So, has it ever occurred to anyone how the concept & layout of The Swan Princess is significantly similar to the Disney Movies of the late 1970s & early 1980s?  This includes (but is not limited to) The Fox and the Hound, Oliver and Company, and The Rescuers.

Why is that the case?

Was it made in the same time frame?

Maybe I'm just dumb, but all that seems similar to me about them is that they all feature animals and humans in important roles. Is that it?

If so, then.. so what?

If not, then.. please explain a bit more.

Well the Swan Princess almost became a Disney film.

Because it was created by a Disney producer who was unemployed by the same company and started his own company. The film was almost to become a Disney movie but they preferred Alladin and The Lion King (two amazing films) and stupidly missed the oportunity to make THIS AMAZING Movie wich is considered the best non-Disney movie ever. If only they buy it's rights, because I think it has so much potential, I truly love Odette, she is Beautiful, a true Princess of the Heart!!! A true addition to Disney universe!

Definitely!!  I can picture it being in Kingdom Hearts.  If I do achieve my Dream Job of working for Disney someday, then I will recommend buying the rights to it.  The same for "The Brave Little Toaster" (John Lasseter and many Pixar members originally worked on THAT one, so I consider it a "Semi"-Pixar/Disney Film).
