I could use some help/advice!

Posted

Well hi! So after a long ass time of searching I got my first actual job (woohoo!) problem is, i'm a punkass bitch baby who easily gets nervous (anxiety, and I can be very sensitive). I just want to be able to do my job confidently without being too nervous and anxious. Who doesn't want that, right? I know it's not a big huge super deal but It's a job at a sermarket, bagging groceries - they said eventually I can work the cashier if I want to. For now I'm just going to stick with bagging until I relax and chill out, and get more comfortable working there.

*phew*

well...

As I said, it really shouldn't be that bad, but I'm still stressing out. I know I'm just a big baby and need to man u

but I can't help but feel stressed so...I'm just asking two things. One, what can I do to keep myself calm and from getting anxious at work? No, I don't do drugs so please don't tell me to do weed or anything xD

And also, has anyone had a job at a grocery store before? Can you tell me what it's like? Everyone at the one I'm gonna work at is so nice, but I fear for angry customers x.x

So..yeah. Im so HAPPY and EXCITED i got the job, but I'm still nervous and axious for it, too ||D

Well, since you'll be bagging groceries, I don't see a reason to be too nervous.

Smile, bag the stuff properly, be careful not to mix different customer's groceries and you should be fine.

IF you do something wrong, apologize immediatly and fix your mistake. It isn't a big deal, really.

the number of people who'll understand is far greater than the number of jerks who'll get andry at petty stuff.

*About who not to be nervous, it can't be helped. You'll get used to it and the axiety will go away with time.

With anxiety, just take a deep breath and cool down for a bit. As an anxious person that happens to me a lot and sadly, it's quite hard to control. Try thinking what exactly makes you anxious, are you afraid of messing up or is it something else? Knowing the reason might help controlling it, because then you can convince yourself that there's nothing to be afraid of.

Well, that's what works for me, your anxiety might be different. :/

Anyway, good luck with your new job :)

As I said, I'm aware that it's not a big deal, I just can't help but being nervous e_e Like even though I know people do stuff that's 100x more stressful, I literally just can't help it.

That's...sounds like a pretty good idea, really o.o If I just think about it and settle down that could help. Yeah I'm just worried that I'll mess up and make someone angry. I'm very klutzy. Thank you, I'll try do give it a shot. I just wish my body would stop shaking, being lightheaded, and twisting my tummy!

Hi current cashier here. Trust me I was shaking the first time I started working. It is all about getting used to the environment and finding your own little groove. My advice is simply just remember people don't usually get fired they quit in these positions.

When I get stressed I usually listen to music, though I'm sure you won't always be able to do that on the job, so I'd suggest you just think of something that makes you happy, be it a memory, or someone you know. I wouldn't worry too much about it though, I'm sure you'll do great.

I have no advice with helping anxiety, because i cant control mine . though it doesnt help i usually hum a song, and make sure im not acting nervous, because if i put on the act..it helps me ? i guess?..idk lol

However best of luck to you in the job!

Id say youll do just fine because as long as youre paying attention not much can go wrong, and you dont have to talk to anyone either except maybe a "thanks for shopping here" or something.
