Mario Kart 8- Interesting Combinations

Posted

Just, explain one (or a few) combinations you've found. Feel free to talk about it's pros and cons!

I've found one so far, and it works great.

Biddybuddy

Shy Guy (Or I assume any light character)

Biddybuggy

Roller Wheels

Since Shy Guy is my main, he is the star of this combo.

Pros

  • Has very high Acceleration
  • Very good handling
  • Decent Traction

Cons

  • (More or less a con) Has pretty low speed.
  • Pretty easy to push around.

This combination is pretty nice when you have a lot of acceleration and handling. Sure it takes a hit from speed, but there are a lot of corners within Mario Kart 8. If you keep using boosts, like ramps (or anything that pushes you up) You're sure to go far and fast. Try to bump into others in Anti-Gravity Sections! Just be careful around Heavyweights. You should be able to eat it up decently, but you're at a decent risk. Speed almost doesn't matter with this combination. It's nice.

-Courses to test on-

Shy Guy Falls

Wario Stadium

Dolphin Shoals

'Hat's all.

Lemme know if you wanted to correct something, add something, or anything.

I found Rosalina with the Flame Rider, Crimson Slim, and Parafoil to be really good. It's got really good speed/acceleration balance, but drifting's kinda eh. Then again, I suck with drifting on bikes. xD

I usually just use Baby Peach, but I've found a good set up for Rosalina/Mid-weight class

Rosalina using Comet

Off-road Wheels

Cloud Glider (Same stats as parachute, parafoil, and flower gliders)

Pros:

Has about 65% speed

About 53% Acceleration

Great handling

Good weight

Traction does the job

I've not found a con in this build.

Oh dang, I should try that when I get all of the parts for it. I like my setup, but that sounds good too.

I'm currently collecting parts to build the Ultimate Time Trial Kart/Bike so I can at least get the Golden Tires as I dun really care for the glider or kart. I gotta beat every staff ghost in Time Trials to get them.

I've been working on the staff ghosts, some are tough. ._.

It kinda bothers me that all the parts and characters unlock at random. So I may have unlocked stuff you haven't yet, but we both could have collected the same amount of coins.

Yeah, it's weird. I mean, I like the surprise, but it's frustrating when you want a part but can never get it, when someone else you know does (My brother got the Steel Diver kart, which I think looks really cool, and I got the Teddy Buggy, which he wanted mostly just as a joke).

The Teddy Buggy actually has some pretty good stats. xD

Have you come up with a set for the Teddy Buggy?

Here it is!

Use a Heavyweight character.

Thanks to its Traction, the Handling isn't a problem! Just a heads up though: Start your drifts earlier with this one.

I tested it in a custom 3 race 150 cc  with no items to learn how it worked, then took the test online and left everyone in the dust.

Cool!

It'd be awesome if you could find more Combinations for us to use! :D

And to return the favor:

Cat (Juvenile) Bruiser

Use a lightweight character, possibly Feather, the lightest.

Cat Cruiser

Monster Wheels

And Super Glider Wario Wing, or anything with the same stats.

This thing is a BEAST.

For being lightweight, you gain a boost in Acceleration, and Handling. The Wheels and Cat Cruiser make it able to take Off-roading decently, and easy to turn. Don't be worried about it's speed. By then, you're probably boosting and drifting your way through with your Acceleration and Handling! Also, it's pretty heavy, too. Don't be able to push others around this set! The great handling and traction, as well as fairly resistant to being pushed is pretty much a Karter's dream. If you're too scared to drift, let your smooth handling take you through!

Tracks to test on

Wario Stadium

Sherbet Land

Shy Guy Falls

I honestly can't find a con in this set. It being a Kart also make it good for straightaways.

TIP: I haven't the time to test the full boost on other courses, but on Sherbet Land, it REALLY zooms up. HAVE FUN!

EDIT: This thing makes it easy for people to draft/slipstream behind you, and with your speed, even on straightaways, it's difficult to stay behind them, without pushing them to the side.

Feel free to test this set, and even report cons with it! I hope this is enough to repay you, Hero of Winds!
