Most of us have seen the beloved Last Airbender show, and many have seen the movie adaptation. And let me tell you it is the worst adaptation I've ever seen in my life. M. Night Shamalan made this movie, and it blows. Literally.
1. The races were COMPLETELY off. It's obvious that Aang should have been Asian if his entire people were Asians. Katara and Sokka are supposed to be well tanned, they are butt white, while there entire tribe is dark, and asian. The water tribe, well done. The Fire Nation, all Indians, obviously should have been Japanese.
2.The acting sucked. The entire thing tried to cram 22 episodes in 90 minutes. It can't be done.
One of the things the cartoon series did so well was display character development, emotion, trials and error's and was relate able to all ages.
3. The bending was so slow, like a fellow Youtuber once said, I could heat a hot pocket before they do anything exciting. In the show, just ONE bender could do catastrophic damage. In a simple, simple move.
Here it's like they do a 15 second dance routine before they shoot anything out.
In this one sequence, it takes 6 dudes, covered, and surrounded by earth to gently move one boulder towards the bad guys.
In the show, the oppressed Earth bender really were oppressed. They were on a metal ship where they couldn't bend, having no hope. In this movie, they are completely surrounded by earth with few guards
I encourage you all to see this movie, but prepare to laugh at how awkward it is.
The last airbender series is my favorite of all time, and it's simply too perfect to adapt to. No movie should be made off of this, because it can't be done. It was a cute true by Shamalan but in the end, you failed.
The movie made over 300,000,000$ in total, but all of those were disapointed fans. You can get it for 99 cents.
