Wow...just WOW Scamco. it was bad enough that you make custumes and stuff DLC but now you're making characters become DLC too!? Lol wow Scamco really knows how to scam you out of your money. Also, I heard that Tales of Zestiria wasn't all that great but man I didn't think it was this bad. I don't blame the Japenese gamers for feeling that the game feels unfinished. Not with all this info. Now I'm not sure if I'll buy it on day 1.

Not like it's the first time this has happened...

*points out various BN games with DLC costumes and characters*

*points out various developers also doing this*

It's a shame, Tales is one of my favorite series, but this is just disappointing. I might still buy Zestiria, but I'm not expecting much.

This DLC man, they just don't get how to do it right. I'm not gonna pay $2-3 for a costume when older games in the series had better ones in-game. That's already disappointing. But man, locking a highly anticipated character (which they advertised the crap out of) into DLC? That's just dirty. I almost wonder if they cut this content out of the game so they could sell it separate...

Basically not a problem unless it effects a franchise you like?

Umm, Mewtwo is DLC for Smash and everyone is okay with that? And we are not okay over this? Even PlayStation All Stars did this! And plus people now want more Smash DLC beyond a Miiverse stage and Mewtwo! But people are upset here? I don't get it!

Also, let's not forget about the Hyrule Warriors DLC and the Mario Kart DLC! They add characters and costumes and new game elements (like maps and stages)

I honestly don't have a problem with the DLC for Tales of Zestiria,Smash or Hyrule Warriors either

Also if people actually took the time to read the link the Tales of Zestiria DLC will be available for free during the anniversary of the series

I think it has more to do with the game's mixed reception

May I ask what's actually wrong with that DLC?

Aside from the way Bandai Namco has marketed it being stupid, the DLC is your typical additional scenario and it's not a true ending DLC unlike Asura's Wrath and XIII-2's DLCs

Atleast its better than Capcom DLC.

Absolutely

It might sound terrible, but if it's a game I don't care about any way, why would I bother to complain about their DLC practices? Like, yeah there are plenty of examples, and I wish all companies would do DLC better, but I'm not about to complain about the DLC for a game series I don't play. Fans of that series can do it for themselves (or eat it up, whatever floats their boat.

The character DLC is only bad because they included Alisha in most of the trailers and advertisements for the game, and apparently she was a big part of some OVA they made to advertise the game. It seemed like she would be a major character (especially considering another character was introduced that was directly connected to her), but then the game actually launches and surprises people with the fact that "oh, this character who we advertised as a big, main, important characters is only playable for 15% of the game." The costume DLC sucks because older games in the series use to include costumes IN-game as rewards for side-quests. I don't know about Zestiria, but Xillia had about 4 in-game costumes between all six party members with all the rest as DLC, while Abyss had around 8 costumes for each of its six party member available in-game, with no DLC (though DLC didn't really exist in the PS2 gen anyway).

For the second part of that comment, yes I agree it could be a lot worse. But just because some other series did something way worse doesn't mean fans of this series don't have the right to complain.
