Pokemon: A new Beginning in Johto

Posted

Here it was, at long last, New Bark Town! Charles North, who preferred to be called Chuck, had finally arrived at his long awaited destination. Here he would receive his first Pokémon and start his journey as a Pokémon Trainer! He was so excited! As he approached Prof. Elm's lab, he found a bunch of other kids like himself, here to receive their first Pokémon as well. He went inside and approached the Professor.

"Hello young man, are you here for your first Pokémon?" Prof. Elm asked.

"Yes sir, my name is Charles North and I'm ready to start my journey as a Pokémon Trainer!" Chuck replied, a big smile on his face. "But please, call me Chuck."

"Oh, so you're Pryce's grandson!" Prof. Elm said, turning around to where three Pokeballs sat. One by one he threw them, and a Pokémon popped out of each. "You have three choices." he said. "Chikorita." he gestured to one with a leaf on it's head. "Cyndaquil." gesturing to the one with flames coming out of it's back. "Or Totodile." gesturing to the one standing on it's hind legs with spikes coming out of it's back.

Chuck looked them over and noticed something odd about the Cyndaquil. "Professor, aren't Cyndaquil normally blue? Why is this one red?"

"Well Chuck, some Pokémon may appear as an alternate color. It is a very rare occurrence, though it doesn't effect the Pokémon in any way other than it's appearance." Prof. Elm replied.

Chuck nodded, with a smile on his face as he decided which Pokémon he wanted. "Alright Professor, I would like to choose Cyndaquil as my partner."

"Alright Chuck." Prof. Elm said, grabbing Cyndaquil's Pokeball and recalling it before handing it to Chuck with a Pokedex. "Would you like to give a nickname to her?"

"Her?" Chuck asked.

"Yes, this Cyndaquil happens to be a female." Prof. Elm replied.

Chuck let Cyndaquil out of her ball and picked her up, looking at her for a bit. "I think I'll call you Ashley." he said, smiling. "Cyn!" the Cyndaquil replied, happily nuzzling his face. He laughed and returned her to her Pokeball. "Thank you Professor!" he said, before heading out of the lab.

"Im from Cherrygrove City. Ive come here to New Bark Town all the time to see new trainers leave to go on their journies." Alexis smiles. "Alot of them leave to take on the gym leaders... Im not one of them Im here to enjoy my travels. I think my goal will be to complete this pokedex..." She explains.

"I see." Adam turns to the computer and clacks away at the keys. The machine stops. "Your pokemon is healed you may take it back." he says as he stands up after turning off the computer. "Well then. I suppose Ill be seeing your around then." Adam then leaves the building without another word. As he comes out of the building he looks at Chuck, James, and Kor. "You set to go?"

Kor looked at Adam, and returned Azure to his Pokeball without him knowing, and nodded at Adam with a smile. He knew that he need to gain Azure's trust during all of this, as things could take it's time. He also wanted to be careful when training Azure, as if he messes up, Azure could try to attack people, as he seemed to not like people. This concerned Kor quite a lot. He was determined to gain Azure's trust. "I'm all set, Adam, I already an ready to move." Said Kor, talking to Adam.

Adam nods as he recalls Rex and set the Pokeball on his belt. "How far should we travel?" he asks as he fastens his backpack around his waist. "I would also like to ask if any of you are taking on the gyms here in Johto."

Kor looked at Adam with a smile as he put his hands behind his head. He looked towards the sky, and back at Adam. He knew the location of the Pokemon Gym near him and his friends. He looked at Chuck and Adam as he folded his arms. "Actually, there's a Gym in Violet City where I came from. We could perhaps start there. I also intend to challenge the Gyms as well." Said Kor, talking to Adam.

Alexis picks up the pokeball and then puts her hands on her hips. "Well that was a bit rude. Just having us tell him about ourselves and then leaving without returning the favor?!" Alexis muttered. "Although I suppose I did learn more about you." She says looking at Strike

Strike was a bit annoyed with Adam himself, "If I meet him again, he is going down! But hey, don't you have to heal Zoda now?" Strike asked Alexis looking down at Zoda and back to Alexis.

"Right." She nods as she clutches the pokeball in her right hand. "Come on out." Alexis throws the pokeball into the air and from a flash of light the Chikorita appears. Alexis then kneeled down infront of the grass type pokemon. "Now that we can be more formal. Im Alexis a new trainer from Cherry Grove City." She explains to the pokemon. It crooks its head. "Never mind that. Im just glad to have you as my first Pokemon. As such I thinks its proper that I give you a name and Ive already thought of one." She smiles. "It'll be Hahari." The Pokemon seems indifferent.

Strike looked at Zoda confused, as Zoda did the same with Strike. "If you don't mind me asking, why a name like Hahari?" Strike asked. He still wanted to help heal Zoda.

She shrugs. "I just like it plus it reminds me of my mother that was the name she gave her first Pokemon."  Alexis smiled before turning her attention back to the Chikorita. "Hey now I need you to use heal pulse on Zora for me ok"

The pokemon nodded and turned to the Cyndaquil. Its leaf atop its head begins to glow.

Zoda was affected by the move, and in no time Zoda became better. Strike smiled as he held Zoda. "Zoda, you're better! That's great, now we can get a move on with our journey." Strike said with a smile. He then turned and looked at Alexis. "Thank you for healing Zoda. Well it's been nice meeting you, I'm off." Strike said as he walked out of the lab with Zoda.

"I'm looking to challenge the gyms as well." Chuck said, recalling Ashley. "I'm all set to go."

"H-hey! Wait a minute! Your just going to leave me like that I don't think so." Alexis crosses her arms. "Im not a free medic. Since Hahari healed your pokemon you'll have to take us at least to Violet City, got it!"

Strike looked at Alexis and then to Zoda. "Such a stubborn girl, still she did help us." Strike said to Zoda and then looked back at Alexis. "Fine, but if you get in my way at all, then your on your own. Got it, now let's go." Strike said as he began to walk again towards Route 29.

"Fine by me!" Alexis growled as she followed close behind Strike. Harari followed as well. "So are you taking on the gyms?"

Strike continued walking. "Well I think I should, just to give me more of a practice of being with a Pokemon and battling with them. However, my main goal is to find Raikou, and uncover the truth behind the legends of not just Johto, but every region. I figured I start with Johto and then go from there." Strike said as he continued walking. It wasn't long until the group reached Route 29 where there were many trees. "Hmm, there must be wild Pokemon here, we better be careful." Strike said.

"Well yeah. What else would we do?" Alexis replied crossing her arms "We probably should hurry up to Cherry Grove City before the night falls"

Strike suddenly heard a noise. "Ssh, be quite, I hear something. Zoda gently, headbutt that tree behind us." Strike said as Zoda then gently headbutted the tree only to have a Ledyba land on Alexis's face. Strike looked at the Pokemon and took out his Pokedex to get research data, "So that is a Ledyba, but look at the antennae on it, it's short, must mean it is a female. I think I should catch it." Strike said as he then ordered Zoda to use Ember on the Pokemon still on Alexis's face.

"No! Stop!" Exclaimed Alexis as she ran swiftly to the left to avoid the flames. He sudden actions caused the ledyba to fly upward.

Zoda just move the attack to Ledyba's position and it landed the attack. This caused the Ledyba to grow mad and it went into Comet Punch Zoda. "Zoda wait for the right moment and grab it, and them use Headbutt straight at it!" Strike said as the Ledyba then went in to punch Zoda, only to be stopped by Zoda who then attacked it with a very powerful headbutt attack. This attack caused Ledyba to be sent backwards, but it quickly got up and used Bug Buzz, causing it to vibrate it's wings. The attack pierced Zoda's hearing, but Zoda endured the attack, "Now Zoda, Flame Burst attack!" Zoda then used Flame Burst letting the flame hit Ledyba. Ledyba was now weakened, "Pokeball go!" Strike then sent a Pokeball at Ledyba, and after a moment of waiting in anticipation, the red blinking light ended, 'Capture complete' Strike took the Pokeball and held it up, "Yes!!!!! I just caught my first Pokemon!!!!!!! We got a Ledyba!!!!!!" Strike screamed out as Zoda then jumped up and said "Quil"

''Let me check if I have everything. hmm.. 5 Pokeballs... My special Ultraball... A couple of potions... Im set to go!''

(How does he have a special Ultra Ball?)

"Congrats, it looked like a pretty tough fight." She grinned "want Hahari to heal your pokemon" she was clearly doing this to somewhat mock his stubborness.

Hahari seemed to catch on and was, in a way, mimicking Alexis' expression.

Adam turned to Kor. "Violet City I presume? It is the closest gym from here if my memory serves me right. there is also Sprout Tower. we should definitely check it out seeing as it is a well known landmark for new trainers like us."  He then turned to Chuck and nods "Then it wouldn't be out of the question to train together along the way. however our teamwork may have to end if we reach the indigo plateau for we may be put against one another..." He then looked at James. "And you? are you facing off against the gyms?"

"Just because we'd face off against eachother doesn't mean we can't still be a team, or friends." Chuck said. "But Sprout Tower sounds like it'd be an interesting place to check out."
