To everyone who says that Rayquaza isn't catchable in Ruby/Sapphire: Your wrong. I have Sapphire and I own a Rayquaza, but you have to beat the Elite four first and need the mach bike for the puzzle in the sky tower. And you don't need both Groudon and Kyogre in order to catch him, I only had Kyogre.

As someone who accidentally ran away from Groudon and didn't save before the fight against him (it was my first Pokemon game I hadn't a clue so yeah..), you didn't need either Groudon or Kyogre to catch Rayquaza. All you had to do was beat the Elite Four and Steven and then head to Sky Pillar. He was up there and he was lvl 70.

I'm not sure why some think Rayquaza wasn't catchable, every Pokemon game that has a main trio makes the 3rd one available. Examples being, Rayquaza was available in Ruby/Sapphire, Giritina was available in Diamond/Pearl, Kyurum was available in Black/White and Zygarde was catchable in X/Y.

Though Zygarde is a bit of an iffy one as we still don't know the deal with XY if they are getting a Z version or sequels yet. But nevertheless he still falls under the trio with Xerneas and Yvetal.
