Hmm...I don't know about the whole "it was supposed to be a continuation" deal. I'm pretty sure Nomura had his idea about the story of Kingdom Hearts from the very beginning.

 

Sora being the main character, etc.

i dont know what mickey mania is...but mickey was supposed to be the protagonist of kingdom hearts at the beginning...

I doubt it was supposed to be a continuation (just more fan-made theories made by people and put on the internet in hope of making it more credible, like Sora + Riku/Axel + Roxas were gonna bang like firetruck til Disney was all no).  Kingdom Hearts was thought of because they wanted a 3D word like Mario 64, but thought Disney characters were the only ones popular enough to compete, and then they decided to throw FF characters in.  The continuation thing is a tiny bit of "trivia" written on a user-made wiki version of Mickey Mania (the more official one with the full game title, pictures and additional information doesn't include it at).  Just people throwing their thoughts out to try and cement it as fact.  

 

Regardless, from the look of it it looks like an interesting boss fight could be based off it for Mickey in KH.

He wasn't supposed to be like it was scrapped later on, each company had different wants for it.  SE wanted Mickey (Disney didn't want them piggybacking of his popularity), Disney wanted Donald and Nomura wanted an original character.  They eventually approved Sora.
