I did however find the supposed 72hr boss fight. After seeing its level, I ran away.

It can be killed in 17 minutes with the proper set up

I guess it's not spoilers to say. If you love doing side quests put off going to Altissa for as long as possible. After you do that you won't get the chance to do side quests for a long while

Oh yeah, I read the game gets linear for a little while after a certain chapter.
