Masquerade (Sign-Ups and Discussion)

Posted

A nameless city in the Pacific Ocean. Its origins are of no matter, but what is of matter is the people who inhabit it. One year ago, a shadow fell over the city. This shadow kept anyone and anything from entering in or out. Naturally, panic sparked, but something more intriguing came about. Out of the sky fell... Masks. The plain white accessories floated down gently. Though seemingly identical, these masks were all unique inside. You see... The Masquerade was beginning, and these Masks were the invitations. Unfortunately, certain Masks didn't sync well and turned the recipients into Masked Monsters. Maskers they soon came to be called. When the Masks did sync with their recipients, a much more interesting transformation occurred. Some people changed appearance, some changed all together, all had unique powers and abilities. What set them further apart was that these Guests were able to apply and remove their masks of unique appearance at will. The one catch, however, is that the Masks gradually drained the users' stamina. The more powerful the mask, the greater the drain. After a year of a pointless war against the Maskers, something... Interesting, even for the nameless city, was about to begin.

RULES

-If you sign up, you are expected to participate to the best of your ability.

-Posts must be a minimum of three lines.

-Keep language and other conduct PG-13.

-During battle with other roleplayers, be respectful and respectable. Don't automatically land fatal blows, or tear your opponent to pieces. Always land an action open ended, and communicate with you opponent separately if you want something intense to happen for the sake of the story.

-Speaking of, that's what this is, a story. Character development is nice and all, but plot movement will be necessary. I'll appoint an admin or two if my online frequency comes into question, otherwise I'll make sure that happens. Just play along.

-Respect the power of the RP admin(s). You're in control of your own character, not the entire roleplay.

-Type Miko at the bottom of your sign up as proof you've read all these rules, and that you intend to adhere to them.

Now for the fun part. Character creation, here's your formula.

Here's mine.

Name: Shiori Takane

Sex: Female

Age: 15

Wearer becomes flirtatious but also incredibly bloodthirsty and very difficult to negotiate with.

Mask ability: Able to assess an opponents remaining stamina, and allows the user to manipulate their own blood with little lethal risk. Stealing blood of others restores energy, and injecting her own blood into a foe, though difficult, is often an assured, able to incapacitate, manipulate, or outright to end life depending on the amount she shared.

Masked appearance: http://oi57.tinypic.com/2h564k0.jpg

Backstory: Shiori was always a quiet girl, preferring to sit in the corner of whatever room she was in and read whatever fantasy novel she had with her at the time. She became a hopeless fan girl of the vampires she read about, and often daydreamed them as the heartthrobs of her school. She was so shy that she never talked about her interests, however. In fact, she rarely speaks at all. Her social skills (or lack thereof), choice of literature, and extreme hemophobia led her to believe she was a disappointment to her parents who were both well respected doctors.

You better be, I'd have been disappointed if you hadn't have recognized it.

So your complement me. Maybe the shippers are right, on your end.

On my end, I'm still a Xenomorph. SHREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK

Complements are common between friends. It is flirting that would point to shipping.

Which... upon glancing back at my past comments I could see that.

Anyway xenomorphs are ugly.

. . . Did I just go completely unnoticed?

But powerful and apex predictors. Also, if I use a beautiful creature to host the chest burster, they will take on the beauty aspect of the creature, as it can be used to lure other creatures in to it that are unsuspecting.

Maybe I should leave one with you.

Cannot condone that as polite.

Ha, can't keep a good creature of destruction down. Unless you want to try!

Most ironic thing ever. The fact that only Senpai noticed me.

Okay, I'm going to put down an almost blank sign up sheet now because I need to turn off my laptop right now. I'll begin editing on my iPod right away, so just give me a little time to produce the final product.

Mask Name: Raiden (Literally meaning "God of Lightning".)

Mask Description: Due to the nature of the mask's power, the users nerves may become dull from over use. The user will also, and most likely, receive electrical signals sent from the mask to the brain through the nervous system. This will cause the user to develop a Dissociative Identity Disorder.

Mask Ability: The mask allows the user to manipulate electrical currents flowing from their own body as well as from electrical equipment. This may also include slightly influencing lightning during a storm.

Backstory: Charles Cerberus Cross, more commonly referred to as Chase by his friends, was the son of the head of a famous electronics company. Messing around with extrinsic a since he was young, Chase grew up building gadgets while his father and mother pestered him on becoming a great man who would take over the family company. Feeling overwhelmed and backed into a corner, Chase packed his bags and left the big city at the age of 16. Spending many nights alone and on the streets, Chase learned to look after himself with the bare minimum, using only what was available to him to get by. Even though he spent many months on the streets, nothing could stop Chase's unwavering optimism and happiness, appearing cheerful in even the most dire of situations.

Eventually, Chase realised that to support himself properly, he would need a job. Finding his way to The City, Chase "acquired" a job as an electro-scientist after simply dropping his name. As electronics was his hobby and was the major thing he excelled in while studying at school, he was more than prepared for the job he was given. Since then, Chase has lived comfortably in his own apartment. That is, until the masks began raining from the sky.

After a few weeks, Chase began growing attached to his mask and the handiness of being able to manipulate electricity for his job. However, he noticed that many were misusing the power they were given. Feeling as if he was capable of something, Chase began to patrol the night while wearing his mask. With a high sense of justice, Chase took it upon himself to "eliminate" all those who would misuse their powers by either destroying their masks or if necessary... Murder.

I like the character.

Generally the best way to keep an immortal creature dead would be to separate all parts of what is necessary for life from each other, preventing quick regeneration. Unless of course, the creature begins anew simply because of it's nature, in which case I would need more details in order to devise a proper way to kill it.

Unless you kill every single one of the same form of species as me you will never be rid of me.

Never

NEVER

AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Well that would take a while and a heck of a plan, but it's certainly possible.

I'd advise against full acts of aggression in the future.

Thanks. :)

Hm. A strategy relying upon espionage is an excellent one, but unless you can properly act according to intelligence gained through this strategy nothing will be gained.

That sounds overly predatory and carnivorous.

Which are not generally good qualities.

Item 3, Checklist 1 Riki.

Shame.
