean I know its an almighty gem so why haven't I played it?!

Phew, I was worried that saying I haven't played MGS yet wouldn't go over well with some people. xD I'm hoping to play them soon, though. As for Xenoblade, if you're already interested in it, you might not want to watch any videos on it. I avoided videos on it like the plague so I wouldn't get spoiled, and I'm glad I did. xD I think I just watched one trailer showing off the locations of the game, that was it.
