I just think that most of part 2 was unnecessary. Sai wasn't even important in the grand scheme of things yet shippuden focused a lot on him.

No they're not. 11 canon arcs > 8 filler arcs. And besides, most of the filler does a good job on expanding the story as well as characters, plot elements, etc.

Filler can do a good job on making expansions in canon and exploring things that were never touched on in the manga i.e. Twelve Ninja Guardian Arc - expanded Naruto's training + Asuma's past, Three Tails Arc - expanded the roles of the Leaf finding the Tailed Beasts before the Akatsuki, Tsugumo Kinjutsu Arc - expanded on Ukataka, the Seven Tails Jinchuriki's character, the list goes on.

The way things went it seemed to me like Obito wanted to die. He didn't have a lot of chakra left either, so I'd assume he couldn't teleport it very far. But I kinda wondered that myself as well.

I would have to agree with this. Almost half the show is filler and imo the fillers arent very good.

Just because of all the filler talk, I'm going to say this: There's nothing saying you have to watch the filler. I'm still watching the Shippuden anime, and I've already skipped filler arcs, and plan on skipping more. Instead of complaining about filler, you can just choose to not watch it. It's that simple. Also, they confirmed that they're done with filler.

You're right about Obito wanting to die. However, he didn't Kamui anything into himself. He let himself take the rod while at the same time Kamui-ing the rod that was heading for Kakashi.
