[Bravely Default] Is it a good idea to have Tiz (or any of the characters) with the Merchant class?

Posted

I constantly go broke, I'm at 2k PG right now so I kept Merchant on for a while on Tiz. But now that I'm back to the game after a long time of not playing it, I don't know if its a good idea to keep Merchant on.

I have White Mage as a Job Command while Merchant as a Fixed Command for Tiz. Should I forget about Merchant for any of my characters, or should I continue using it?

I've never used Merchant and I'm relatively fine with money where I am (late chapter 5). I do grind quite often though which gives me decent PG.

Getting a Level 9 Merchant is recommended as you get the "More Money" ability which is useful as it doubles money. There are a few things which are quite expensive but you shouldn't really have to worry about money until near the end of the game. You eventually get an ability called "Obliterate" which make it really easy to farm money and experience, so it's kinda a waste of time farming before then.

Merchant can end up really broken in the late game with the right tweaks, but I never found it a "fun" ability to use. BD actually has a well-scaled item availability in shops, so personally I would save the pg for that.
