A rebooted, different take on the previous adaptation of the fabulous Mortal Instruments book series. The actors that they've casted look very much like how I imagined the characters when reading. Hopefully the series will be good and much better than the movie.

Premieres on ABC Family in January 2016. Not sure where in Canada but most likely ABC Spark. Please let me know if you hear any other information concerning it. You'll probably have to buy a package if you have fibreop for it

Doesn't look fantastic to me, but I didn't enjoy the film, either. The MI seems to be a series better left as books.

I actually kinda agree with you but the tv series for what it is as a series/different take on the books looks like it is worth a look alone

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on how much they change.

Personally, I'm hating these new "revamps" of old material they keep doing: either do it right, or stop.

MI is a good example, but I'm not going to say do or don't watch, as that's not my place.

I might skip it, but that's just me.

What exactly is the "RIGHT" way of adapting? Having it be exactly word for word like the book? If you ask me that is completely boring and pointless. I mean, what I actually LIKE about having these adaptations exist is to see a different take on the source material like what ALL of these superhero movies are doing to the comics. I understand that some of these changes may not be for the better but you have to look at the new version of the material as its own thing. No matter what happens, the books will STILL be the books regardless of how much they change. Its actually a terrible thing to have it be almost exactly like the books because then it ruins your imagination of it as you are watching something that was just transcribed to you in your head. Is the point of reading to not USE your head and make something come to life through that? As well, what works in a book does not necessarily always work well in a movie  tv series etc. It has a different set of rules like different levels of pacing, energy flow, different points of value etc.

I meant at least have it resemble the source material, and not edit everything out, like a lot of books-to-film's are doing lately.

But I can see your point.

Luke being a detective is actually not that much of a change considering that he and his pack hid out in a police station in the first place and it actually expands his character more. Who knows? Maybe this series will fix some of the problems that non fans see about it and trust me, as much as I LOVE The books, many do not and actually consider Hunger Games and Twilight to be much better (even though this came before the former)
