I don't care that he never became Hokage. I don't care that he went down the wrong path at one point. I consider Obito to be one of the greatest heroes of the Hidden Leaf Village, along with Jiraiya and Itachi. I don't care what anyone says about that. Rest in peace, Obito... At least you're with Rin now...

Haven't done a review in a while (Cause of college, but I'm free now), but I probably should get to it.

 

Naruto Chapter 687

 

 

Well some of us saw it coming, and some of us felt like it was rushed, but Obito has finally. . . Died.

 

The chapter is mostly Obito's process of dying and parting final words to Naruto (and in his head to Kakashi). He wanted Team 7 to focus on the situation, and Kakashi to stay with the new generation to guide and support them throughout their ordeal and future. Naruto attempts to heal him, but Obito tells him not to waste his chakra. Then Mr. Black Zetsu begins to trash talk him down, stating that even if he lived, he would be hated by allies and enemies, no one will feel sad for him, he lost his loved ones, was used, and failed. Obito states that his death fits him.

 

Sasuke's eye's power comes back and attempts to attack Kaguya, but she successfully switches back to the core dimension with intentions of quick restoration of chakra. Sasuke activates Full Susanno'o and acts as a decoy. Meanwhile, Obito thanks Naruto for having him open his eyes. He also states that when he imagined what would've happened with him being Hokage and being surrounded by his village, it filled the hole in his heart. He flashbacks to listening to Rin state that she is watching over him. Obito warns him that he will suffer again, but as long as he focuses on his Nindo, nothing will change Naruto, and we get a full blown page of Obito crumbling away, telling Naruto to become Hokage at all costs. From Skin to Bone, Ashes to Ashes, and Dust to Dust, Obito dies, leaving Team 7 to fend off Kaguya.

 

BZ was glad to see that Obito has finally died, and continues to badmouth him, but strangely, Naruto states that Obito was the coolest guy he ever met, and with that in mind, and anger rising up, Naruto flashes to Kaguya with a speed that could possibly rival Sasuke, and F*CKING RIPS KAGUYA'S ARM OFF!!!!!!! The arm containing Black Zetsu as well! GUESS WHAT BITCH!? YOU JUST F*CKED WITH THE WRONG MOTHAF*CKA!!!!

 

Meanwhile, we get a scene in the afterlife where Obito in his teen form meets Rin once again. She claims that she was waiting for him, and knows that he had lost his way. Obito states that a lot of things happened during his way, and couldn't keep his promise. Rin states that it was okay, and that she continued to watch over him until the end. Grabbing Obito's hand, they begin to head to whatever the afterlife has in store for the two.

 

Dang it. Feels. . . It's gonna take a while for me and a few others to recover from this chapter. I don't know how to deal with this when the anime catches up to the chapter, but I'm glad that Naruto went rage mode and ripped off Kaguya's arm that houses Black Zetsu. I want to see what will happen next week. What do you gais think will happen in the next chapter? I think it would consist of Kaguya and BZ reacting to the attack, and then the Kages will show up. Honestly, I want to see more Background story to Kaguya. Something tells me that Black Zetsu is manipulating her. I want to see this first before she becomes sealed again, or killed off

 

 

Don't forget gais, on Thursday we will get a 15 second trailer of "The Last" and then Friday, a full blown trailer of the movie as well. Hopefully the trailers show the rest of the characters and establishes some sort of plot.

 

Also, there will be no episode breaks in August, so rest assure because there will be a new Shippuden episode every week on August and first 3 weeks of September.

It is confirmed that there will be NO CHAPTER on August 13th due to Obon Holiday in Japan, so If you are expecting a WSJ chapter on August 13th, you gonna have to wait another week.

The movie is supposed to be the "opening" to the new era project. That would imply there is more to come afterwards. It is possible they could have a Part 3, but I personally think that would be dragging out the story considering everything that's gone on lately. But I suppose Kishimoto could surprise me.

The way I see it, this is Kishimoto's way of giving us a Part III without continuing the original manga, because he's expressed in the past that he would more interested in making a new manga centered on Minato's past. The New Era project will probably expand about what happens post-Fourth War and cover a few important events after that point in the story and then we'll be done with it, possibly ending with a final battle between Naruto and Sasuke because that seems most fitting.
