TLOZ: My zelda linear and open world line.

Posted

I have made a line graph about the legend of zelda. It will show how linear and non linear a game is. The more further to the left it is the more linear the game is. If the game is more further to the right it is more opened. I didn't put all of the zelda games on it. If the picture is too blurry just tell me what you can't really see and I will explain it. post-49959-0-47859900-1404154277_thumb.jpg

The wind waker is in the middle of the line, Skyward Sword is the farthest game to the left, and zelda u is the farthest game to the right.

There's not enough known about Zelda U to make assumptions about it yet.

Excel is easy to use to make graphs like this and avoid awkward camera blur

Ps.  I like Excel.

I personally don't really like open world really.  I preferred the tradition of having to do something, to get an item to progress, rather than getting everything at the start and having to roam.  One of the things that put me off Wind Waker was the vastness of the place, cause while sure, "more to explore" and looks pretty, but I just think "Oh goody, shit ton of collectables hiding in that vast vast vast space".  I actually thought OoT was great since it did have a set order, but you could still do the dungeons in a different order if you wanted to give yourself a challenge, but with the set order you knew where you had to go to get what to do whatever

I agree. I don't really like open world zeldas because they don't really tell you what to do. One example is the first zelda. When you start playing the game you don't know where to go and you have to explore hyrule or look up a walkthough to progress though the game.
