105 years ago certain individuals began to manifest superpowers called NEXT. Ever since these beings have taken different paths on how to use their new powers. Some decided not to be bothered,living normal lives. Ohers have used their powers to live a life of crime,having an advantage. The most well-known route however,has been that a select few of them have become costumed superheroes in order to protect their cities using their powers. Taking advantage of this companies began to sponsor these heroes,and with this came the birth of HeroTV in the capital of NEXT activity,Sternbild City. With HeroTv,heroes fighting crime is a commercialized commodity,its helicopters and cameras following the heroes as they commit heroic acts across the city,from the smallest to the most dangerous. This turned NEXT from being hated and scared by normal people to actually be appraised by them. Prejudice towards NEXTs still exists,but it is not as prominent or violent as it once had been. Any NEXT criminals to be caught will be transferred to Abbas Prison,the only prison in the world with cells that are capable of nullifying NEXT powers.

 

Many heroes have come and gone to be remembered forever within the HeroTv hall of fame. These include the iconic Mr.Legend,the first ever hero duo Tiger and Barnaby,and many others. But with heroes many villains have remained as part of Sternbild’s City history,such as infamous Lunatic,the treacherous Maverik,and the powerful Jake Martinez.

 

With new generations of heroes protecting Sternbild City,new generations of villains are sure to appear as well. Either a graduate from the NEXT Academy,found by a sponsor on the streets,or training for revenge,anything is possible within this city.

 

Things to know:

 

NEXT powers: When activated,NEXT powers generally surround the user with a blue glowing outline and turn the user’s eyes a bright blue as well. These abilities can vary from useful to not exactly useful (Such as super sweat),and can vary from elemental-based powers (ice,fire,etc.),Offense-based powers (Hundred Power,Diamond body,etc.),Defense-based powers (Barriers,impenetrable skin,etc.),and even mental-based powers (telekinesis,memory implantation,etc.)

 

Special cases of NEXT powers: There are two special cases of NEXT powers that have no explication,these are NEXT having two powers,and NEXT losing their powers, both of these being extremely rare.

 

A NEXT having two powers is rare and the only known NEXT recorded in history to have two powers was Jake Martinez. (Mind reading and Barriers)

 

A NEXT losing their powers is just as rare,and there are only two NEXT recorded in history that this has happened to them. (Mr.Legend and Wild Tiger) This will show when the NEXT notices that its powers become weaker,or don’t last as much as they should. The powers decrease and decrease until they disappears completely.

 

Sponsors: Most if not all heroes have sponsors,companies that will pay them if they are willing to promote their brand or products. They do this by having the brand names on somewhere in the hero’s costume,where the people can see it from time to time. Considering the Heroes are also treated as celebrities around the city,they make them do commercials,interviews,etc. The sponsors do know the true identity of the heroes that work of them at times. They’re the employers after all.

 

Heroes & Costumes: With sponsors come good costumes to fight evil in. Usually fit to please the eye and fit the hero’s personality and power,along with a catchy hero name. Heroes do prefer at times to keep their identity secret from the public to protect themselves and their families. The only known hero to have presented his true face to the public to know is Barnaby. Usually the hero’s costumes include using contacts to change eye color,using wigs or hair spray as well,to make the hero appearance completely different from their human one.

 

 

Sternbild City: Based off New York City,Sternbild is built in a three-tier style. The Bronze layer (bottom),the silver layer (middle),and the Gold layer (top). The higher the layer, the more opulent the lifestyle. Living accommodations are wide and varied, ranging from apartment complexes to traditional Japanese-style houses. In the center of the city is the Justice Tower, which serves as headquarters for the city's heroes.

Bio: Yuri was born in a big city across the world in a successful family. He is the youngest out of triplets. The middle triplet died due to complications,but its personality never exactly left. Yuri and his big sister grew up together,but they had very different personalities. While the sister was outgoing,he was more reserved to himself,and easily scared. As he grew up he developed an alternate personality,which he claimed for it to be their brother which never left. Of course the family just ignored it as childish nonsense. On their 10th birthday Yuri surprised everyone when he was able to change the color of the flames on the birthday cake. However the power did grow stronger than he could handle,and a fire occurred. No one got hurt,but the family home was burnt down. It was then that the parents were confronted with the reality that their youngest son was a NEXT. So after that night they took Yuri to a huge catholic school to stay for the day,promising they would come back later. They never came back for him. Years later he was visited by a woman that had heard rumors of a rainbow child within the catholic orphanage school. She took him to Sternbild City where she signed him up in the NEXT academy. After graduating she quickly made Yuri a hero for her company. He has been a hero for a year now,and has it harder than he makes it appear at times. 

Curious facts?: Yuri has a multi-personality disorder,however the other personality is what he says is his older brother that never really left,to which he calls Mad Hatter. They change places when it comes time to do the dirty jobs.

He hates vegetables.

Happiness. Joy. Free of worry. Those words described the students of the NEXT Academy. Azure stood watching behind the gates of the establishment,watching,waiting. He had traveled far and has gone through sinful jobs in order to get himself here to Sternbuild City. He would start his revolution here,and with the help of the media he would turn the people against the NEXT. Atleast,that’s what he hoped. The death of his friend,of his lover still lingered in his mind,every day,every night,it would never go away. It was to haunt him for eternity and forevermore beyond death. He walked around the property,walking into the surrounding woods as he opened his backpack,changing into his alter persona,the one that would make the NEXT tremble by mention of his name,the one that would accomplish this dream of his. Undertaker. Undertaker took out a knife,slitting his wrists deeply as the blood solidified into blades for his use. He walked through one of the back doors of the academy,open for the students to get in after athletics.

 

“Time to sacrifice the sinful.”

Yuri’s bracelet started to go off,glowing red. It took him by surprise as he fell back into the floor. He rubbed his head and groaned as he looked down at his bracelet.

 

“Another crime?”Yuri muttered as he pressed the buttom,a summary of the current crime appearing. The words murderer in NEXT Academy caught his eye the most. “No way!”Yuri said as he ran into his bedroom to change. Another count of murder,would it be the same person?! Even if it was who would be cocky enough to commit such while the sun was yet to seize?! Yuri didn’t had time to question any of that as he got his hat on and instantly turned into Mad Hatter. He jumped out the balcony,using his flames in order to fly off.

Rin's phone started playing her favorite english version of the Attack On Titan opening, and she knew immediately what that mean. It meant that a crime had occurred.

"Forget about sleep..." she sighed, getting up and changing rather quickly into her full KuroNeko uniform. She quickly ran out of her house, taking the roofs to NEXT Academy.

 

(Short post, I know. I am sorry...)

Sho stood in horror at the figure... So much slaughter... He dashed into the scene, wearing only his wig and contacts...

Gauss was silent for a moment as he considered Nightwing's recommendation.

"That could get us some of the answers we need, though that will put you on Albright's owner's radar." He replied. "I'm alright there, but you might not. Dangerous enemies to make, even for a hero."

Gauss walked to the door, then turned to Nightwing.

"Up to you. If you are willing to take the risk, then Albright's office is three blocks over and four down. Coming?"

Nightwing smiled slightly under his hood and behind his mask. "Wouldn't miss it for the world? And besides, isn't Albright's HERO a complete pushover? I could take 'im." Nightwing's voice was relaxed, trying to make light of the situation. To be absolutely honest, he didn't want to get onto any company's radar as a potential threat. But he had to. No way he was going to let some kind of crime like this go through, especially with the cops so passive these days. Besides, he didn't want to let Gauss go by himself. Sometimes Alex worried for his anti-social friend. Boy am I going to have a lot to write about tonight Sensei. Nightwing thought to himself, emerging from the bank.

Gauss gave a derisive snort at the mention of Albright's hero.

"That grandstander?" He replied, as he followed Nightwing out. "Little better then a poster boy. Any real danger, and he would wet his pants."

Outside the bank, he paused, considering a plan.

"The roof would be the bes t entry point."

He turned to Nightwing.

"Need to lift?" He asked, amusement in his voice.

Nightwing glanced at Gauss, a mischievous grin on his face. "A lift? Please." He said. He backed up a few steps, before sprinting at the wall. Before impact, he jumped, latching onto the wall with his gloved hand, and launching himself up further. He almost reached the top, but began to fall as his climax was reached. Before that though, his foot caught a windowsill, and the acrobat used that to jump back up to the roof. Now safely perched on top of the bank, he looked down to the electromagnetic hero. "I might as well be able to fly." He said, finishing off his previous statement. Nightwing turned back to the buildings overlooking the street. He began to sprint, dashing and leaping from rooftop to rooftop to get to Albright.

Underneath his mask, Gauss grinned slightly at Nightwing's display. The hero was talented and Gauss was learning his quirks. The Electromagnetic hero pulled one of the discs off his back, stepped on it and took off. As he flew to Albright, he made a few calls to his contacts, making sure he would have what he needed at Albright.

Gauss landed on the roof of Albright's office building about the same time Nightwing made it.

"Fine, I'll admit I am impressed." He said, somewhat grudgingly, to Nightwing.

As Gauss stepped further onto the roof, an alarm went off from an unseen laser trip wire. Gauss muttered a curse as a small detachment of "security guards" stormed the roof, wielding automatic smgs.

"Woulda preferred this to go down peacefully..." Nightwing muttered, taking out his escrima sticks, before launching himself into battle. One lashed out at him while he charged, but the boy hero slid under the simplistic punch, sweeping his legs out from under him. As the guard fell, Alex stood and stomped down on the fallen body, knocking him unconscious. Nightwing switched perspectives to two other guards, who were about to open fire. Alex waited a second longer for the hesitation to end. And jumped up into the air, leaving them shooting at empty air. He landed atop one guard's shoulders. The martial artist flipped off the body of his victim, sending him flying into his comrade. They both crashed off the roof onto a fire escape, out cold.

Gauss supported Nightwing's advance by warping and crushing the guns of a few of the guards that were already lining up shots, but left most of the fighting for Nightwing. A few guards broke off to rush Gauss, but were soon bound in scrap metal and smashed into the ground. The Electromagnetic watched Nightwing's fight as if studying the techniques for future use. The two that went over into the fire escape appeared to be the last of that wave of guards.

"Well done." Gauss commented as he walked to the door to the building the guards had come from.

It was a large sort that had been relocated after the guards. It was also metal. Gauss raised a hand that crackled with electricity as the door came under his control. He violently jerked his hand and the door went flying.

"Three floors down is a sever room. Our entry point. Follow and watch out for more guards."

With that Gauss entered the door to find a stairwell. He jumped over the rail and stared floating down the gap that ran ran up the stairwell. Guards on lower floors poked their heads to see the flying intruder, then there guns. The fired three round bursts as the moved up the stairs. Gauss's hands glowed as he started catching the bullets with his power and throwing them back, using them to impede without harming the guards.
