How Disney Chanel is actually better than NBC

Posted

*Please note that this is not based on the quality of the shows (even though I will argue that Disney Chanel has better show that adult networks), but on the way those shows are run.*

Disney Chanel

  • Cancels show at the end of a season.
  • Runs all filmed episodes.
  • Ends with something that wraps up series.

NBC

  • Cancels show after three episodes.
  • Runs only episodes that aired before show was canceled.
  • Doesn't even attempt to wrap up series.

In conclusion, whether the shows aired are decent or not, Disney Chanel manages them better.  Don't agree?  Two words: Star Trek.  If it had first aired on today's NBC, it would have never taken off.

You realize all three of those things connected?

Anyway, Tron: Uprising proves this wrong. It was cancelled after 19 episodes, we never saw an ending nor did we even get a statement from Disney. It was like Disney deleted the show.

Well, at least there was a show to speak of.  19 episodes is a whole lot better than 3.  Still most of the shows have lasted at least one full season, and with Tron, I felt like we did get what was promised.

How on earth did we get what we were promised? It was getting so good and then they just cancelled it.

Either way at least they tried.  NBC just gave up before anything really happened.

I'm guessing you've had one show that was cancelled? Lol.

There was one that was cancelled after three, count them, episodes.  How stupid is that?

Pointless to do this over one show though. I understand it sucks, but this happens all the time on various networks and channels.

I know and it's stupid.  At least there are some networks that try.

As long as they don't cancel TBL, atm it's NBC>Disney Channel for me.

Doesn't every major network in America cancel stuff for the sake of it at some point? I recall a certain Fox cancelling a brilliant Futurama on the basis that it didn't bring the viewers that The Simpsons did and it even cancelled Family Guy twice (though I hate Family Guy just throwing that out there). Not gonna lie (as I am not from America) I had to google what NBC do actually produce and yeah... they cancel a LOT of stuff.

Certain shows remain on the air that I personally think should have been cancelled long ago but it's all about viewers in America and if you don't get the viewers then you're not going to survive on air. That's why Tron: Uprising got cancelled without an ending. That's why Firefly needed to be wrapped up with a movie. There's many others too.

But Star Trek didn't have the viewers at first either and look where it is now.  IMO cancelling without an ending is only going to tick off the viewers who did watch it.  And when you make customers mad, they're not going to come back.

The original Star Trek was cancelled after 3 or so seasons when it started to decline. Although it is true that NBC shouldn't have cancelled such an iconic show at the time and they probably regret it now.

While we're talking about sci-fi, in the UK the BBC cancelled Doctor Who a number of times throughout its run due to declining viewers. It may be untouchable nowadays thanks to the internet and its fangirls but if those viewer numbers ever do eventually go down in the next few years (and I mean drastically) then you can bet that the show will be cancelled.

I agree that cancelling a show without an ending is wrong and NBC (or anyone else) shouldn't greenlight a show if they don't see it going beyond so many episodes. I think they should stop requesting shows with 20 odd episodes and maybe give new shows at least 10 and see where the show goes from there. Otherwise, like you said it'll tick off the viewers who did like the show if they abruptly cancel it.
