Alright, so... In less than a month, I'll be 17. That means I'll have one more year before I become an adult. So, because I'm weird, I figured it'd be fun to go back and play through some of my old favorites for that year. Now, it won't be my top 12 games or anything like that. They'll all be games that I consider important to me, for whatever reason that might be. I've decided to dedicate each month to a specific game (Doesn't mean that's the only game I'll play that month, but I just want to organize it this way), from this June to next June. I don't have everything set yet, but I've got some good ideas so far. I decided to put this on KH13 to hold myself to this easier, and because... Well, why not? Anyway, here's what I've decided on so far, and why:
2014:
June: The World Ends With You- In terms of when I got the games, this is the most recent one on this list. So, I decided to go with it first. Why did I choose this game? Well, I personally find it to be a really different game. I find almost everything about the game to be executed near-perfectly. I also really like the story, as well as Neku's character. I figured this would be a good starting point for me.
July: Half Life- I'd always hated shooters growing up. I'd always thought it was impossible for them to have depth in their gameplay, or great storylines. One of my friends was a huge fan of Half Life. He tried for months to convince me to get this game. When the free remake, Black Mesa, was released, I decided to give it a shot. However, the game didn't work properly for whatever reason. A few months later, I bought the original version through a Steam sale. After all, what was there to lose? I wasn't expecting anything too big from it. However, I was hooked from the start to the finish. I was completely surprised by how much depth there was in this game. This game taught me that not every FPS is bad.

May: Pokemon Silver- This was my first Pokemon game, with Pokemon being one of my favorite game franchises of all time. Pokemon's a series I like for a ton of reasons, and it's very important to me. Silver's always been my favorite, and I decided to save this one for the second to last game
June: Kingdom Hearts (PS2)- Ah, good old Kingdom Hearts. Ever since the first game came out, I've always loved this one. Each time I play it, I still get the childlike sense of wonder and excitement that I did as a kid. It's my all-time favorite game, and it's not without its reasons. Why not end this off with a game I consider so important in my life?
Other games that I plan on including, but haven't decided where to put them:
Kirby Super Star Ultra- This game is one that I absolutely never get tired of. There's something about this game that makes it impossible for me to get bored with it. I absolutely love every part of this game, and decided that that's all it needed to earn a spot in this.
Super Mario Galaxy- I'll be honest. When I first got this game, I wasn't too thrilled with it. It was fun, but it didn't really seem to be all that great. After a few years, a Youtuber I looked up to (and still look up to) announced he would play through this game. I decided to pick it back up to prepare myself for his playthrough, and fell in love with it. It's a beautifully crafted game, and it really used every single feature of the Wii to its fullest potential. It's one of my favorite games on the system now.
Sly Cooper: Band of Thieves- This is an old childhood favorite of mine. Both myself and my brother have been huge fans of the Sly Cooper games for years now, and this one's my favorite. It perfectly balances what 1 and 3 did well, and has a really interesting story.
Final Fantasy VI- A few years ago, I got more into RPGs. I began with the original Final Fantasy, and played a lot of Square's older games. When I played FFIV, I thought no other FF game, or traditional RPG for that matter, could top it. My friend convinced me to get Final Fantasy VI, telling me that it's a lot better than IV. I didn't want to believe him. I slogged through the start of the game, and took my time with it. About halfway in, I decided to take the game seriously. From that time on, I didn't just play the game: I experienced it. I didn't really stop to think about how much I liked it, I was busier enjoying everything about the game. Once I defeated Kefka, and watched the ending cutscene roll, I'd discovered that I'd proven myself wrong: This game easily topped FFIV. It's an experience that I've never really felt in my life, and it was an incredible moment for me. Since then, this has been one of my favorite games of all time. I figured it easily deserves a spot in this.
Chrono Trigger- This was a game I'd heard a LOT about growing up. However, I never had the chance to play it. Well, until I was in eighth grade, anyway. It was around the same time that I'd first gotten into the FF series, and was at the peak of my excitement for those games. As I said earlier, FFIV was one of my favorite games of all time back then. When I found this bundled with FFIV for the original Playstation, I couldn't refuse. A game that I'd heard so much praise for, bundled with the uncut version of one of my favorite games of all time? Of course I'd get it! I started out slowly with this, but towards the end, played it more and more. I loved every part of the experience, and I consider this a shining example of how to make an RPG.
So.. That's it for now. I'm still planning it out, I hope I can figure things out before June.
