Never played Warcraft, but maybe this movie will finally make me buy the game.

Hopefully this movie will give me a reason NOT to buy any of the games and be able to enjoy the story from the film itself.

If you are scared of the story from being spoiled from World of Warcraft don't be too afraid. WoW is built on Warcraft (the RTS games the movie is based on) but a lot of its story is in the past at this point. There are still major spoilers if they tend to go into Warcraft sequels though.

If its because you don't want to get influenced into buying it, then good luck lmao. Blizzard is strong when it comes to addiction.

A new expansion would be right around that time, so you might be just in time. I'm pretty sure a lot of new subscribers are going to join up and have insane fun and its gonna be great to see.

Are people... actually going to see this? I mean, some nice visuals, sure, but laughably cheesy dialog and a paper-thin plot don't instill me, the casual moviegoer who happens to know about video games, with much confidence. Who's their audience besides people who play WoW?

Cheesy lines has been Blizzard's thing but its being developed by Legendary mainly so I am not so sure. It's probably not going to be as bad. They probably wanted a cool trailer.

Don't take my word for it, but others who played Warcraft 1 knows that the plot is not paper thin. Trailers aren't supposed to spoil the story, and this trailer is not gonna do it either. It gave enough info for you to get the overall gist.

I think the same argument could be made for Lord of The Rings which still makes people feel too high fantasy for those who never saw it but is still a fantastic movie for those who do. Its intimidating. And they made it clear they are going to make the movie for the casual audience too. Avatar was watched a lot because of how nice it looked, which Warcraft is already pushing the boundaries of. So that alone might get of the casual audience interested.

But yeah I get the idea of an intimidating genre.

The complaints from the trailer have been pretty ridiculous to be honest. I for one am very excited to see this film. While my exposure to Warcraft mainly stems from WoW, I still respect the RTS games. I'm not an RTS kinda guy so the original Warcraft games are tough for me to get into, but these are all characters I'm familiar with even if I've had to read up on them.

The CGI no doubt will be fine in the final film and the dialogue will actually have context too. It bugs me that some fans and non-fans alike are judging a 2-minute trailer. If the film is successful (it is called Warcraft: The Beginning for pete's sake), then no doubt they will add in more races from the Horde & Alliance and maybe even give us Arthas on the big screen! :D

The world they have shown looks simply breathtaking.

My favourite comment I've seen today regarding the film was,

"Warcraft games have such good CGI Blizzard should make a movie."

"OMG there's too much CGI!"

Was the trailer perfect? No, but no trailer ever is.

Am I still hyped? Of course, 10th June here I come! :D

Same here I never played the RTS games but I have played WoW (started in WoTLK).

Seeing Arthas's story will absolutely be huge and I would love them forever. Especially if they play Invincible or make an amazing trailer.

They already showed High Elves and Dwarves in that Stormwind scene.

Can't wait for Night Elves though, they are going to be gorgeous.

That comment is everything wrong with the people ripping on CGI in a nutshell. Its based off a very stylized game with Orcs and floating cities to floating rocks. Sorry Azeroth wasn't available in the real world. Should've hired real Orcs from Draenor I guess.

Mhmm the trailer wasn't super duper fantastic but that doesn't mean the movie is going to be bad. Its a good trailer. Its the first one too.

I'm not sold on this CGI/Live Action mix they have going here.   They seem to be retconning stuff too.  Shouldn't the orcs still be corrupted by Mannoroth at this point?

I don't completely know.

Putting it in tags in case someone doesn't want a bit spoiled

I know for a fact there were multiple times that the Azeroth was invaded by the Orcs before the good orcs stayed and did there thing. There are green orcs.

But the main orc guy is Durotar who was not influenced by the demon drinking and he did not partake with the other clans who joined the legion. Which is why he is brown and why the orcs with him are brown. The green orcs are the ones influenced.

Thrall (the weird baby) is green because fel energy is going everywhere which is why they need to leave asap to Azeroth.
