Below are listed several traits of an original character that I have made up

I need you to please post your opinions of this person

 

01) Complete or partial Oblivious to the rules of society

02) Temperamental and becomes verbally and physically violent when provoked

03) Disregard for the formalities when addressing other people who are more senior or of more status - socially inept to an extent

04) Lazy (I.e. does not make own breakfast or meals, does not clean room/dishes - always reliant on others and insists other do it, but always eating)

05) Heavy gamer, wakes up and games all day till late at night

06) Always wanting to borrow money, but then uses it for trivial or pointless reasons (i.e. wasteful)

07) This person always believes that their own opinion is right, and always seeks to challenge the opinion of others who differ in opinion

08) Inability to accept criticism or instil change/reflect in self to promote self development (Ignorance??)

09) Is a young adult (i.e. aged between say 18-25?)

10) Has a vivid imagination, but fails to realize most ideas are not applicable to current society

11) Loves to guilt trip people

12) Thinks that the term "YOLO' is all there is to life (i.e. A total disregard for the consequences arising from his/her actions, Either pathological or psychological in origin, and this behavior is fueled positively by peers)

13) Cognition and Intelligence: Generally disorganised, poor memory, and was rejected from University

 

I hope I didn't offend anyone as its shouldn't be based on anyone (at least I hope not), and I really hope that this character hasn't been used in another TV series or anime...etc.

 

Its meant to be one of those protagonists that may not associate well with the audience, so I wanted to make this person as dislikeable as possible.

 

I just wanted people do let me know how they would associate with this sort of person....

I think you did a good job making a unlikeable character. Interesting that you're making such a person a/the protagonist, but also pretty original (most don't go for an unlikeable protag, in my experience).

 

Incidentally, reading that list I felt like you were describing the general population of GameFAQs. Seriously.

If you wanted to make an unlikeable character, you certainly succeeded. Now you gotta figure out why your audience would want to read about/watch such a prick.

 

It might help if I saw this character in action in the context of an actual plot. This is clearly someone you're meant to hate. I can only assume the stories would revolve around how much the world punishes him for his screw-ups, or at least I hope so. Otherwise, you pretty much rattled off a checklist of why audiences shouldn't bother watching what this character does -- unless he's 1) really funny about it, and 2) gets what's coming to him in the end. Eric Cartman from South Park is a good example of this kind of character, but that's South Park. Unless you can pull something like that off, it'll be very easy to piss off your audience.

Haha, I was being half sarcastic. The point is that you can be all or most of those things without actually being a horrible person. I would say the violent temperament characteristic is an outlier; most of these things you have described do not usually fit a violent person, barring perhaps some kind of substance.
