Am I the only one who prefers FFIV The After Years than FFIV?

Posted

Just as the title says, does anyone like FFIV The After Years more than the original FFIV game (I do)?

I don't know why, I just loved it; I just couldn't wait to see the girl with her theme, threatening all of the main characters. In my opinion, the story was awsome, I loved how they devided it into separated episodes for each character (even though you had to watch similar scenes in different episodes), the combined attacks were brilliant, etc. Also, I hadn't played FFIV for some years before playing this title, so having the same maps made me remember FFIV, which was very good.

The only things I didn't like of this game were that you had to start at low levels with characters who you used to have at high levels, the difficulty (it was too easy in my opinion), some episodes (like Edward's) weren't too good, and that's about it.

I would also like to ask something those who have finnished the game: there isn't anything said to what happened to the other moon (Golbez's and Fusoya's one) after Zeromus' Malice appeared, nor do we know what happens to Golbez (if he survives) once he leaves at the end of the game, right?

The After Years was good, but not as good as the original. It was a lot more linear,I didn't like the episodic structure, a lot of moments from the original were repeated in this game for some reason and I didn't like the final boss and his backstory,it was weird. It just felt like I was playing a downgraded version of the original FFIV.

FF4TAY combines elements from FF6, especially around the end

iso yeah, I'd say it's better

Those guest bosses have been removed in the 3D remake.

yeah, I know, and that's a huge shame. Not what I was talking about though. I was referring to the final chapter, where you use an airship to kourney the world and rerecruit your huge party, and interact with all the summons

I didn't play the 3D remake, I played the PSP version, so I didn't know they were removed, it is actually a shame, it takes away half of the final dungeon's bosses.

There's so many with them and remaking bosses from I, II, V and VI in 3D is a funny situation since there's zero assets available.
