So I've just finished one of 2014's anime that got released early this year......Pupa

a 12 episodes anime each episode being 4 minutes long

And I'm gonna blatant and upfront with this review

F****....THIS......ANIME!!!!!

This is without a doubt the worst anime of 2014 and one of the worst animes I've ever seen in my life......PERIOD

The story is ALL OVER THE PLACE,nothing makes sense,plot points suddenly appear and never gets resolved by the end,retcons and inconsistencies up the ass

the characters,Yumi and her brother who I didn't give enough shits about him to remember his name or his sister,are so bland,forgettable and borderline stupid

Example,there is that one episode where a random guy,whom they never EVER explained why he's here btw,comes and tells them to come to a secluded building so he can torture the brother in front of his sister,and despite them having these demonic powers,the sister being a monster and the brother regenerating his wounds,they just.,.....took it,they could've literally killed the guy right on the spot but instead they just.....took it

And the animations......My god the animations are absolute SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!

They're so lazy,stillted and generic and sometimes aside from the characters nothing really animates,it's just one of those lazy animations that you see in some lazy animes or some indie games where they pretend to be artsy so that they won't have to spend money on actually animating stuff

the music is generic and bland,nothing will stick in your head not even for a minute

and before I end this review,I wanna talk about the relationship between the sister and the brother

Which can be summarized by one word :CREEEEEEEPY

There is an entire episode.....AN ENTIRE EPISODE where it's just the sister eating the brother....he lays down on bed and she eats his flesh off slowly as if he's a Shesh Kabab while saying "Oni chan....oni chan....oni chan" over and over again

And as much as I despise and get disgusted by Incest.....I wish they would've just been making out instead of seeing this creepy awkward scene

And for a horror anime,this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too short

as I've mentioned it's just 12 episodes,each are 4 minutes long with random plot points being thrown and forgotten immediately or gets retconned in the next episode,NOTHING is explained and for a horror anime,this was firetrucking laughable thanks to the shitty animations and shitty blood graphics.

I swear throughout the entire anime I had NO IDEA WTF is going on..I barely understood anything in this story and I'd rather not

This anime is the worst anime I've seen this year and one of the worst animes I've ever seen in my life

Awful writing,bland and generic music,shitty animations and characters that has NO redeeming qualities whatsoever

This anime deserves nothing more than a ZERO OUT OF TEN

Yess....it is that bad

The only.....ONLY thing I'd give this anime is that at least it has the decency to be short,unlike pieces of shit like Green Green and Ikki Tousens that goes on forever and never ends....but that isn't an excuse for it to be absolute shit

I wasted an hour of my life watching this piece of shit when I could've continued watching the amazing anime Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka(Is this a Zombie) or even any other anime heck I'd rather watch Corpse Party's OVA and play it's video game IN A LOOP for five hours rather than subjecting myself to Pupa ever again

Don't watch it,for the love of God don't watch it

Not even if it peeked your curiousity or if you want to see how bad it is....just DON'T WATCH IT

And the worst part is:IT'S FROM THE SAME STUDIO THAT MADE HIGURASHI:WHEN THEY CRY AND KORE WA ZOMBIE DESU KA! it's.......uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Well I'm done ranting for now,but hopefully the next anime review will be for a much better anime

Meanwhile, I would suggest that you should read Tokyo Ghoul or watch the anime in case you wanna make up that lost time for watching Pupa. Tokyo Ghoul will screw you over between two sides of coin. (Although you probably get pissed at the anime due to some censorship which will be fixed when the bluray comes out in late Fall.)

Either watch Another or play Corpse Party(there is an OVA series for it but play the game....) it's absolutely terrifying

Duuuude the scene is even more awkward if you watched it

 

 

Just don't even bother with this anime...heck don't even watch a scene in it

 

It's the absolute definition of shit
