Here it was, at long last, New Bark Town! Charles North, who preferred to be called Chuck, had finally arrived at his long awaited destination. Here he would receive his first Pokémon and start his journey as a Pokémon Trainer! He was so excited! As he approached Prof. Elm's lab, he found a bunch of other kids like himself, here to receive their first Pokémon as well. He went inside and approached the Professor.

"Hello young man, are you here for your first Pokémon?" Prof. Elm asked.

 

"Yes sir, my name is Charles North and I'm ready to start my journey as a Pokémon Trainer!" Chuck replied, a big smile on his face. "But please, call me Chuck."

 

"Oh, so you're Pryce's grandson!" Prof. Elm said, turning around to where three Pokeballs sat. One by one he threw them, and a Pokémon popped out of each. "You have three choices." he said. "Chikorita." he gestured to one with a leaf on it's head. "Cyndaquil." gesturing to the one with flames coming out of it's back. "Or Totodile." gesturing to the one standing on it's hind legs with spikes coming out of it's back.

 

Chuck looked them over and noticed something odd about the Cyndaquil. "Professor, aren't Cyndaquil normally blue? Why is this one red?"

 

"Well Chuck, some Pokémon may appear as an alternate color. It is a very rare occurrence, though it doesn't effect the Pokémon in any way other than it's appearance." Prof. Elm replied.

 

Chuck nodded, with a smile on his face as he decided which Pokémon he wanted. "Alright Professor, I would like to choose Cyndaquil as my partner."

 

"Alright Chuck." Prof. Elm said, grabbing Cyndaquil's Pokeball and recalling it before handing it to Chuck with a Pokedex. "Would you like to give a nickname to her?"

 

"Her?" Chuck asked.

 

"Yes, this Cyndaquil happens to be a female." Prof. Elm replied.

 

Chuck let Cyndaquil out of her ball and picked her up, looking at her for a bit. "I think I'll call you Ashley." he said, smiling. "Cyn!" the Cyndaquil replied, happily nuzzling his face. He laughed and returned her to her Pokeball. "Thank you Professor!" he said, before heading out of the lab.

Kor looked at Adam, and nodded with a smile. He could tell that this was his first time in his life at camping. He was feeling interested by this camping rest. He didn't mind having to camp, as he and his friends could continue tomorrow. "Sure, Adam, this is actually my first camping experience in my life, I don't mind, of course." Said Kor, talking to Adam.

As they set up, a Larvitar that appeared to be a lighter green than normal saw their fire and got curious, wandering over.

"This is far from my first time camping out. Ive had to do this since I traveled here by foot." said Adam as he finished setting up the lightweight tent he had strapped to his hiking bag. He placed down a mat in the tent, no blanket and then he placed his bag at the top of the mat to act as a pillow. "So I found some berries around the nearby area if you guys want I could see what I could do for dinner." He said as he pulled 3 Oran berries, 2 Rawst berries, and 4 Persim Berries from his bag. His attention was then drawn to the Larvitar. "Well well... Thats quite the find." he smiled as he pulled out his pokedex from his back pocket. 

 

***Larvitar, The Rock Skin Pokemon and the pre-evolved form of Pupitar.***

Larvitar is born deep under the ground. To come up to the surface, this Pokémon must eat its way through the soil above. Until it does so, Larvitar cannot see its parents.

Strike started laughing as the fire attack reached Zoda. "News flash, you just powered up Zoda! He has his hidden ability of Flash Fire, which means that fire attack just powered him up!" Strike said laughing as he then got serious. "Now Zoda, Flare Blitz attack!" Strike said as Zoda then engulfed itself in flames and charged at Quill with the power-up move!

Tei's eyes widened in shock as he found out Zoda's ability the moment the pokemon had already gotten engulfed into flames.

Strike's Pokemon grew in power as it absorbed the flames and then got covered in more for its attack.

The Flare Blitz attack hit Quill and launched him on one of the trees behind Tei.

Quill broke through the tree and fell on the ground unconcious.

Tei had lost and he was shaking in both shock and rage.

In the end he fell on his knees in defeat, his hair falling before his eyes, creating a shadow on his face.

He had lost. And he had gotten humiliated too.

Alexis stood up and looked to the Chikorita and sighed. "Hahari use Grassy Terrain!" The grass pokemon nooded and let loose a pulse of green energy that reached both Cyndaquil and began healing them. "Im only giving you both so much health. Then you two should go to the pokemon center. Understood?"

The Larvitar jumped back when he saw the kids, but then saw the berries. Chuck grabbed one and held it out, to try and draw it closer. The Larvitar took the bait, and walked up to him, munching on the berry. "Seems this little guy was hungry." he said. Unfortunately, the moment he spoke, the Larvitar snapped out of his eating and realized where he was, and started thrashing to get away. Hedwig flew in and used Hypnosis to put it to sleep, calming it down. The shiny Pokémon snored, dealing some damage to Hedwig, who in turn pecked it. "Enough Hedwig!" Chuck said, tossing a Pokeball before the Pokémon woke up. It shook once, twice, three times, and pinged the capture. He picked up the ball and said "I'll call you Gojira."

Alexis began wrote down directions to her house from the pokemon center on some paper she had in a notebook. "Ithats where my house is, alright? Ill be there. ive just got to prepare for a visitor, apparently."

Kor was watching, sitting down next to the campfire. He was a little surprised to see a different colored Larvitar. He looked at Chuck, and gave him a thumbs up. He was feeling impressed about what he just saw. "Good job, Chuck, you've got it." Said Kor, talking to Chuck.

Strike went to Tei and reached out his hand to him. "Look, you may have lost, but beating yourself up over it isn't helping anything. Why don't we go heal your Pokemon at the Pokemon Center? It's the least I can help you do. And maybe I should give you a few tips on how to raise your Pokemon and battle with them. It isn't at all hard, you just need to think about everyone's powers and abilities, both trainer and Pokemon. Think about every detail when battling and think of how you can use that to your advantage." Strike said to Tei.

This was the worst thing that Tei had experienced.

Not only had he lost but the guy he had grown to hate was now helping him get back on his feet. How was he supposed to despise him now?

Strike made it too hard for him to do so.

In the end, Tei accepted Strike's hand and agreed to getting to the Pokemon Center.

"Just know, that I will win next time. From now on, we're rivals!"

Adam looked at Chuck. "That would be the second oddly colored pokemon you have, no?" He said calmly as he took Rex's pokeball off of his belt and called the Totodile out. The pokemon appeared from the flash of light and immidiatly began to run about, joyfully. I ran towards Hedwig to greet the owl pokemon. "I will need more than just two pokemon if I am to clash against The Violet City Gym..." muttered Adam, keeping his eyes peeled for any other pokemon he could use.

He gave them both a thumb's up and said "I guess I just got lucky." he said, with a chuckle. Hedwig greeted the Totodile with a "Hoot!"

"Kor....do you know what kind of gym the Violet City Gym is? Ive heard each gym has a specialization. I would like to be prepared." Asked Adam. As he watched the Totodile run about happily. Rex ran up and greeted James and Kor again before running over to Chuck and doing the same.

Kor looked over at Adam, and smiled. He folded his arms as he looked at him. He thought about the Violet City Gym in his head, and remembering what he knew about it. He was also looking forward to his first Gym Battle. "The Gym Leader there specializes in Flying-type Pokemon. His name is Falkner. You might want to be careful when battling him, his Flying-type Pokemon could be tricky." Said Kor, talking to Adam.

"Hmmm....the first battle on the journey and its already a struggle against a speedy opponent with plenty of mobility..... I suppose flying pokemon would be a good idea in terms of mobility." Says Adam. "Electric, Rock, and Ice type attacks would be the most effective..." Adam explains he then looked at Totodile "....and that would be step one..."

"Yeah." Chuck said, petting the Totodile when it went over to him. "It'll definitely be a challenge, though we may find an electric type or two on the way there. We're also in a mountainous area right now, so there may be rock types around here."

"I should train Rex... See if I can get him to learn Ice Punch. It should give me an edge against....um." He seems to have already forgotten the gym leaders name. "Falmer was it?"

"I should be good with Gojira, though it wouldn't be a bad idea to train him up either." Chuck said.

Strike took the note from Alexis and said, "Okay. Meet you there soon." Strike said as he then started walking towards the Pokemon Center after picking up Zoda.

Alexis proceeded to walk to her house. Hahari following close behind. When she arrived she put her hands on her hips as she stared at the building. It was just a small cozy home. "Well this is our home Hahari." The girl said to the pokemon as she opened the door. The pokemon entered and then Alexis. "Feel free to explore... Ive got to find a place for Strike to sleep for the night... Probably the living room..."

Adam shakes the thought out of his mind and turns to Chuck. "Maybe tonight we could all go searching for some pokemon and train against them or we could train against eachother, but currently... We need to think about food."

Nurse Joy, had just finished healing Tei's Cyndaquil when he went to check on his Pokemon.

"Thank you very much." Tei bowed his head and took back Quill's Pokeball as Nurse Joy handed it to him with a smile. "Don't hesitate to come again!" She said.

Tei slowly went to sit on one of the couches the Pokemon Center had in order to relax a little. He then proceeded to let his Cyndaquil out of its Pokeball before the Pokemon appeared on its trainer's lap.

"I'm sorry Quill." Tei hugged his Pokemon tightly. "I promise I'll become a better trainer."

"Quil." The Pokemon let out a cry of sadness and a tear fell from Tei's eye before he quickly wiped it away.

"No more sadness! Let's strive to be the best instead and always keep smilling!" A confident smile appeared on Tei's face and Quill growled in happiness and excitement.

Strike smiled as he received Zoda back from Nurse Joy, as she was able to heal Zoda without any need for the Pokeball. She also handed back the Pokeball containing Lady Dark after he wanted to have it checked. "Your Pokemon really are special, both of them have their hidden abilities. If you ever need anything, please feel free to come back here." Nurse Joy said. "Okay thank you." Strike said as he took his Pokemon and walked over to Tei. "That is the attitude you need. Just try your best, keep calm and relaxed, and always smile, and you can be a great trainer and person. So is there anything else you need?" Strike asked Tei.

Tei had no words to say.

All the hate ge felt towards Strike was gone.

Now he seemed like a goal. Someone he wanted to surpass no matter what and someone that could grow to become a great friend and rival.

"Make sure to train hard because next time we will be WAY stronger!" Tei told him with a confident smile and then offered his hand. "Let's meet again."
