Should I try VGC or should I stick to Smogon?

Posted

I've been thinking lately to try and play in VGC rules after watching this year's National Championship and a couple of Poketuber playing in VGC rules but there are a couple of problems I'm facing

1It's been a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time since the last double battle I did in Black & white so I'm sure I'll get demolished

2My current team was made with Smogon rules in mind so it's gonna need a lot of changing to fit VGC

3LOTS OF MEGA KANGASKHANS So pretty much I have to bring a Ferrothorn

So I wanna ask some of you guys who played with VGC rules before, should I give it a try and if so what should I do to prepare myself

Double battles are pretty much a whole different metagame, but they're super fun. You might as well give it a try, though it's much faster paced compared to single battles and there's a lot of unique gimmicks (like I battled this guy that had a Trick Room team with Hyper Voice Sylveon that pretty much wrecked my ass lol). Moves you never use in singles like Helping Hand and Rage Powder are important, too. All you can really do is experiment for yourself and see what works.

Just try a lot of different teams and try to figure out what works. I first made a VGC team in HG and kept doing the battle tower to get better and I got to a decent team (that i sadly can't remember) but just practice and try new things and its really fun
