Why does it depress me? It makes backwards compatibility less likely. Sony doesn't actually think PS Now can replace backwards compatibility do they? If they do, they're very wrong. Why? Well there's all sorts of reasons! For starters, can they put every PS1, 2, and 3 game ever made on PS Now? Nope. Therefore the library will always fail in comparison. Can PS Now play the hundreds of games I already own? Nope. I own like so many games and spent thousands of dollars on them just so new hardware won't play it? I'm not the only one disappointed by this. How many people will pay like 3 bucks to play a game for 4 hours? Or 15 bucks for 2 weeks? Certainly not me, and I'm not the only one. I don't think many other people will either. Subscription? Sure, for nearly 50 bucks a month. For that kind of hefty price I'd be much smarter to just go play on my old PS3. Lot cheaper in the long run. No incentive? Don't be so sure. People went pretty crazy when Xbox One did it. I think people would be more likely to trade their PS3 and upgrade to PS4 if they did it. And don't forget retro gamers. You know people who wanna play good classics like me? Not all of us only want to play stuff that JUST came out, Sony. Remember that.

Play them on your PS3

Sony already has your money. You bought a PS4. There's literally nothing you can do that will financially impact them

PSNow doesn't have to replace backwards compatibility, but for every person who buys it, or a full price HD remaster, that's money in the bank, where backwards compatibility costs them money and doesn't sell units

You do realize it amounts to the same thing? Backwards compatability on the XBOne isn't a magical patch that suddenly allows all games to play. Complexities of how they package and emulate the games aside, they have to choose what games to allow to be made available, and there's no guarantee all of these games will be good (and if the current list is any indication, it will be about as interesting as PSNow's lineup).

PSNow wasn't intended for people already invested in the ecosystem, it was made for people who are new gamers or people coming from different brands who have never experienced these kinds of things (especially the bigger titles, since most of the indies are cross-platform).

There's plenty to be said about the pricing (it's not the greatest) or their offerings or whatever, but just because the service isn't for you doesn't inherently make it a bad service.

That's only because they were designed from the start without backwards compatibility. You don't have to choose what gets put on backwards compatibility when it's truly backwards compatible (not that it'll always work)

Right, but the company (not just Microsoft, third parties as well) will still have to specifically designate which titles are the ones they'll allow for emulation, so it comes down to the same scenario: the company in charge is choosing which games to make available to you at whenever they feel like it. It's not, say, the 3DS where you just plug-and-play.I never really got why it was such a big deal anyway. At least, I certainly don't remember it being an issue in the previous console generation handover. There was limited backwards compatibility for each console which they eventually phased out, only for them to later make select titles available digitally which everybody was totally cool with. Some things never change.

Sony even said it's not their answer to backwards comparability. And you got the prices completely wrong.

And the Xbox One backwards compatibility requires a patch for literally every game. So chances are the games you wanna play won't be patched anyway.

What are the prices then? It's Sony's chance to beat it out then.

They're still really bogus. And sales are nothing to brag about.

Seem fine to me. And it's the best you're going to get for a lot of those games.

I never said that. Lol. It's not going to happen so you just have to get over it.

Not gonna happen? Then why'd you tell me to ask them on social media a while back?

I did? Must have been talking about PSOne & PS2.
