This was the entire point of me posting this article was because the issues don't lie where the article implies they do. Anyone who pays attention could see that that was the case.

Haha, true xD People were implying that there were other issues, apart from the media's r3tarded-ness and the daughter and father completely missing the point of the question, and I think that this was a perfectly suitable question as it raises a problem that can happen to real people, while teaching genetics.

I think KH13 should change their censorship so that instead of changing re:tard into "awesome" it changes into ________

This part of the article implied that there were more than one question ( as in plural questions) that were being asked meaning they were also trying to determine the father in one of those questions

"So you walk over, glance at the worksheet on DNA and blood type, and notice questions about a mother trying to determine the identity of her baby’s father.

On topic ,  although i feel it was inappropriate, I do recognize some valid points made in this thread as well where others would feel it wasn't .

Yeah, I think the other questions were about the sister of this mother trying to find out her child's identity (different person). I guess this situation is offensive as it implies that sleeping around and not knowing your child's father is a common problem.

Yeah like I said the way they apparently formatted the question or multiple questions seemed to throw the kid through a loop. But if the kid paid attention in class or the father had a better understanding of the subject the answer would have been obvious regardless of the format. Needless to say it led to confusing to them so it was blown out of proportion.

It's not that i disagree with what you are saying   - i'm just saying the article worded it in a way where this was implied to also be being asked and would cause confusion. And yes I do believe the media contorts facts to fit their agenda and on that i agree wholeheartedly.

Exactly

The way how I see it, I'd say the parent is severely undereducated about the subject at hand and is just overreacting.

You know what? Screw being politically correct. It's stupid for this parent to try and make it a big deal. There are bigger things to worry about in that guy's neighborhood other than wording on a homework. For crying out loud, THEY'RE IN UPPER DETROIT, HOW THE F**K HAVEN'T THEY DIED IN A RANDOM DRIVEBY?!?!

Here's a better question:

Police were called to a home after a neighbor informed them of strange noises coming from next door.  At the scene police discovered blood splotches on the floor of the living room.  They found a middle aged women unconscious at the scene as well as a young man whom they apprehended.

While the woman was not in a state to give a testimony, the young man told the police that the woman was his mother and it was his father, now missing, who had attacked the woman.  Since there were signs of a struggle, police believed there was a possibility that one of the DNA samples they collected could belong to the culprit, whom the young man named as his father.

The state police ran DNA tests on those apprehended at the scene and the samples from the blood splotches.  Based on the information in the table below, why did the police quickly rule out the young man's story?

There.  No more moral dilemma about what we're teaching kids.  They are working with the police to solve a matter of what could be "domestic violence" which a high schooler can handle.
