Gloom (1x1 with Stardustblade)

Posted

The land was dark and desolate; a barren field with the only evidence of humanity being the rubble and debris of buildings as far as the eye can see. That was all the world was now; just shattered remnants of what once was. Humanity destroyed itself. It all started with the Gloom; it changed humans and made them evil and attack one another. First came the panic. Then the riots. After that the wars broke out and the anarchy until most of the humans were wiped from existence along with everything else which was blown to bits. Now, there's only few humans left who are struggling to survive.

A young boy of age five with markings of bones on his body and a sugar skull on his face was searching through the ruins of what once was a two story building. The Gloomified wildlife was too busy trying to kill another poor soul so the boy had time time to search for supplies. He needed some kind of medication for a dying man he called his father. With nothing but tattered pants and a satchel the boy was on his knees searching through the rubble for some kind of item he could give to his father so he could feel better.

"Por favor..." The boy sniffled, wiping away thick tears that ran down his face as he searched. The tears dampened the ends of his scruffy brown colored hair.

"Por favor... Por favor... Mi Papa..."

Jack settled the walkie talkie on the end table and walked away to let Miguel sleep. Grim prepared himself for the mission, braiding his hair and getting dressed in more appropriate clothing for the upcoming weather he was going to be facing. This included a heavier jacket than the hoodie he usually wore, and some boots with extra pair of socks. He couldn't help but to feel guilty. Miguel looked so upset with him. He would have to make it up later. At the hanger Ded had everything ready. The boy named Wright was there to fly the small aircraft. "Ok listen up, we'll fly over the area, but due to the lack of landing space we'll have to parachute our way in once we are told. We will go from there and if things go as planned, we will be able to find what we need, and clear an area for a helicopter to pick us up." Ded explained, holding his own backpack of supplies and weaponry. He turned. "If you don't have anything else to do. Get in." With that, Ded climbed into the aircraft, May following behind. "Oh I'm sure Miguel will stop being so grumpy once you return. You'll drag him to the farm and everything will go back to normal, alright?" Jack said, trying to reassure a doubting Grim. Grim smiled gently. "I hope so. Miguel is quite the stubborn person." Grim said with a small chuckle. "I'll be back then. Tell him to wait for me." Grim said, before turning and entering the aircraft. There was no turning back now.

Stiles didn't need to do too much to prepare himself for the mission; all he did was just count what he currently had in his inventory and made sure his sniper rifle and pistol was functioning properly and had full magazines. He listened to Ded's explanation and didn't mind at all the idea of jumping out of the aircraft. As soon as he was done with his inventory check he jumped right in behind Grim. He placed his hand on Grim's shoulder.

"I'm sure he is just acting this way due to his sickness. After he feels better he will apologize for acting such a way towards you... Although I believe the stubbornness will never go away." He fastened himself in his seat and took yet another extra check of what he had in his inventory. Double checking never hurt.

Grim smiled at Stiles and gave a nod. "His stubbornness is his charm, no less." He said with a chuckle. Truthfully he never wanted Miguel to change. Though being less headstrong wouldn't hurt. He strapped onto the chair along with the rest. Wright sat on the driver's seat, ready to go as he moved the plane across the small platform. "Here we go. Road is clear, weather is clear, estimated arrival time a few hours hell if I know to be accurate. We're good to go!" Wright said smiling. At the end of the platform a soldier waved red sticks to signal that he could go, and Wright took off, flying the plane into the sky. Grim, who had never ever been on a plane before in his life, gripped onto his seat for dear life, his yes darting back and forth across the cabin. His heart raced. They were flying. How strange it felt. As if the floor was gelatin, at least to him. He wished he could have dragged Miguel along. He was sure that Miguel would have lost his cool, squealing and freaking out along with him. If his father was alive and with them, he would roll his eyes and explain how the plane worked before reminding them to act their age. After about 10 minutes in, May removed her seatbelts and took off Grim's seatbelt off. "Come on, we have a few hours, I'm going to give you tips on how to use your tail." May insisted. Grim blinked and stood up, almost falling over but managing to keep balance, his tail arching up from underneath his shirt and outside. "Good. You can use your tail to fight. In its current state it's like a whip. Though I think you can change it just a little bit. Give it a try." May said. Grim paused, closing his eyes and thinking about it. The ends of his tail sharpened up, spikes forming at the end. This would be a long trip.

Stiles couldn't help but agree with Grim's statement. Yeah, Miguel was stubborn and feisty as hell, but that was what made Miguel Miguel. It added to his character, which was something no one should ever try to change. Although Stiles has to face this trait when he was attempting to give Miguel a checkup, either way he didn't mind the swatting and cursing.

"I believe it is out flaws that give us the most character." Stiles said. As they went in the air, Stiles didn't mind it at all. He had been in a plane before when he came from Germany, so it wasn't something he was unfamiliar with. Once they were actually in the air Stiles unbuckled his belt and went to go watch Grim train.

"I believe in you." Stiles said with a smile.

Grim concentrated. "Think of an animal. What animal has a crazy tail?" May asked. "Er..." Grim had to think about it for a while. When you live in the same type of geological location you don't get to see much different species. "A...pig?" Grim asked, the thought of it causing Grim's tail to curl. "No, I meant crazy crazy, something scary." May said. "A rattlesnake!" Grim said, his tail shaking like a maraca. "Oh my god no, you need something that's actually dangerous to use. What you going to do with that, shake the enemy away?" May asked. Grim shrugged and crossed his arms. There had to be something he had seen that was scary. Something...Something...then it hit him. When Miguel and him were smaller, they played in a small river and were going to get their clothes, when they saw something moving. Their father acted quickly, killing it, as it turned out to be a scorpion. 'Be careful,' he had told them. 'a single sting of their tail hurts like hell'. "Oh!" Grim said, with a moment of realization. Just like that, his tail drastically changed. It curled up, becoming thicker before expanding, a sharp and large blade forming at the end as it came to resemble a more smooth and flexible version of a scorpion's tail. It was very long, extending as much as the gloom would allow as it wrapped itself around Grim. "Very good." May said, smiling. "This is the type of thing you need to think about." She added. Grim chuckled. "This is so cool. I can't wait to show Miguel once we return home." Grim said cheerfully. "Now. Let's see how it handles being attacked." May said with a smirk. "On no." Ded muttered, taking long steps away from the doors. May charged at Grim, her blades trying to slice him without mercy. Grim didn't even have to move, as his tail twisted and blocked the blade, before wrapping around May's leg and throwing her across. May recoiled and jumped from the plane wall, launching at Grim. Grim backflipped out of the way gracefully, landing on his fours, much like a scorpion itself. "You know." May said. "I hope Miguel dies." May added. Using a strategy she was forbidden to use, but went ahead with it anyways. Grim's eyes widened, and as expected, the gloom did it's work. By instinct Grim charged at May, his tail whipping at her mercilessly as she blocked. The two clashed with their weapons again and again. Ded went again and pulled on a handle, clicking one of the doors of the plane open. Just as he did, May ran out through it, climbing on top of the plane. Grim went right behind, running as he climbed with his tail and on his fours. Ded did the same with the other door, and watched in amusement as the two fought and attacked each other, chasing themselves over and around the plane. "Don't make me turn this plane around!" Wright complained. "You think that's a good idea with how these two are right now?" Ded asked smirking. Wright muttered something under his breath before proceeding to eat a bag of chips as he flew.

Stiles had to say he was throughly impressed by the way Grim handled his tail. He never seen such an ability and skill before in his life, and just watching Grim change his form made Stiles want to conduct research on it. What he didn't expect however, was May's sudden strategy. Partially it wasn't shocking that May would say something like that especially considering Stiles' initial interaction with her, however he had to admit it was a clever tatic. Such a tatic immediately brought about a strong response from Grim. Stiles seriously didn't expect for the two to duke it out ontop of the plane. He nervously went to Ded, and placed his hand on his shoulder. "Uh... Do you think it is a good idea for them to go outside?" In the back of Stiles' head, he had minor fear. Fear that perhaps Miguel would get sicker.

"Honestly, it isn't the first time it's happened. Let them have fun." Ded said with a small smile. He couldn't help but to think of how riled up Grim had gotten over the mention of Miguel. "Those two are pretty close, huh?" Ded asked, referring to the Miguel and Grim situation. He hadn't met Miguel, but Grim's reaction was enough. "The kid is sick, right? For Grim's well being, I hope he gets out of it alive. Gloom and strong emotions don't go well, even for Ghoul Hounds. They can become unstable." Ded said with a sigh, watching the two chase each other across the plane, out and over. This went on for hours, until Grim and May got tired of it, and May apologized before Grim could choke her. The two ended up taking a nap on the floor of the plane for the rest of the trip, until the time came. "Alright everyone! We're getting ready to fly over the area! Get your parachutes ready!" Wright said, looking back up front. Ded slightly nudged at May and Grim. "You heard him, lets get started." Ded said. Grim and May woke up, stretching as they were handed their parachutes. "Alright! Time for the fun!" May cheered. Grim picked up the parachute and his backpack, his tail wagging. "Already..." Grim murmured, strapping it on. "We're right over the area, you should be able to jump down. Be careful!" Wright said. Ded smiled, strapping on his own parachute. "Ready to go then. Ready Stiles?" Ded asked with a smile. May didn't wait, opening the door. "Last one there is a rotten egg!" May yelled, jumping out, using her gloom blades to glide across as she fell. "Alright, you're up Grim." Ded said. "Right." Grim smiled, walking up. "You're confident." Ded said. "Of course! After this mission, Miguel and I are going to live with the kids in the farm!...we'll be normal again." With that, Grim stepped off, falling down as his tail straightened and helped him fall with grace. Ded smirked, looking at Stiles. "Lets go." And he jumped as well.

"First time that happened?" Stiles asked shockingly. He really didn't want to imagine what else could have possibly went on beforehand. What made it worse was that Grim was a novice in Gloom Hounding. Imagine what could have happened with May and a fellow professional Hound. He was surprised the plane was still functional. Stiles was going to make a futhur comment until Ded asked about Miguel.

"... Ja." Stiles said with a soft frown, thinking about how he had to handle Miguel prior to the trip. "He is very sick due to a case of E. coli. Today he has been much better, however it's only been a day. Usually it lasts for weeks... Sometimes months. Miguel is very close to Grim. He's Grim's little brother." He was going to explain futhur, but it was time to jump out. Stiles actually wasn't very afraid to jump out of the plane. If anything, he was just hoping he wouldn't get nauseous on the way down. Sadly he didn't have too much of a strong stomach. He looked over to Ded after he fixed on his parachute, and smiled.

"See you on the ground." He said. With that, he jumped right after.

They all fell across the sky. As Grim reached to May, he noticed the funny pose, as she looked as if she was resting on a bed. Miguel would've either found this funny or terrifying. The further they fell the closer the small town could be seen. A place purely used for scientific research now abandoned like the rest of the world. "Avoid the electric cables. Who knows if they still have a charge or two left." May said as she deployed the parachute. Grim waited a little bit longer before deploying his. He smiled and laughed at how fun it was to glide. Miguel would've liked it. Maybe. May and Grim landed on the abandoned street. Grim quickly used his tail to cut the parachute away from him. He looked around and stared at the giant building that overlooked the whole place. It was bigger than what he had expected. It had large rusty caution signs around on its windows and doors. The place was easily of four floors. More or less. "Wow..." Grim gasped with a slight purr. Ded landed along with Stiles a few moments after. "Well that was fun." Ded said, pushing the parachute away. "Alright. Stile will lead. You two watch around for any gloom infested or bandits." Ded said, taking out his assault riffle from his bag. Grim turned to look at the building, walking a few feet upfront with May. "Little brother huh? That's surprising to hear. Rarely families are together anymore. That's good to hear that one more is together after so much."

Stiles didn't really think much of the sight. All he was thinking about and focusing on was his stomach. Luckily they were about to land before the nausea set in. Stiles opened his parachute and glided to land a few feet away from the others. He took out his knife and cut the parachute off. Jumping out of a plane. That's one thing to cross off the list. Stiles took out his pistol and held it at his side. Sniper rifles are useless in this situation. He approached the others and began to head towards the facility.

"Let's go." He said with a nod. "Be cautious. It's like a maze in there. If any of you gets lost and there's infected anything in there, it's going to be very dangerous."

The group walked into the property. The doors of the main entrance were battered, the windows shattered into pieces as dust and cow webs covered the area. They entered the building, glass crushing beneath their steps. May used her blades to slice away spider webs. Grim had a lower approach, walking crouched as his tail pointed forward and around. "It's eerie as f*ck in here." May hissed. "What you expect? Flowers and a welcoming party?" Ded teased. Their voices echoed, even in whispers. Nature had done it's job, taking over as it crawled into the windows and covered the walls and floors here and there. The outdoor plaza in the very middle of the building in the shape of a square was overrun by wild plants, the trees expanding and growing out naturally. Part of the bark black with gloom. The sunlight was the only source of light as it came through the windows. Grim's eyes glistened in memories here and there. Of the times his father would have the group camp in large buildings like this. Grim and Miguel would explore the place to their hearts content as long as they returned by curfew. Grim felt his foot hit something. He glanced down to see the weirdest thing he had ever seen. It was a box with lenses and glass. It was rather small and covered in dust. He picked it up, seeing a button on it. He clicked it, only to be surprised by a flash coming from it. "SON OF A-!" Grim yelled in surprise as he fell back. Ded laughed, picking the thing up. "Hey look, it's a camera. Polaroid. Man these were the best."

Stiles looked around the room as they went inside. Suddenly many memories came back to him. Despite the drastic change, he still recognized everything. The layout, the spot where the broken vending machine once stood, the area in the corner where some of the scientists would stop to smoke. It was very strange. Even though the world was torn to shreds, when Stiles worked with the scientists in the facility it felt like a sort of home that is, until the building for compromised. His thoughts were cut short by Grim's sudden yell, and he went to go pick up the camera with a small chuckle. "Ahh... I barely remember cameras. I was only a child and my mutti had one. Even during the apocalypse by mother made sure she could still take pictures. I'll take this and give it to Nicholas and Ash. They would love it ja?" Under Grim's shoe, was a pink bunny plushie.

Grim rubbed his eyes and looked over at Stiles with a nod. "Though, I would actually like to take it to Miguel first...maybe I can show him pictures of this mission. Good ones though. Grim said with a smile. "Oi, you're stepping on something." May hissed. Grim looked down, lifting his foot to gently pick up the pink plushie in the shape of a bunny. It was dirty, smudged here and there, yet the bright color still stood out among the darkness of the place. "It's a plushie!" Grim said rather happily. "I remember dad finding a store filled with these! Miguel and I got to keep two for ourselves! Miguel's was this cute money with button eyes, and I got this unicorn and Miguel kept teasing that it was girly. We actually kept them but lost them when-!" Grim paused. "...that night." The night where Miguel was taken, they went to rescue him, and sh*t hit the fan. He couldn't help but to gently hug it. The feeling felt familiar. "Soft." Grim muttered. "You have a kid right? Maybe she'd like it." May suggested. Ded was checking on his small contraption, which was most likely a radar. "You're right. Ash could have this, and Nicholas the camera." Grim smiled, turning to Stiles as he showed him the bunny. "Don't you think she'd like it?" Grim asked. "My question is what is something meant for a little kid doing here?" Ded finally spoke.

Stiles wasn't really paying attention to the conversation at the moment. He was looking at a sign on the wall that said which rooms were which.

"Hm...." He said to himself. "We kept the important samples and supplies downstairs..." Stiles heard Grim suddenly talk about plush toys which caused him to turn his head. Upon seeing the bunny, Stiles let out a slow shaky breath. He slowly nodded in regards to Grim's question and reached out to take the toy. He began looking at it, and traced his finger over a stitch on the base of the right ear. "She'll love it..." He said softly. Stiles looked down to the side once Ded asked the question.

"It belonged to my daughter." Stiles muttered. "I held onto it... I thought I lost it when the facility had a breach."

Grim's tail lowered. Oh sh*t. There was an awkward silence. "...I'm so sorry." Ded said, clearing his throat. "Well, we better get going down to those samples and supplies then? Better start from the bottom and go on the way to the top?" Ded said, nudging at May. "Yes, lets." May said. Grim paused. He didn't know what to say. But just as suddenly, Grim threw his arms around Stiles, pulling him into a hug. "I'm sorry." Grim muttered. He let go, his tail then softly patting Stiles' shoulder. "Keep it. It's yours. We'll find another gift for Ash." Grim said smiling a bit. He took a few steps. "It's...important to keep things that remind you to those you love. It keeps you from losing sight of what you need to do." Grim said as he smiled up at Stiles. "Let's get those supplies, then. If we get lost in the past, we'll be lost forever. Besides, you shouldn't be too sad. Her daddy is a hero. I bet she's bragging about you to all of the angels above." With that, Grim walked down stairs following Ded.

Stiles wasn't really bothered by the awkward silence. If anything, he was just numb. Over the years, he learned to live with what happened. However... It made him numb inside. He wasn't expecting what Grim gave him; a hug. Stiles never had a true genuine hug in a very long time. Just getting the hug from Grim put just a little feeling inside of him. There was still things to live for. As Grim left with Ded, Stiles reached out and went after him. "Wait-" he stopped Grim by grabbing his wrist. Stiles held out the bunny to him.

"Please..." He whispered softly. "Give it to the little one. I... I still have things to remember her by. I have a picture and she is still in my heart. My daughter loved this rabbit with all her heart. She would have been so happy... Sharing it with another. So bitte, give it to Ash. She deserves it."

Grim stared. He smiled and took it gently, nodding. "Alright. I will...thank you for being so strong, Stiles. Not many are as brave as you." Grim said, and innocently enough, gave Stiles a kiss on the cheek. He got the plushie into his backpack to make sure it was safe, and turned. "Right, let's get going?" Grim said with a smile as he walked off. The group walked down the stairs, being ever so careful to make sure that there wasn't anything alive lurking around that would try to kill them. "See anything?" Ded asked. May looked around and pointed upfront. "Look." May whispered. He turned his head to see an infected deer, innocently enough eating some fungus off the wall. "Right..." Ded said as he went ahead and was about to shoot. "Wait...I want to try something." May said. She waited for Grim to come over, pulling him to the side. "Hey, Grim, kill that thing." May whispered. Grim tilted his head. "Why me?" He asked. "Think of the black deer meat...juicy...allowing your immune system to become stronger..." May whispered, almost as if trying to form Grim into a trance. "Besides...if you don't kill it...it will kill you." That one did it. The gloom inside Grim went into defense mode, wanting to protect their host. Grim dashed from his spot, running on all fours as he jabbed his tail up against the deer, slashing it in half with his tail before the deer could do anything about it. Just as quick, Grim bit down on the deer, ripping out its heart as it still beated. Ded smiled. "Good job." Ded said as he walked down the halls. "See why we call them hounds? Instincts are quite fascinating."

Stiles was very happy to see Grim accept the toy. When Grim took the toy, it was almost as if Grim was also taking a huge weight off of Stiles' shoulders. Stiles was never really stressed out, however he always had a lingering shadow of his daughter's death. He believed he moved on from it, but it was always in the back of his mind, returning here and there. As a father he knew he would always have a scar from it, but at least he could live with it and accept that it happened. Giving the toy to Ash meant a lot to him and helped him believe again that there were things to still life and fight for. Stiles was very impressed when he saw Grim take out the deer. Although the sight was savage, it was fascinating nonetheless. "I agree..." He said in response to Ded's comment. "It's truly instincts of a hound..."

Grim blinked a few times and spat the heart out. "That shouldn't taste as good as it did!" He hissed. "It's normal when you're infected with Gloom." Ded said as he walked with the rest, Grim following right behind, sticking close to Stiles. They walked down until they reached two large, broke glass doors with a sign that read, 'STAFF ONLY'. The dried blood on the glass said they were on the right path. "Be wary." Ded said as they walked deeper in. There were multiple rooms that had shelves filled with items in bottles and labeled. Some of the shelves were turned over, most of its items shattered and unusable. The stations still had items left out as the people had left in a complete hurry. There were dried up blood stain everywhere, in the shape of handprints and everything. The place was stuck in time. "Ok, what do we expect to find down here, Stiles? Medicine? Gloom specimens?"

  • Author

"Medicine... Samples of Gloom that we experimented on. Also, be very careful... We kept some diseases down here in a room next to this one. What ever you do, do not touch your eyes, nose, mouth, anything." Stiles said as he put his scarf over his mouth. "Also put something over your mouth. There could be many dangerous things we could be inhaling right now. Fungi... Toxins... Only Gott knows what else could be done here. The facility should've wiped the place clean after the breach with its emergency procedure. That's why many of the doctors died; they were trapped. It didn't do a very good job apparently." He peered over some shelves, taking notes on what he was finding. Nothing too important, just expired medications and whatnot. He was very careful in what he was doing, being very weary of what he was touching and moving aside. Even if the facility did successfully clean the place, there could still be dangerous bacteria that could've made its way down there with the Gloom and fungi that grew. As he was looking throw a row of old medicine, he stopped dead in his tracks when he heard a loud inhuman gurgling growl right from behind him. He was frozen, too shocked and unsure to turn around. From the ceiling, a ribbed creature crawled out behind the shadows right behind Stiles. It's sharp tail was pointing right at the medic's back from behind. It looked exactly like something out of Alien vs Predator if it wasn't for the shadows that it was hidden in.

(This, but a giant ribbed black centipede version with a really long sharp tail. It's also covered in thick Gloom and has rows of fangs in its mouth.

Ded walked around carefully, pulling his uniform over his mouth as he picked up glasses of medicine and checked out for anything that could be useful. The low growl of the creature echoed across the quiet of the floor. Ded could only look through the glass in horror to see how close the creature was to Stiles. "SHIT." He whispered, getting ready to aim. "What do we do?" May whispered. "We first have to get Stiles out of his position. That's priority." Ded hissed. Grim slowly crouched, his tail shaking as he ever so slowly approached from the side, being as light on his feet as he could. "Once he gets it, pull Stiles out." Ded commanded. "Yes sir." May said as she followed. Grim stared at the creature in horror. Out of all his years he had never seen anything like that before. It was something out of a nightmare. If it wasn't for the fact that Stiles was in danger, Grim would have suggested to make a run for it. His tail stretched ever so slowly, and suddenly it wrapped itself around the creature's tail, pulling on it away from Stiles to get its attention. "Now!" Ded commanded. May slid on the floor, grabbing Stiles by the arm and throwing him away from the monster next to Ded. Ded pointed his assault rifle as he began to shoot rounds at it, May trying to slash it as Grim's tail fought against its tail for control.

Stiles was dead frozen. He knew there was a creature behind him, but he really didn't know how to react. He felt the sharp tail poke into his back and cut into his shirt. His heart was racing, and the expressions from Ded and Grim made it even worse. Luckily, Grim ripped the tail away and May got him out of there. Stiles fell right next to Ded and let out a sharp breath he didn't realize he was even holding. As soon as he got up he began to shoot at the creature as well with his pistol. "D-Danke...." He said, his voice shaky.

Meanwhile, the creature hissed and screeched, jumping around on the ceiling before throwing itself into the vents to escape. As soon as it did, there were sounds of similar hissing and growls coming from another room followed by banging on a locked door to the other room.

"Oh my god there's more." Ded said in horror. Grim growled as he walked protectively over to Stiles, his tail wrapping ever so gently. "We can barely handle one of those things come out we're done for!" May hissed. Ded gritted his teeth. "Stiles, take Grim and take anything that you need to take from this floor, afterwards we need to get the hell out of here, because I'm blowing out the stairway to this place and trapping them in." Ded said, reaching in his bag for explosives. "Excellent plan." May said as she glared at the door. "What are they?" Grim asked. Ded had to think about it himself. "My speculation is that they are either infected insects, or infected doctors that died here before being contaminated with gloom. The gloom overtook their conscious, and they've evolved as far as the Gloom has wanted it to go." Ded said. He turned to Stiles. "You and I have to make sure we don't get contaminated. These two can do what they can in their state." May quickly walked over to the banging door, pushing a shelf against it as she could hear the crack of the door starting to give into the loud pounds. "Either you two wait upstairs until Grim and I take care of it or do what you want!" May hissed. "Can I reach them from the vent?" Grim muttered. "For all we know they can reach us...Oh I know that look don't you dare think we're letting you crawl up there to get into the room to fight them." Ded scolded. "That actually doesn't sound like such a bad idea?" May said as she pushed against the pounding door.

Stiles immediately protested against the idea of Grim going to fight the creates. For starters, he had to bring Grim back in one piece. If Miguel found out anything bad happen to Grim, Stiles would be number one on Miguel's s*** list and kill list. The other reason was that Stiles considered Grim a friend, and he didn't want putting anyone in the group to a danger such as that. He looked around hurriedly, and shoved as much items as he could in his bag. Luckily he sorted out the promising items, so he got most of what he could. He took one of the large shelves and began to push it with all his might. "Only Gott knows what's in there!" He called, glancing to the vent as he pushed. "I won't risk sending him in that room. We have no idea what else is in there and how many there are. We're going to have to push this self to block the door and run."

"Blowing out the entrance so they get trapped down here it is." Ded said calmly, as Grim proceeded to help Stiles push the vent as May kept the door from busting from its hinges. Ded started to set up the explosives up down the hall and up the stairs. If he could make sure that they didn't come out, they could be safe for the moment. May moved out of the way as Grim and Stiles pushed the shelf against the door, slamming it to make sure it was all the way over. Grim could hear the hissings and the low growls from the room. This was easily one of the most terrifying moments of his short life. "Get over here!" Ded yelled, his voice echoing through. "If we leave the monsters will be right behind!" Grim yelled. "You boys get going, I'll make sure that this stays shut long enough for the explosions to do their trick. Hurry!" May hissed. Grim took a look at her and gave a nod, quickly taking Stiles' hand and making a run for it. They ran down the hall and up the stairs, where Ded was waiting. He pushed them back to the top. "May, you have five seconds!" Ded yelled. "Yes!" May yelled. She gave one final push, and with that, she ran for it just as Ded pressed the explosives. Explosions occurred all over the hallway, May running as fast as she could as the roof above her was beginning to collapse. He could hear the creatures roaring as they busted the door off its hinges along with the shelf. "May!" Grim yelled as his Gloom tail extended to her. She took it and Grim pulled, pulling her up the stairs just as the ceiling collapsed. Grim caught her in his arms and smiled. "Thanks." May said. Ded watched as the stairs were blocked with debris, the basement floor now unreachable. "Well then...what's next?"
