A crisp morning, that December was. A cold, average day. quiet, at least until twelve PM. That, of course, was the opening hour of Mainstreed, the Questboards, and the Cherrywood Bar and Wood fire Pizza restaurant, a well-known hang out spot of a specific low-grade monster-bashing team, as well as where we find said team blacked out, on the floor, like usual.

 

NeverBetter awoke with a grunt, coughing up a ball of hair, he tried to recall last night's events. "That's the last time I let Yuffie get my drinks... I think I bit a chunk out of Silver's hair again..." He sighed picking himself up off the ground, he looked around at the rest of his drunken and sleeping team.

 

"All of you, get up, please!" NeverBetter called to his teammates.

Alright then, grab your gear, off to the Woods! We're going Into the woods!" Neverbetter yelled. "Actually, you lot, go stock up on food real quick, all of you except Yuffie. I need to talk with our second-in-command." He ordered. "Meet me out by Torm's Clearing, you lot know, just down the road from the bar, once your done."

Nortanort hung around for a few minutes, to say, "You know, I have more than enough muffins. But I'll leave you two to talk, at least one of you needs it. I can assure you of this," as he tossed them both muffins. He felt deep down in his heart that they needed muffins. Everyone needs muffins, true, but those two needed muffins more than anyone else.

 

He slowly made his way to Tom's Clearing, muffins in his pockets, whilst whistling a little tune under his breath. He felt oddly at peace with the world. Maybe it was his muffins, or maybe it wasn't. All he knew was, he was happy. And he loved it. He felt bad times were approaching him, so he resolved to keep a happy heart no matter what. 

Axel nodded. "Got it, leader. We'll see ya soon." He began to head towards the exit, and made his way to a food shop. He wasn't quite sure of what to get, considering they'd all be heading far away and he needed something he could actually carry. He decided to just browse the store, and thought carefully about what food to get.

Silver nodded to Riki, with a small grin, "And what does that make me, Third in command?" His smile disappeared as he casually walked right beside Riki, and without missing a beat he whispered in the other's ear: "Something seems a down about her. If something's wrong, I'd like to know, if at all possible."

He nodded to Riki, and then simply kept walking until he returned to Neko.

NeverBetter nodded back to him: what kind of leader didn't notice someone not doing well? A bad one, that is for sure. Although that wasn't his only reasoning. Once everyone left, he looked and Yuffie. "I'll be honest, I don't know if half this team will make it out alive, but we need the money or we won't be able to house them. Am I a bad leader for picking a job... I'm not sure we can tackle...?" He said. "And what's more... what's wrong with you?"

Yuffie's grin vanished. Her eyes began to wander a bit, focusing on anything except Riki. "You're not a bad leader. You just have high expectations. You'll get us through it, no matter what." She muttered, trying to detract attention from herself. She was very clearly an amateur, because if anything, shying away from attention is a huge red flag for attention. "Don't worry about me. I have it under control. I'm just, feeling a bit under the weather is all."

Yuffie's grin vanished. Her eyes began to wander a bit, focusing on anything except Riki. "You're not a bad leader. You just have high expectations. You'll get us through it, no matter what." Neko came prancing back from the bakery, a box in her hand.

"I got caaakkeee~!" She exclaimed, running over to Riki, Yuffiex and Silver.

Obviously there was some serious conversation going on, but she didn't care.

"Whatcha guys fighting about?" She asked, getting uncomfortably close to Silver.

Soul rolled his head upwards, having been awoken from his daydreaming in a bad mood. Sidesteping towards NB, he coughed. "We still heading....?" The position of Never towards Yuffie caused his body to tense. What the hell is he doing, Soul internally yelled. Still in the process of thinking if he should punch NB or throw him off a building, Neko interrupted the thought with cake. "Not in the mood." Soul simply sat on the floor, wanting to watch the scene play out. "Really. We're at this point now?"

"Simple, Soul. If she won't tell me the truth, her soul will, weather she wants it to or not." NeverBetter stated, his eyes began to glow with a soft, yellow hew. (Something you lot may not know of me: I have a particular tallent for being able to look at and read a person's soul. I should be a Miester.)

"OHH, YOUR LIKE THAT INGA LADY FROM THAT SHOW I WATCHED!!" Neko suddenly yelled.

"You've got the creepy eyes and the clasp already..." she muttered in awe.

NeverBetter's eyes could pierce her soul. If she had one. He could see only darkness for a while, then two devilishly brown eyes opened, and seemed to move towards him. He could hear a slight maniacal laugh, coming from all around him. Yuffie slapped his hand away, and staggered a few steps back. She blinked, her eyes turned that same color. She blinked again, and she returned to normal. Yuffie fell to her knees for a split second. The ninja glanced up to NeverBetter. "Dammit NeverBetter." She muttered. "You're going to break my hold." Yuffie bit her lip. Thump. Thump. She was feeling a massive headache. This would not end well.

"Go away!" She yelled loudly. She pulled out a smoke pill, and threw it to the ground, and it exploded in a cloud of smoke. When it began to clear, Yuffie was gone without a trace.

We're on our own." He sighed, rubbing his face a little, he looked at the door to the outside. "I thought I told you all to gather supplies? Gearing items, foods, anything else you may need." He growled under his breath.

"I have what I need," Silver told him, "As well as Neko's stuff as well. I'll grab more if need be."

If something was wrong with Yuffie, Silver did wish to help in some way. These guys were all his friends, whether or not they were close to him didn't matter. He didn't like it when a friend was upset in any way.

"Don't worry boss, I took care of it." Cap said, carrying a bag of sub sandwiches for when the group got hungry in one hand, and a med kit in the other. Clasped to his side was a compass, a map, and a canteen. "So, are we ready?" the cyborg asked. He didn't like the sound of this mission, so he poured particular care into packing for the trip, just in case something went wrong.

"Don't worry boss, I took care of it." Cap said, carrying a bag of sub sandwiches for when the group got hungry in one hand, and a med kit in the other. Clasped to his side was a compass, a map, and a canteen. "So, are we ready?" the cyborg asked. He didn't like the sound of this mission, so he poured particular care into packing for the trip, just in case something went wrong.

"Cap, you're always reliable. " NeverBetter laughed. "Y'know, it's time for us to head out. You all ready!"

Nortanort tossed a muffin up in the air, caught it, bit into it and said, "As ready as I'll ever be. Say, did you and Yuffie eat those muffins I gave you two? If so, I'll be able to help you find her! Some lesser men may call it 'illegal,' but not I. Anyway, what they don't know won't hurt them. That's my philosophy." He wasn't even kidding. There was a magical core implanted into each muffin that allowed him to keep track of who ever ate them. Of course, he would never actually tell anyone this.

We might have gotten a little too much, but this is fine, right?" He asked, looking a little nervous now that he'd realized just how much food him and Reyn had ended up bringing back to the group.
