Story:
Batman: Arkham Knight takes place one year after the events of Batman: Arkham City, as well as The Joker's death after the events of City. Due to The Joker's death, crime has dramatically decreased in Gotham City. Everything is all quiet and pieceful, but on Haloween the villians finally make their move, and Scarecrow uses his fear toxin on a local diner, telling the residents of Gotham City that he plans to release his fear toxin all over the city to cause fear and chaos on the streets of Gotham. The story of Batman Arkham Knight was very well done. Though it still doesn't compete with Arkham City and Arkham Asylum's story. It does have one flaw, which is the story on the Arkham Knight told and who he really is. Which I really think could, AND TOTALLY should, have been done loads better. That's pretty much my only gripe I have with the plot of the game. But other than that, the plot was fantastic as always from Rocksteady.
The 100% ending was just beautiful and really gave me a Dark Knight Rises vibe. It was a very good way to end the batman Arkham series. And it is because of that ending that i now consider the Batman Arkham series one of my favorite video game series of all time. It definitely beats the plot of a few other games series I know. I really do hope that Rockstead makes a Superman game since they have proven to me that they have the potential to make a really good Superman game (plus the fact that Metropolis and Lex Luthor were mentioned in the game).
Gameplay:
The gameplay is simply amazing and is an even further improvement from Batman Arkham City. Not only do you get more combos and moves, but you also get introduced tho the double team combat attack. Which I find to be simply amazing. I found myself constantly using them to take down thugs and other baddies that bring chaos to Gotham City. too bad I can't say the same thing about the Batmobile gameplay.Unlike the hand-to-hand combat, the Batmobile's gameplay is really repetitive and is just a chore. Especially when it's required to solve puzzles and getting past obstecles. Sure it does help you get to destinations faster, but that's about the only thing it's good for unless you're the kind of player who just sticks to just gliding around rooftops and getting to destinations the old fashioned way. I really wish that Rocksteady did a better job with the Batmobile's gameplay because it is just atrocious and just plain repetitive.
Presentation:
While Batman Arkham Knight is a really amazing game, it still doesn't quite beat previous Arkham games like Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. But that doesn't really make it a bad game either. It's a wonderful addition to the Batman Arkham series despite some of its flaws. The soundtrack is amazing as always and fits very well with the situations you have with the game. Rocksteady did another fantastic job with handling the soundtrack like in previous Arkham games.
The graphics are a step-up from both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. And the models have also been further improved from Arkham City as well. The voice acting was great as well. I was both very surprised and glad that they were able to bring back Mark Hamil to voice The Joker as he appears throughout the entire game. Kevin Conroy did another great job on voicing Batman as well. Heck, I'd say that the entire cast that voiced all the characters were good. But I really love how they got a new VA for Scarecrow. He really gave Scarecrow a lot of emotion as a villian. He is certainly better than the person that VA Scarecrow back in Arkham Asylum. Like, loads better.
My other gripes I have on this game is the lack of boss battles. There was absolutely NO boss fights in the entire game. At all. And I am very dissapointed to see that Rocksteady left that out in this last entry of the Arkham series. The boss battles in previous games really helped makes the Arkham games even more epic and amazing. SO I am truly sad to see no boss battles in this game. And the DLC story campaings were too short and made me wish they were longer. Very disappointed in those as well as far as story length goes.
Verdict:
After beating Batman Arkham Knight all I have to say is that Arkham Knight was great. The story was interesting and kept me going for more info on the plot (excpet the plot with the Arkham Knight of course), the gameplay was further improved and even better than Arkham City, and the graphics look amazing on PS4/Xbox One/PC. I I did bump into the game getting forze for one second an continuing the nexy. But those are only small minor complaints. The rest of the game is great and I totally recommend picking it up for your next-gen console. It's a must-have.
So, without further ado, I give this game a 7.5 out of 10.
+ Great story
+Amazing combat system
-Repetitive and boring Batmobile gameplay
-Lack of boss battles.
