....in the scene where Xion starts to tell Roxas about why she was made,why she needs to kill Roxas or whatever,instead of her taking the appearance of Sora,it should have just been Kairi?Ive been thinking about this for a little while,and looking back on it,Im not sure why she had to take the appearance of Sora.Its been a while since I played it,but if I remember correctly,the entire point of that was to represent that she is a part of Sora.....but did this really need to happen?In the end she is part of Sora cause of memories and whatnot,but in the end she looked the way did she did to begin with because she has Sora's memories of Kairi,so in the end,couldnt they just have made her be Kairi and still get across the same message?Hell,people already say shes more or less just a tweaked up Kairi,so go all the way,plus Id think it be more entertaining to see Roxas's reaction towards seeing Kairi and have that jog something up like the last scene with him and Riku,it just feels like it would have been a better choice and leave a lot less people scratching their heads when they saw that scene,I know I did..

She was suppose to be a perfect replica of Sora but his memories of Kairi were to strong, add to that she and roxas kept stealing power from each other, basically the more power she siphoned from Roxas the closer to a perfect clone of sora she became.

Atleast that is how i have always seen it.

SHE IS A REPLICA OF SORA!!Why should she be a Kairi clone when her intended purpose that Xemnas and Vexen created her for is to absorb Sora's memories alongside Roxas and become the new Sora....which in turn would fulfill Master Xehanort's plan of getting the 13th darkness for his organization

 

the only reason she looked like Kairi is because Sora's memory of her were strong thus it was reflected on her appearance...but that's mainly for Roxas and Axel cuz the other members see her as something else

Heck, even Axel claims that when he first saw her face for the first time she looked exactly like Namine, as Namine was probably the only other person connected to Sora that he met after meeting Roxas. Xion was NEVER meant to be Kairi, although the story teases you for a while with the idea that she might be. XION WAS MEANT TO BE SORA. She was meant to be a clone. That's why she started to appear as Sora to everyone who had met him towards the end of the game, that's why she appeared as Sora to Roxas on the clocktower. If she turned into Kairi, it would not have meant anything even close to what it meant when she turned into Sora. It wouldn't be better, it would be confusing and would never add up. I get that you haven't played the game in a while, but maybe it's time to play it again, because if you go through the story knowing that Xion is supposed to be a clone of Sora by taking memories and powers of Sora through Roxas, the story of the whole game will make SO MUCH MORE SENSE to you. But no, Kairi has nothing to do with her existence, other than the fact that she's composed of Sora's memories of Kairi. That's why she likes seashells. That's why she wants to go to the beach. I think he only saw the HD cutscenes...which btw cuts off almost 60% of the game including key scenes within the organization like Roxas's battle with Saix ....etc

Nah, it wouldn't have made any sense with Kairi. It all comes down to understanding Xemnas' plan in the first place, though. He never wanted to recreate Kairi. If she'd been created post-Castle Oblivion it might have worked from a 'oh well maybe he's trying to replace Namine' standpoint, but that was never the case. Xion was specifically created to harness the power of Sora's Keyblade. Due to repeating complications, it was easier in the end for their to only be one of them. Xemnas didn't need both Roxas and Sora's replica.While Xemnas liked the idea of two, and had hoped for it, it was clear to see one would never survive. He'd had his last straw with Xion, so either she was going to fight Roxas to prove herself and take his place, or that was the end of her. She was placed in a position where she was going to die no matter what. Rather than immediate death at Xemnas' hands, she opted to face Roxas as a warrior instead - the most honorable way to go, given the situation - she was near the peak of her strength because of how much she'd absorbed from him via Sora's memories. She was literally becoming Sora - it was what she was made for!Inevitably, it would have made more sense if she'd simply won that fight. Afterall, she was stronger. She threw the fight! She just really wanted to see Roxas one last time and give him a chance to run. But from the very start, she was being watched. I'm pretty sure whatever 'devices' Xemnas had Saix equip to her would lead to her self-destruction if she'd tried to escape again or waited too long to eliminate Roxas.

Xion's appearance is ever changing. Constantly changing in fact whenever she's around Roxas. She's always sucking in memories when she's near him so she has the potential to change into whatever people Sora's memories contain. It's just that she looked like kairi first since Sora's memories of her are the most powerful. As time passed, she began to absorb more and more memories and she began to take the appearance of other people (cutscene in destiny islands where you see roxas turn to xion turn to riku turn to sora). Her appearance was unstable as she absorbed even more of Sora's memories. Then near the end of the game, she was nearly complete (i mean she almost became what she was meant to be: a replica of sora) and contained almost all of Sora's memories. This caused her to take on the appearance of Sora. Her appearance looking like Sora was what she was meant to look like according to the organization in the first place. Its just that it took a while and she looked like Kairi first since she slowly obtained Sora's memories through Roxas. Get it?

 

She is meant to be Sora's replica. It took a while to get there.

No,I have owned the game,beaten it twice in fact.I had my fun with it and then gave it to my cousin who wanted to get in the series more.

But like Ive said,it has been a long while since Ive played the game.

Listen, I know you'd rather see it in a particular way, but the fact is that THAT kind of ending would have been even more confusing. Xion turning into Sora was more straightforward, it was enough of a WTF moment, but not so confusing as to not make any sort of sense. If you follow everything from square one then by the time you hit that scene it all makes sense. But if you wanted to see something as unwarranted as Xion straight up looking like Kairi, despite the fact that she hadn't had been reported to ever do so, and then confuse the viewer by making her look like all of these other characters, then I'm sorry, but it's not something that I see anyone else backing up. The overflow is already apparent, you don't have to go out of your way to make it obvious to the viewer. You can write a fanfiction or something about it if it satisfies your desire for the idea to become material, but fact is that the ending is the way it is, and in my opinion it's probably better. I can't really imagine anything else that would have made this scene "better", it's already fine the way it is, it doesn't need changing. I'm sorry if I sound like I'm shutting you down. I don't want to make you feel bad for having ideas, I just wanted to say and explain what I thought about it. I hope this doesn't anger you or anything.  :unsure:

Ok, glad you took it well. For the record, I find that the actual ending was executed perfectly, and I can't really imagine it occurring in any other way that would have justified all of the events that previously happened in the game.

Yes, Xion absorbs memories and strength from Roxas/Sora (whatever) but it depends on who is perceiving her, and how many memories she has absorbed, what form she takes. For instance, she begins by looking like kairi to Axel and Roxas, but notice she doesn't lift her hood to the other members? Later, when she reveals her face to Xigbar - Xigbar sees her as Ventus (due to Sora harbouring Ven's heart). 

 

Throughout the game, Roxas sees flashes of Sora's memories and slowly learns who he is, and what he means to him. The moment it all comes together, when Xion lines up the final pieces for him, he sees her as Sora - symbolising understanding of their fates and tied identities, and that Xion had absorbed as much as she could without destroying Roxas.

 

 

So in a word: No, it would have made little to no sense.
