Twitter following glitch?

I got an email saying someone followed me on twitter, but the next day when i went to send a direct message, they were not following me anymore. I told them that i got an email saying that they were following me but could not send them a direct message. They r following me now, but is that a glitch or did they just follow me then unfolllow then follow again?

    That happened to me several times.

     

    Sometimes when someone unfollows me the "follows you" keeps there, even though he/she is not doing it anymore.
