There is a lot of speculation about this topic, and I have a valid theory about it. Before I say it, lets point out the questions at hand.

1. Why would Kairi receive the exact same keyblade Aqua obtained from meeting her in BBS?

2. Why does Riku summon the Destiny Place?

Let me start off by stating my theory, which basically answers question 1, but is not true until proven true. Aqua's basic connection to Kairi. Aqua placed a spell on Kairi, so whenever she was caught in darkness, light would save her. Kairi received the Keyblade from Riku when they were surrounded by Heartless (darkness). The Keyblade is of the Realm of Light. Put one and one together and what do you get? Aqua's spell protecting Kairi by letting her receive her Keyblade, and leading her from darkness. This is my theory.

Now, let me clear up exactly why Riku summoned the Destiny Place. There is a general answer.

The general answer: Kairi is not an official Keyblade wielder. She had not had been given a Keyblade until now, thus wouldn't hold the power to summon one until given one. Riku is an official keyblade wielder, thus was the only person that was able to give her a Keyblade at that point in time.

Kairi should be a official keyblade weilder without being given one, She just didn't know it.

That's exactly the reason she wasn't able to summon a Keyblade, because she didn't know she could, plus she didn't have one to summon.

1. The reason why Kairi was able to hold the keyblade (destiny's place) was because

in birth by sleep when Kairi was younger she touched Aqua's keyblade and when she did the keyblade didn't dissapear. And the reason Aqua has the same exact keyblade (Destiny's place) because Kairi gave Aqua some flowers as thanks for saving her. Thus, obtaining the same keyblade Riku gave to Kairi.

2. Riku was able to summon Destiny's place was because he can dual weild just like Sora and Roxas can.

3. Remember, Kairi is a princess of heart. So that's another reason why she was able to use Destiny's place. Only people with a strong heart are able to weild the keyblade. Kairi has a pure and strong heart light in her heart due to her being a princess.

That's not a canon statement at all, that's just a theory.

and people with strong hearts can wield keyblades, they don't need hearts of light, i.e. Vanitas and Master Xehanort.

The reason Vanitas waa able to use a keyblade because he was a being of pure darkness. He was Ven's darkness that got extracted from master xehanorts's keyblade. Vanitas had a strong heart so he was abke to use the keyblade. But also because his keyblade was made from darkness itself.

That's exactly the point I was making, thanks for restating it.

this is where im confused how does xehanort hav a keyblade too?

...

Because he was a keyblade wielder maybe?

-_-

Hey, what happened to my freakishly long post a few months ago explaining all of this? <--(Rhetorical question)

Anyways...

There is a lot of speculation about this topic' date=' and I have a valid theory about it. Before I say it, lets point out the questions at hand.

1. Why would Kairi receive the exact same keyblade Aqua obtained from meeting her in BBS?[/quote']

Because it's not the same. Riku's Destiny's Embrace is to Aqua's Destiny's Embrace like Mickey's Star Seeker is to Sora's Star Seeker. They're different Keyblades, but take the same form based on the same memories, DE for Kairi (and also for Destiny Islands) and SS for Yen Sid.

The Destiny's Embrace Riku summoned does in no way belong to Aqua. We know that her Keyblade is locked away in the Chamber of Repose, of which Riku has no access to or even knows the existence of. In fact, as hilarious as it is, that Keyblade belongs to Apprentice Xehanort, whose heart Riku was harboring within him up until the explosion. To back up that statement, I have this interview excerpt:

...Because she is related to Aqua?

I seriously have no freaking way with Theories. Thats just me. I try anyway.

She isn't. At least, not in the way we consider a true "connection." We knew before BBS was released that one of the TAV trio isn't connected to one of the SRK trio. With Terra and Riku, and Ven and Sora having literal heart-to-heart connections, all that leaves is Aqua.

...I already posted here. Derp xD

The thing is..

Why would Xehanort be able to summon a Keyblade from the Realm of Light?

If anything, the Destiny Place Riku has could be someones random keyblade with a Paupu fruit attached to it. Because that's the keychain for that Keyblade. A Paupu fruit.

It's his Keyblade. His heart currently resides in the Realm of Light, within Riku, who was the one summoning it.

...No, that's even less likely. Not all Keychains are actually given to a person. Let's take Follow the Wind for example. It's keychain is one of the cursed medallions. Of course no one in their right mind would give that to Sora, and after seeing what happens to people who take it, he's not dumb enough to accept it.

Besides, the paopu fruit grows on Destiny Islands, Riku's home. In the novels, it states that that Keyblade, in that form, appeared when he was thinking of the islands. Since nothing in the game contradicts it, it's pretty much true.

This pretty much wraps this thread up. Aqua performed the Right of Passage on Kairi. After this scene, Aqua obtains the Destiny Place. Yeah...

No, you're still misunderstanding it. See, the Rite of Succession, asides from granting one the wielding ability, is really just a letter of recommendation towards the successor receiving a Keyblade of his/her own.

And as I've been explaining throughout this thread, THE DESTINY'S EMBRACE THAT RIKU SUMMONED DOES NOT BELONG TO EITHER AQUA OR KAIRI. IT'S APPRENTICE XEHANORT'S. D:<
