Sora96 17,256 Posted July 3, 2014 The main issue is how buggy the PS1 ports of the old FF games are. I don't know if FFVI has any major problems, but FFV had a random save deleting glitch, and IV and Chrono Trigger both had horrible loading times. That would be Tose's fault then. But yeah, I'd never play them anyway since they're 50Hz.
Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted July 4, 2014 I think it greatly depends on the type of games you like, and the reasons why you like them. Each Final Fantasy is very unique, and some gamers tend to love some titles while simultaneously hating others. Personally, I would suggest that you play X first, since it's, I daresay, the most similar to Kingdom Hearts. My favorite of all time is Final Fantasy VI, but I'm also rather odd and prefer old school RPGs over newer ones. XIII is a controversial title, but I actually loved it. True, it was a little linear, perhaps too much so, but the story and characters were awesome, as were the visuals. I'd read reviews, check up on their storylines, and see what interests you in the price range you're looking for. Good luck, and welcome to the wonderful world of Final Fantasy! I think you'll find yourself really liking them. 1 mosokisa reacted to this
littleTSUBAME 483 Posted July 4, 2014 I started with FFXII, and I love it, but it's not for everyone. The world is gorgerous, but the characters are a bit lame and the story confusing. Might still be worth the try. But maybe FFX would be good (I still haven't finished it though so I'm not sure), or FFVII.
Gagify 7 Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) Probably X, but make sure you play FF VI at some point. If you thought you knew what hate is think again when you meet Kefka. Edited July 6, 2014 by Gagify
xxClouDxxmoon 901 Posted July 10, 2014 FFX would be a good place to start for you. Make sure you wait to play any of the XIII Trilogy until after you have played a few older titles just to make sure you understand what Final Fantasy really was before those games that honestly ruined the series for me.
