It was a bright and beautiful day in the somewhat desolate town known as Fableland. Princess Anna of Arendelle, otherwise just known as Anna, was currently sitting in her lovely little shop in a small corner of the main street, waiting for new customers. Because she sold ribbons she hardly got any male customers however she remained cheerful and excited. She fumbled with her green summer dress. It was extremely hot that day. Even hotter than the summers she'd spend back home. She could use some ice right now. Maybe she should have just went into the ice business like Kristoff did. "Another day, another dollar." She chimed to herself.

Little Red took Anna's hand. 

As they were walking towards Anna's house, Little Red remembered something. 

"Anna? What are you going to do about Benjamin's injury?" she asked. 

They stopped walking and Little Red took Benjamin's arm carefully to see the burns. 

"It's looks pretty bad, right? We should do something about it."

Zuri rested on a chair of the morgue. As much as he had persisted,they wouldn't allow him to get near the body until an autopsy had been done. He had his head resting in his hands as he remained silent. Inside the morgue the Undertaker was none other than the infamous Blue Beard,or just Blue as he would like to be called in the human world. He had shaved his beard since moving,making look younger (maybe around the age of 25),and came here hoping to start a new life and put away his past and his dead wives which he had killed. He was a nice guy now,rather shy and reserved,but being a good citizen the most. "Yo Blue what's up?"Sake whispered as she sneaked in through the morgue window. "I'm doing go-WHA!"Blue yelped as he almost dropped the scalpel. "You shouldn't be in here! I locked the damn window too!"Blue stammered. "I couldn't help it. I needed to see Alice. We just had tea the other day."Sake said with a sincere tone. "You need to get out of here the same way you came. You can't be in here while I'm doing the autopsy."Blue said as he wrote down notes about the body. "Alice...she can't be dead. Who could've done this?"Sake asked. "I'm just checking for evidence,the rest is up to the police. By the way Bigby's coming in sooner or later so get out."Blue said. "What?! But I want to stay and hear."Sake whispered. "Then you find a hiding spot and if he finds you I'm going to act surprised."Blue said as Sake gave thumbs up as she crawled into one of the cabinets and closed the doors. "I'll be like a candle in the wind."Sake muttered,to which Blue sighed. "Zuri,I'm so sorry about your loss...after this report I'm sorry to say you have lost much than just a wife."

Peter unlocked the door to Rafael's small apartment and went in. He has stayed with the cat before and knew where the extra blankets were. He spread then out on the couch and settled down staring at the ceiling. He wondered how everyone would take a mundy knowing their secret. What if the kid did tell on them? Would anyone even believe him? Peter sure knew about that problem. He sighed and closed his eyes nodding off to sleep.

 

Raf crouched down close to the branch to watch Coyote making sure other animals or hunters were around to cause trouble. In the distance he saw a flicker of orange. 'Hunter.' He immediately thought and scampered off through the trees to investigate. Although Rafael always kept an eye out, hunters were extremely rare so close to fabletown. When he got closer he slowed down so not to make any noises.

Bigby entered the morgue, he'd taken the evidence he'd found and locked it up in a safe place at the Fabletown Police Precinct. He carried the key in his pocket.

 

He saw Zuri holding his head in his hands, and cleared his throat. "Um....Zuri...I'm gonna need a statement soon." He walked back to the autopsy room and closed the door behind him. He spotted Blue working on the body, and nodded. "Blue...I need to see her and see what you've got so far."

Zuri watched as Bigby walked inside the autopsy room and rested his head back down. Blue cleared his throat. "If you insist."Blue said as he flipped the white sheet from Alice's body. She was stiff and her eyes wide open. "All stab wounds were before death. The killer one stabbed her right in the heart. She died after bleeding out within a matter of five to ten minutes. According to the temperature and smell of the body."Blue said,sniffing a bit. "She has been dead for a few hours,not including the hour that it took for the call and for her to be transferred here."Blue said as he looked around his notes. "Cause of death was loss of blood and obvious puncture wound to the heart. I can't tell what kind of weapon it was though. It was pointy but at the same time circular,the only thing I can even come close to suspect is a drill of some sort of something."Blue said as he looked down at his notes. "However examining more there seems to be something that maybe not even Zuri could've known about."Blue said as a sad expression came to his face. "It appears that Alice was pregnant. How long? I estimate around 14 weeks,more or less."Blue said as he reached the stomach area which he had already sewed up. "The child had already started to develop its face and arms,it died of lack of oxygen just minutes after its mother. Once Zuri finds out I fear we may have to put him on suicidal watch."Blue sighed. "One additional thing I could gather was that she didn't had time to fight back,so I expect that the attack was a surprise,and most likely from someone she already knew."Blue said as he reached for a bag on the opposite counter. "I did find something for you inside her...ahem,feminine parts. It was odd to say the least."Blue said as he picked up the bag and showed it to Bigby. Inside the bag was a pair of bloody scissors recovered from the body.

Bigby sighed when he heard about the baby, and frowned when he heard about how Blue was concerned about Zuri's reaction to this. He lit up a cigarette and took a puff of the smelly Huff n' Puff.

 

He lowered his voice...to a whisper.

 

"Maybe...but...we can't rule anyone out in these things. You'd be interested to know what I found during my investigation of the home. Shoeprints leading to the window....a whole set....one after the other...away from the blood...as if carefully placed there. Went to the window, but strange thing about it is that...the window only opens from the inside....no sign of forced entry. So we're both on the same track of it being someone she knew. The scissors aren't the murder weapon....I think....hate to get into detail...but someone obviously knew she was pregnant.....you don't go fourteen weeks being preggers and not tell anyone. We're looking at someone who will be charged with double homocide here....for both Alice and her unborn baby.....if I have anything to say about it anyway."

Blue looked down at the body as he quickly covered it. "First time mothers don't show baby bumps until around 16 weeks of pregnancy. If someone did knew I don't see why they would aim for her and the child. As far as I know none of them have done anything wrong. I would suggest about the Cheshire cat or maybe even the Red Queen but I have no idea where those nutjobs are,not here in Fable town as far as I know."Blue said as he got his hands together in thought. "If the killer is someone she knew it could be half the town for all we know. Alice was so kind,she made friends with pretty much anyone. So she must've invited the killer inside the house not knowing on what she was getting herself into. If the traces let to the window maybe it was possible that the killer used the windows as a mean of escape,to avoid drawing attention from the main entrance?"Blue asked as he groaned and sat back down on his chair. "You have a lot of clues to put together,and a lot of people to question. Anyone she knew,even I could be a suspect. Sake and I just had tea with her last week,it all seems unreal that she's dead..."Blue muttered as he glanced at the ceiling. "Unless it was a Mundi..."He muttered,sitting straight up again. "Regardless. If you think that we might not need the body anymore,you might want to sign the papers so you can give Zuri permission for a funeral."Blue said as he stretched. Inside the cabinet Sake couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"Not yet....not until I question him. I...found something in the house....other than what I told you....It was a pair of burned shoes....had been tossed into the fireplace. What kind of killer leaves evidence behind on purpose? Must've felt awfully comfortable there.....strange for someone leaving the scene of a crime. And I'm going to have to ask you not to tell him she was pregnant.....just yet." Bigby stepped out of the autopsy room and approached Zuri outside. "Gonna have to question you down at the precinct, Zuri...standard procedure...can't rule anyone out." 

Zuri looked up sadly at Bigby. "...O...of course."zuri muttered as he stood up and followed Bigby. "You saw Alice in there too right?"Zuri asked,his eyes were full of desperation. "...is she really gone...?"Zuri asked whispering. It was as he still didn't want to believe that she was dead. Meanwhile inside the morgue Blue kicked the cabinet,having Sake fall out from it with a loud oof. "Had your fill?"Blue asked. "You have to be f*cking kidding me,whoever did this is totally trying to frame me!"Sake whispered,so Bigby wouldn't hear outside. "Why would you say that?"Blue asked. "You blind?! The scissors?! Whoever did this is totally trying to blame me!"Sake insisted. "You sound pretty nervous for someone who hasn't even been named as a suspect by Bigby just yet. Sake hissed. "I'm just very paranoid as it is...those are my scissors,how the hell did the killer get their hands on it without me knowing?! The only way it could've gotten it is if it sneaked into my room while I slept!"Sake whispered as she was obviously freaked out about the scissors. "Calm down,you're going to be fine. Bigby's on the case,he's going to find the killer. So you don't have to worry about it...Bigby won't let whoever did this get away with murder."Blue assured as he glanced down at the table. "...she didn't tell me she was pregnant."Sake whispered. "She didn't tell me either."

Anna sighed softly and looked to Benjamin burns. "I don't know... I don't have have magic to help him. Because these are Maleficent's burns they probably have magic in them... that's probably why it's spreading. We'll have to go back to Maleficent and see what she can do."Benjamin shrugged. He didn't seem to like Maleficent too much. He wrote down in his pad. 'Okay... call me Ben. If we go can she come with us?' he pointed to Little Red.Anna chuckled. "Little Red, I think he likes you. He wants to know if you can come with us if we go back to Maleficent... we kinda left her back at the field."Nearby the deer made a loud yelp as Coyote went in for the kill. Bit it right in the neck, and killed it. He wasn't paying attention to the Hunter approaching. "..."

'Too late to warn him." Rafael thought as he jumped off of his branch landing on the hunters head and scratched at his face. The hunter screamed in pain and grabbed the tabby that was attacking him throwing it on the ground shooting his rifle near it before taking off at a run. Probably back to his truck or whatever he used to get there. Rafael turned back into a human and groaned his pain. The shot from the rifle and lodged itself in his shoulder. A very large string of curses followed at his failed attempt at digging out the bullet.

Little Red blushed. "Uh, sure. I'll go with you, Ben!" she said. 

"And if Maleficent stayed behind, she probably already left. The burns don't seem to spread fast but..." 

She turned to Ben. Little Red knew he understood her lip's movement.... "Ben, do want to go to Maleficent? Or, wait until tomorrow... it's your choice, really." 

Ben shrugged. To be honest, he was very tired despite the pain in his arms. He just wanted to sit down somewhere, or possibly lay down. He didn't want to think about his mother's death, or anything else for that matter. He just wanted to be with his new possible friends. 'I don't know.' he wrote down in his book. 'I guess I'll wait until tomorrow.'Anna nodded, feeling bad for the boy. "Alright. I'll just drop her a text to see if she could stop by today or tomorrow to fix your arms." She took out her phone, and plopped Maleficent a text message. 'Hey, Maleficent, can you drop by my house when you can? The burns on Ben's arms are spreading, and you're the only one who can heal him right now.'Ben looked over to Little Red. 'You're a fairy tale too? I'm going to guess Little Red Riding Hood since you're wearing red and all. Is that your name?'Coyote's eyes widened. He instantly ran over to Rafael still in his coyote form. He looked around for the hunter, trying to smell where he went. "Where is he?!" he asked with a loud roar. "I'll kill that bastard!" he seethed, the blood from the deer dripping down his teeth. His anger raged, all fueled by his injured friend.

Raf hit Coyote over the head with the fist of his good arm. "Shut up and help me would ya?" He said angrily getting to his feet. He staggered slightly as a wave of pain came over him. "I have the stuff I need for this at my place." He grabbed Coyote by his scruff dragging him along so that he wouldn't go after the hunter. Knowing Coyote and how brainless he was, he would by in a mundy police station before anyone could say moron. He let his arm hang limply not wanting to agitate his wounded shoulder.

Coyote let out  loud growl and began to squirm in Rafael's grasp. He was extremely, extremely pissed off. "NO! LET ME GO! I WANT TO RIP HIM APART!" he barked and growled, even yelped a few times. Despite being a large coyote, he couldn't get out of Rafael's hold. What made him even more upset was the fact that he could smell the hunter too. Right nearby. He wanted to attack the hunter before he left in his truck. "I'LL HELP YA BUT I NEED TO BEAT THE 'ELL OUT OF HIM FIRST!"

The night's insanity was touched upon by yet another. The loud roar of a 1968 Mustang Fastback filled the air. From the road into town came the car, as if Steve McQueen himself was on the way. The iconic Bullitt Mustang slid into town, and weaved through traffic in the most law abiding way. The license plate would be clear to the cops.

M3M0RY.

As it approached the precinct, the whine lessened as gears were shifted. Sliding into a parking spot out front, the car idled for a moment as the occupant worked on something. As the engine was cut, the door opened, and out stepped a girl with short-black hair and amazing cerulean blue eyes. Sunglasses jauntly perched on her head (she had started driving during the daytime, before having to divert to the town) and she moved to the sidewalk before adjusting her shoes. Smoothing out her jean shorts and white-button down shirt, she messed with the cuffs, rolling the sleeves back a bit, before entering. Heading to the front desk, she slid her credentials forward, a Concealed Weapon License the first thing she showed.

"I'm packing." She slowly took it out handle first, and unloaded it. Setting it down, she waited as the officer cleared her."Alright." Allowing her to re-holster her weapon, the girl was led to a waiting area, and a message was left for the Sheriff.

 

Xion had come around again.

"That's right!" said Little Red. "I'm Little Red Ridding Hood. They call Little Red or just Red. BUT you," she said to Ben, "You can call me Red."

"And if you are tired, then lets wait until tomorrow. Right now, it's not safe to be outside anymore." said Little Red. "So, lets head to Anna's house, okay?" she said. 

Bigby entered the Fabletown Police precinct, escorting Zuri to the interrogation room. He had spotted the Mustang outside, and went up to the front desk. "Xion's here?" Bigby asked.

 

The officer nodded and pointed to the waiting room, Bigby entered it, and saw Xion...but not Kayle. Bigby smiled grimly. "Hello Xion."

Ben nodded. 'Red.' he mouthed. Anna chuckled and led the two children down the street to her home. She heard about all the commotion earlier but she was just going to learn about it later. That was enough commotion for one night. Anna hummed to herself. "I wonder why Benjamin doesn't talk... deaf people can talk." she mused.

Benjamin was looking straight ahead, and over to Little Red from time to time so he didn't know Anna said anything.

Rafael growled, "And get yourself killed? Yeah sounds like an awesome plan." He managed to drag Coyote out of the forest grumbling about how it should be Coyote dragging him and not the other way around. He walked up to his apartment and knocked on the door hoping Peter went in already. Peter sat up groggily and looked at the door. "Peter its me Rafael, let me in!" Came a muffled yell from outside. Peter scrambled off of the couch and opened the door, "What happened?" Raf ignored him, "Go grab the black bag from on my wardrobe in my room." Peter nodded and ran off.

Little Red noticed Ben was looking straight ahead, and then to her. She chuckled. "Hey, stop, you might hurt your neck." she said nicely. Ben understood her. 

Before they knew it, they had already arrived to Anna's house. 

Anna opened the door and Little Red went in and sat on the couch. She had already been to Anna's house before, so it kinda felt like home.

Ben sat with her and they both watched Anna get some pillows and quilts for the two kids. 

"NO RAF! HE HURT YOU SO I'M GONNA HURT HIM!" he growled and squirm some more, getting extremely aggravated because Rafael wouldn't let him go, or at least let him go so he could turn human. "RAF LET ME NO RIGHT NOW DAMMIT!" he was making a scene. Even some of the Fables walking by cast looks, wishing the stupid coyote to shut up. Once they got inside, Coyote howled at Peter. "This guy got shot in the shoulder and he's not gonna let me go beat the guy up!"

 

Ben nodded, feeling rather alarmed and even reached back to rub his neck. Once he sat on the couch, Ben looked around. 'The house is nice...' he signed to himself. He took out his cellphone really quick to text to his father that he was at his friend's house and that he was going to stay over. He didn't really expect him to read the text message anytime soon, or to bother to call so he could talk to this 'parent of his friend.' he sighed softly to himself. The father was probably going to look for his deceased mother for months. Ben knew he couldn't tell him that he found his mother or that she was dead. That would risk revealing the secret of the Fables.

Anna smiled as she took out the red pillows and quilts she always took out. She also grabbed light blue pillows and quilts for Ben, figuring he'd like that color. She began to set up little beds on the floor infront of them, even setting one for herself infront of the coffee table with green pillows and blankets. "Hmmm... We could make some smores and watch a movie later. I have board games too we could play." she rubbed the back of her head. She was fine with Little Red staying over, as she thought of Red as her little sister. She stood over all the time, and her Grandma knew Anna very well. Now with Ben, he was a little mundy boy, who was also a stranger. She didn't want to look like a child abductor or creep or anything. "Make yourselves at home!"

Little Red looked over Ben as he was sending a text to his dad. She sat on the little beds Anna made for them.

 

"A movie?" she thought. "But, isn't he deaf?" she whispered. "Maybe a board game would be better." she said, as if worrying over Ben.

"Worrying?" she thought. She shook her head. "I mean, we could watch a movie, if that's fine with Ben." she looked over to him and tried to mouth it out. 

He looked like he did understood what she meant. She then laid down and waited to see what they we going to choose. 

Although she was tired, she tried to stay awake with them as much as needed.

Xion stood.

"Sheriff Wolf." She said politely. "Alice was murdered. This kind of thing is beyond atrocious. So, I got sent." She paused. "Judgement finds this to be a horrible one." With a pause, Xion adjusted the sunglasses on her head. "So. Gonna let Judgement work with ya, or am I going to have to start pulling rank and all?" she asked. Arms crossed, Xion stared Bigby down without pause.

Xion stood.

"Sheriff Wolf." She said politely. "Alice was murdered. This kind of thing is beyond atrocious. So, I got sent." She paused. "Judgement finds this to be a horrible one." With a pause, Xion adjusted the sunglasses on her head. "So. Gonna let Judgement work with ya, or am I going to have to start pulling rank and all?" she asked. Bigby smirked and lit a Huff n' Puff before answering. "No need for that, be glad to have your help. Also there was a mundy killed VERY close to Fabletown's borders....I had Maleficent dispose of the body with her flames so as not to attract the Mundy cops. But there is a slight problem....her son...who is deaf and can only communicate with a chalkboard or writing or signing, was injured with the flames...because he was snooping around near the body. He's with Anna and Red right now....they're uh...keeping him busy or babysitting him whatever ya wanna call it." Bigby took a puff on the cig.

 

"Anyway, from what I found before we burned the corpse of the mundy woman...it appears to me that someone is trying to make it look like I Was the one who killed her. Even left a pack of Huff n Puffs near the body....as if I'm that stupid. Anyway back on this case...the window was only openable from the inside, yet I found bloody footprints leading to it....she was stabbed seven times with a circular object..like a drill. For all intents and purposes she appears to have known her killer....and she was pregnant....and we found...Sake's scissors inside her..uh...female parts...like someone was trying to...either do a messy job of aborting the baby or was just a sicko. Blue said she wouldn't have shown her baby bump yet, so she had to have told someone...and she would've definitely told Zuri....who waited quite awhile...to call the police."

 

"I also found that someone had tossed a pair of shoes into the fire, the murder weapon is missing...so either he took it with him or disposed of it...some other way. I've got Zuri in the interrogation room, autopsy report along with the evidence we got is in the case file...want me to get it?
