Under orders of the current reigning Hokage Naruto Uzumaki, Konohagakure has reached an alliance with Tarinai Village, a small, recently formed ninja village host to many new budding ninja clans. The village head reached out to Uzumaki in hopes of economic stability due to the village’s poor recession as of late, and thus, the alliance has allowed Tarinai ninja to make their stay in Konoha and work with Konoha’s crop of shinobi...

|| "WELCOME TO KONOHA" Arc -- START ||

An early afternoon is usually a busy one for the citizens of Konoha, but even more so now that visitors from Tarinai Village were making their stay at the most frequent pace. Houses were being bought, carriages of supplies were being carried throughout the streets, and some citizens took to exploring the cityscape to get a good read of their new home.

Two in particular, both young boys, stood outside the Hokage's Office, having just left after finishing their record transfers to become official Konoha shinobi, including being given official Konoha shinobi headbands.

"Not too shabby, huh Koukon? I mean, I really feel like a shinobi now. Things are lookin' great so far," Kinniku said, tying his headband to his right arm. The very sight of a headband was impressive to Kinniku due to Tarinai's funding not even being able to supply headbands at all.

"Oh, so you want to gang up on me do you? Well fine! I'll leave both of you uggos in the dirt! Nobody insults a gentleman like me!!" Inojin said, already making his way towards Koukon and Rizumu. Chocho, however, held him back.

"Stop it! You've landed us in hot water once already!" she said.

"Yeah guys, come on. It's not worth it." Kinniku said, turning around to seperate Koukon and Rizumu from Chocho and Inojin.

"What, are you afraid of seeing your uggo friends get a beating?! Don't worry, I'll beat them so bad that they'll actually look decent!" Inojin said, face colored a deep red and eyes looking like they were going to bulge out of his head.

"Hey, what's going on?!" said a new voice, not belonging to any of the surrounding ninja, coming from the entrance of the grounds. In came the source: a boy with blonde hair wearing a black jacket, accompanied by another boy with pale skin and wearing a blue robe, and a girl in red wearing glasses.

"Hey Shikadai, you told me that we were going to have a team sparring match, who are these guys?" The blonde boy asked.

"Don't look at me. I didn't invite them," Shikadai said, actually taking his eyes off the clouds for a moment.

"Oh yeah, that's right, we were supposed to do that... heh, sorry, we kinda got caught up with some other stuff," Chocho said.

"It's fine, Chocho," said the girl with the glasses.

"You must be from Tarinai Village. It would make sense since we don't recognize you," said the boy with pale skin.

Koukon and Rizumu were going to argue, but before they could, a new group suddenly arrived. The two ninja both put the issue behind them for now, instead directing their attention towards the newcomers. "Yeah, we're all from Tarinai. I'm Rizumu Onkyou. These two are Kinniku and-"

"Koukon Yougan. It's a pleasure to meet you, miss." Koukon instantly interrupted, now standing just in front of the new girl. "Want to go get some food?" He asked calmly, but a slight smirk was present on his face.

Rizumu sighed. I'd step in, but I should probably see if this girl can handle herself...

Sarada slightly blushed at Koukon's immediate action, never being in a position where a boy had openly asked her out, nor all that comfortable with the position in the first place. Still, she stayed composed for the most part as she adjusted her glasses.

"Uh, sorry, er, Koukon, but I'll have to pass," she said.

"You'd be wise to accept his offer, Sarada. It's not every day that a young girl such as yourself catches the eye of a complete stranger," Mitsuki said.

"I said that I'll have to pass!" Sarada said to Mitsuki, who was still wearing the same unassuming yet condescending grin even as he apologized, only raising Sarada's ire even more even as she calmed down. Boruto looked on in annoyance but also grateful that Sarada was yelling at somebody other than him at the moment.

"Hey hey hey, move aside, I've had dibs on her since the Academy!" Inojin said, the wannabe cassanova quickly shoving Koukon out of the way so that he may have his chance with Sarada.

"Pardon the interruption, Sarada, but whenever I'm in your presence, I simply cannot help but wonder how beautiful you would be if you were to remove your glasses. I'm sure you would be absouletly ravishing," Inojin said. Before Sarada could respond, Chocho immediately clonked Inojin on the back of his head,

"Would you knock it off already?!" she said.

"Oww! ... ugh, how about you knock off this sudden obsession with hitting me already?"

Chocho once again apologized for his brother's behavior before dragging him away by his ear, even as he continued to whine.

"Okaaaay, now going back to my original question, who are you guys supposed to be?" Boruto asked.

"Well, as your friend here said earlier, we're from Tarinai. Name's Kinniku Mariki," Kinniku said, then motioning to both his teammates. "This is Rizumu Onkyou, and the overeager loverboy over here is Koukon Yougan. I should probably say sorry for what he pulled, too."

"Believe me, we're used to it thanks to Inojin over there. Oh and my name's Sarada Uchiha," Sarada said.

"I'm Mitsuki. It's very nice to meet you," Mitsuki said.

"And I'm Boruto Uzumaki!" Boruto said.

"Oh, so you're the famous son of the Hokage. Well, I can definitely see the family resemblance," Kinniku said. "And of course I can't forget about you, Sarada. I gotta say, on top of meeting Chocho and Inojin, ironically enough, I must be pretty lucky to bump into so many people with a lot of famous blood pumpin' into 'em."

Edited by Firaga Sensei

Koukon barely managed to keep himself from trying to clobber Inojin himself. Fortunately, even Tarinai's hot-blooded ninja knew when to remain calm when he had to. He just glared at Inojin and kept his thoughts to himself. He was completely distracted once he heard about the identity of the three shinobi that had just arrived, though. "Wait... Uzumaki? Uchiha? No way... I didn't think we'd end up meeting the kids of the most powerful ninja in the village so quickly!" He exclaimed, giving both Boruto and Sarada a look of admiration. That means... Oh man, I was trying to flirt with the daughter of Sasuke Uchiha! He hoped that it wasn't easy to tell how nervous he was after that revelation. For all he knew, that could have ended horribly for him...

Rizumu, while impressed by the lineage of Boruto and Sarada, was a bit confused by Mitsuki. "Hey, Mitsuki... If you don't mind me asking, what clan are you from? If you're on a team with these two, you've got to have parents that are really well known, right?" She asked curiously.

  • Author

"I only have one parent actually. Still, I can say with full confidence that my parent is much more impressive than any of Boruto's or Sarada's," Mitsuki said.

"Oh great, here he goes again..." Boruto said, Sarada silently sharing the same thought as she adjusted her glasses annoyingly.

"That's a mighty fine boast there. So do you have a mom or a dad?" Kinniku asked.

"It's hard to say really," Boruto said, making Kinniku raise an eyebrow.

"He is a male. And his name is Orochimaru," Mitsuki answered.

"Ohhh, Orochimaru. Well, I guess he's not wrong, he's pretty up there in terms of-HEY, wait a minute!" Kinniku cried, almost falling over on the ground due to shock. "Your dad's Orochimaru? Missing-nin? Akatsuki alumni? Succeeded in attacking the village and making Sasuke Uchiha go rogue? Is very creepy in general? That Orochimaru?"

"Well, yes, that's all accurate but he's changed now," Sarada said. "Well, maybe not changed, but based on what we know, he's at least on better terms with the village than he was about a few years ago at least."

"Oh. Well, sorry for the outburst I guess. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings or anything, Mitsuki," Kinniku said.

"It's quite alright. No matter what anybody says about him, I'll always admire my father," Mitsuki said.

  • 3 weeks later...

Koukon was shocked to hear that Mitsuki's father was Orochimaru. He heard stories about how evil and generally creepy the man was. He had a child this laid back and weird? Rizumu was equally surprised. The two both stood still for a moment before getting back to reality. Koukon gave a nervous laugh. "Well, hey, if he's made up for everything that he did before, he's fine in my mind! After all, some of the shinobi I look up to weren't always heroes..." He didn't want to give Mitsuki the wrong impression with his initial reaction. Besides, what he said about his heroes was true. Maybe Orochimaru would turn out the same way.

"Yeah, that's true! We can't always hold his past against him, right?" Rizumu joined in to try and lighten the mood further. "If everything's been settled and he's an ally of the village, then there's nothing to worry about anymore." After that light note, she shifted the topic a bit. "It's so cool that a lot of you Leaf ninja have such well-known parents... No one in our village is like that."

  • Author

"So are we gonna spar or what?" Boruto said. "Pretty sure all the introductions are outta the way."

"Well, there's still the matter of us using the training grounds up in the air," Kinniku said.

"Agh, come on! Okay okay, look, here's a deal: since you want to use this place so badly, me and my team'll take you on three against three. Winners stay and losers leave. Sound fair?"

"Boruto, you're being rude! They're new to the village, we should be more courteous!" Sarada said, putting her hands on her hips.

"Quit bellyachin', Sarada, this is just my way of introducing the newbies. A little challenge never hurt anybody" Boruto said, firmly planting his hand on Sarada's shoulder and in turn making her almost lose her balance. Typical stupid Boruto. He drives me up the wall... Sarada thought as she straightened up her posture and fixed her glasses.

"Really, it's fine on our end. Right guys?" Kinniku said, turning towards his teammates. "How's about we show these Hidden Leaf guys how Tarinai Village does things?"

Edited by Firaga Sensei

"I'm down for a fight." Koukon instantly rebounded from his nervous demeanor he held earlier. "We might not be from prodigious families like they are, but it's time for us to prove that we can be just as tough." He drove his fist into the opposite hand's palm and gave a confident grin. "I hope you're ready to face the power of the heir to the Yougan Clan!"

Rizumu smirked after seeing Koukon's rather energetic response. "Yeah, I'll join in, too. I've got to prove my strength to you two, anyway. This should be a good first fight for us as a team!"

  • Author

"Sounds like a plan then," Kinniku said, flashing his teammates a quick thumbs up before facing back towards Boruto and his team.

"We're ready when you are," Kinniku added, cracking his knuckles.

"Awesome!" Boruto exclaimed before looking over Kinniku's shoulder to relay a message to the Ino-Shika-Cho. "Oh yeah Shikadai, you guys should probably find a place to--... huh?"

Boruto's sudden pause caused Kinniku to turn around towards where Boruto was staring, and found that the ino-Shika-Cho were nowhere in sight. In actuality, Shikadai got tired of waiting and went back into the village, while Chocho was still busying trying to rear in Inojin's temper and was having a hard time paying attention their training anyway.

"... Okay then... so I guess we're just sparring for our own sake then," Kinniku said.

"Right. Nothing wrong with that. So then, who's going against who? I assume that you'll probably want to take on me, considering I'm, uh, heh, the leader and all," Boruto said cockily, making Sarada visibly annoyed while Mitsuki still kept his neutral expression.

"Actually, I want to take on Sarada," Kinniku said, resulting in a slight face vault in Boruto and Sarada to drop her annoyance and replace it with astonishment. "She's Sakura Haruno's daughter, which means that she's got chakra enhanced strength. I want to see how that matches up against the Mariki Clan's abilities. Sound fair?"

"Uh... sure, I guess. Sarada?" Boruto asked.

"I have no problem with that. I'm sure that we'll both be a nice challenge for one another," Sarada said.

"That leaves me and Mitsuki against either the two of you then... hmm... Koukon, right? You and I should go!" Boruto said.

"And I would be very interested to fight against you, Rizumu. From what I've researched, your clan has a very special kekkai genkai. I myself have very unique abilities as well, all inherited from my parent," Mitsuki said.

Koukon was also a bit surprised that Kinniku wanted to face off against Sarada. He figured that his friend would rather go up against the Hokage's son. Of course, this meant that he could show off to both Rizumu and Sarada in his battle, and prove to both that he was a cool guy. This made him a bit more energetic. He gave Boruto a wide grin and began to speak loudly. "Yeah, I'd be fine with that! After all, I can't prove myself as a hero if I back out of a battle against the Hokage's kid!" He exclaimed, then quickly glanced at both Sarada and Rizumu, hoping they were paying attention. "Time to show the Leaf Village what the Yougan Clan can do!"

Rizumu blushed a bit after hearing Mitsuki's past experience with her clan. She didn't think that the clan was so well known to people in the Leaf Village... Of course, this didn't mean she had no interest in fighting the boy. Even if he seemed a bit odd, he would be an interesting opponent. She had no clue what to expect out of him, which made the idea of fighting him even more interesting. "Yes, we do have a special kekkei genkai. If you've got something similar to that, this should be a good match." She nodded, her face now returned to its former color. "Alright, I accept your challenge. Don't hold back!" She spoke in a confident tone.

"So then, Sarada, how about you and I start out?" Kinniku said.

"Alright," Sarada said.

The teams both then separate, leaving Kinniku and Sarada facing each other on the main stretch of the grounds while their teammates looked on from the logs.

Kinniku and Sarada formed the Seal of Confrontation, and settled into their fighting stances.

"If you ask me, this Kinniku guy is over his head. Anybody who tries getting the best of Sarada gets smacked down," Boruto said.

"We should have patience. We haven't even seen them begin yet," Mitsuki said.

"Yeah yeah, sure. Still, if he thinks he's gonna beat the woman who's gonna be the next Hokage, then he's got another thing coming."

"Heh, you haven't seen Kinniku in action yet." Koukon spoke in a confident manner. "The two of us have trained together for ages, and I know how tough he is. There's no way he'd go down that easily!" He kept his gaze focused on the two in the center of the arena. I am interested in seeing how Sarada fights, though... Maybe I shouldn't write her off so soon.

"Uh... Maybe we should just see how this plays out instead of placing our bets before they even start. Both have got to be tough, right?" Rizumu stayed neutral, mainly because she hadn't seen either of them fight yet. She wanted Kinniku to win, since they were teammates. However, she didn't want to come off as too cocky.

I really don't want to beat around the bush with this one. I need to see if her strength is comparable to mine. Kinniku thought.

"Hey Sarada, go ahead and give me all you got, okay? You don't have to go easy on me," Kinniku said.

"I wasn't planning on it. At the same time, I'd like to ask that you do the same," Sarada said, adjusting her glasses.

"Sure thing..." Kinniku said, before suddenly pausing and then wearing a devious grin. "Of course, maybe I should."

"Huh?"

"I mean, you are a girl after all. Being careful would be just be courteous."

"Ugh, seriously? Do you really think that kind of attitude is still acceptable in today's time? Girls are strong too!"

"Why can I say, I'm old school. And it's not that I don't think girls aren't strong either... just that girl can be stronger than me."

Sarada began to seeth as she gathered chakra into her balled fist, emanating a clear blue glow. Kinniku smiled, not to further taunt Sarada but because of how genuinely impressed he was at what he was seeing. In a matter of seconds, Sarada was already running towards Kinniku, fist raised and ready to unleash all of her enhanced strength onto Kinniku's noggin.

"Cha!!" She cried, the fist connecting harshly... although after a few moments passed, Sarada stood in shock at the result of her blow: She had indeed hit Kinniku... but he had not moved one inch from where he stood before, and was not even showing a sign of pain either. Instead he stood in place, slightly hunched forward, with Sarada's fist resting against his forehead.

"That was exactly everything that I had hoped for," Kinniku stating, straightening up as Sarada took her fist back. "Let's hope that you can keep it up now that I know what to expect." He added, settling into a fighting stance as Sarada quickly backed away to a safe distance and settled into her own fighting stance. So he was tricking me in order to to test my strength... this guy seems confident of himself. And considering what I've learned about the Mariki Clan, he probably has some merit to back it up too...

"W-What the heck was that? He just stood there and took Sarada's punch like it was nothing!" Boruto said, flabbergasted.

"It seems our comrade from Tarinai is fairly hard-headed, wouldn't you agree?" Mitsuki quipped.

Boruto expression drooped as Mitsuki's comment automatically made him sigh and pinch the brim of his nose. "Mitsuki, just... stop. Please."

"Heh. I knew that she wouldn't be able to get him that easily." Koukon smirked as he marveled at his friend's strategy. "His whole clan's too tough to be moved by an attack like that."

Rizumu was as amazed as Boruto. "Wow... I didn't realize that he was that sturdy."

"Hey, if you think he's tough, wait until I'm up in the ring. I'll make sure you're impressed." Koukon flexed his seemingly nonexistent muscles, and Rizumu sighed.

Kinniku formed a set of hand seals and cried: "Earth Style: Stone Cannon!" He then stamped the ground with his right foot and made a giant mass of earth from the ground below rise up and form into a rock, then palming the rock and shooting it straight forward at Sarada.

The kunoichi responded by jumping into the air to dodge the rock. However, Kinniku responded by continuously sending even more rocks at her, this time sending over three at one time. Sarada decided not to dodge and instead use her chakra enchanted strength to shatter them into bits with her fists.

Kinniku tried to take advantage of the distraction by weaving through the air and attacking Sarada up close, but she countered by pulling out a Fuma Shuriken and throwing it towards him. Kinniku paused in mid-air to dodge the shuriken, completely missing any chance to further attack. He landed back onto the ground while Sarada charged up her fist with chakra and barreled downwards on him.

Kinniku quickly turned around and countered with a punch of his own, effectively canceling out the strength of Sarada's and also creating a small wave of wind to brush over the surrounding area, including the others watching from afar. They quickly shielded their eyes.

"Seriously, where does he get all that strength?!" Boruto said as Kinniku and Sarada once again got some distance with one another.

"It's like his clan's specialty. They're all super tough." Koukon explained, hands behind his head and slightly reclining. "The Leaf might have more of the well-known clans, but don't underestimate the clans of Tarinai. We're all just as tough. Just wait until you see what I can do." He once again tried to draw a bit of attention from the girls towards himself.

Rizumu sighed. "That is true... I don't think I've ever seen either of your clans in action, though... I guess that means that we'll all get some surprises here."

We keep ending up in stalemates. There has to be some weakness that he has... Sarada thought, trying to think up a strategy.

Kinniku simply watched on and kept focus on Sarada's movements. I can tell that she's hitting a bit of a brick wall right now... that must mean that I have the upper hand. Still, I'll need to keep focus. One false move and the momentum could shift completely in her favor.

Hmm... looks like he's going on the defensive. Now's my chance! Sarada then pulled out a Fuma Shuriken and before unfolding it formed hand seals. Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu! She shot a fireball out of her mouth towards Kinniku, who was already blowing through his own hand seals. "Earth Style: Mud Wall!" He cried, bringing up a giant wall made of earth to block the fireball, the impact creating a thick layer of dust on Sarada's side. Quickly, Sarada then unfolded the shuriken and threw it forward. The Fuma Shuriken lit up with Lightning chakra and although the Earth style wall blocked the Fire Style attack with ease, the Fuma Shuriken blew straight throug the wall afterwards, catching Kinniku off guard.

"What the-?!" Kinniku cried, almost being skewered by the shuriken in a single blow if not for barely dodging it by jumping into the air. However, he was so thrown off that he didn't notice Sarada suddenly appear behind him, diving forward with a straight kick connecting to his back and sending him forward onto his chest. Slowly getting up, Sarada appeared in front of him once more. "Agh... h-how did you..."

Sarada adjusted her glasses. "Don't underestimate the Uchiha!" She said, already charging her fists up for more blows. Kinniku quickly sprang up and began trading blows with Sarada, the battle now boiling down to a simple hand-to-hand brawl.

"I don't get it! How did she do that? It went by so fast that I couldn't pick up on it," Boruto said.

"It's very simple, Boruto. She correctly predicted that when she used her Fireball jutsu against Kinniku, he would use an Earth style technique to block it, also knowing that Earth Style is strong against Fire Style. However, she had the Fuma Shuriken in her hands in order to quickly follow up the Fireball with what she calls the "Lightning Flicker", the technique you saw when she covered the shuriken in Lightning chakra. She hid behind the wall and waited for the right moment to jump over the wall and throw the shuriken because in the dust, she secretly used the Shadow Shuriken Jutsu, allowing her to hide under her original shuriken as a shadow and then transform back after the original had already been thrown, then initiating her counter-attack."

"Man, how did you pick all of that up, Mitsuki?"

"Wasn't it obvious?" Mitsuki said with a grin, irritating Boruto and making him pout at his lack of intelligence.

  • 3 weeks later...

Koukon was just as surprised as Boruto. "No way... Kinniku, come on! I know you're tougher than that!" He cheered. But that means I'm against Sarada... Oh man, I don't know who to go for...

Rizumu remained still. "That was a pretty smart move on her part... Maybe this won't be as one-sided as it looked at first." She commented.

  • Author

Kinniku and Sarada continued to fight, both using up the last of their stamina.

Now, to settle this! Sarada thought, pulling out a kunai with intent to use it on Kinniku.

"Not so fast!" Kinniku cried, attempting to stop the incoming Sarada with a solid punch to her chest. However, using her speed, Sarada sidestepped the punch and grabbed onto to Kinniku's arm. Using his forward momentum, she turned around and threw Kinniku over her shoulder, pinning him down with her foot while holding his arm in one hand and raising the kunai towards his neck with the other.

"Whoo-hoo! That's the way, Sarada, way to go!!" Boruto cheered.

"A very impressive win indeed," Mitsuki replied.

Kinniku lightly chuckled. "Didn't think it would end like this. I wanted to see more of your monster strength."

"Strength can be impressive, but I'm more than just my brawn. I've got brains too." Sarada said, smiling.

"Ah. I see what you mean," Kinniku said, Sarada helping him up to his feet. "Still, this was just our first encounter. Don't think I won't hold you to a rematch. And next time, I'll be even stronger and smarter than I was today."

"Then it's a date!" Kinniku said.

"A-A date?" Sarada said, her cheeks going red. "N-no, it's not a date, it's just, uh, a--"

"Ha ha ha, calm down, Brainiac! I didn't mean that kind of date," Kinniku said, poking Sarada in the forehead to get her attention back. "'Sides, you're not really the kind of girl I'd go for anyway. No offense." Kinniku started laughing once more.

Sarada, holding her forehand in slight aggravation, started blushing again, only this time it was coupled with irritation. "Well, for your information, you're not really my type either, Musclehead!" She said, using her free arm to sock Kinniku in the arm, actually causing him to winch in pain.

With both young ninja holding their selves in pain for a moment, they looked back at each other and burst out in laughter together. They were both being silly, but they each took it as a sentiment to their newfound respect and friendship for one another. Then, after they officially ended their duel by making the Seal of Reconciliation with one another, they headed back over to the others.

"Well well, looks like it's one-nothin'! Looks like we're already in the lead!" Boruto taunted Kinniku.

"Ease up there, blondie, we're not finished yet. We still have two matches left. Speaking of which, we need to decide who's going next."

"I'll go next!" Koukon shouted energetically. "Besides, it sounds like my opponents raring to go, too." He grinned. "If anyone can make up for Kinniku's blunder up there, it's me." He puffed his chest out to act tough, getting in a quick wink at Rizumu before stepping up towards the center of the field.

Rizumu sighed. "If you get distracted like that, you're bound to screw it up." She spoke in a brutally honest tone, making Koukon laugh nervously.

"Hey, don't worry! I get super serious when I fight, I promise." He called back. However, as he passed Sarada, he decided to whisper to her. "If Kinniku's not your type, I'd be glad to take you on a date myself." He smirked, then kept moving ahead, trying to look cool as he did so. "Hey, Boruto, you coming or what?!" He shouted back towards the stands, anxious to fight.

"Well, seems as though you've gotten some new suitors, Sarada," Mitsuki said to Sarada, angering her red with both anger and nervousness.

"Heh. Don't get too cocky, Koukon. Remember that you're dealing with the man who will become a greater shinobi than the Seventh Hokage!" Boruto boasted as he and Koukon set up, putting his hand up for the Seal of Confrontation.

  • 2 weeks later...

"Heh, I'll surpass him, too. One day, I'll be known as the great hero of Tarinai!" Koukon responded, grinning as he formed the Seal of Confrontation with Boruto.

Once the battle began, Koukon quickly jumped back away from Boruto, trying to evade any sudden close-range attacks that could follow. Once he was a safe distance away, Koukon formed a few handseals. "Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!" A massive fireball formed in front of him and shot towards Boruto. He hoped that his looked at least a little cooler than Sarada's; he knew that the Uchiha Clan was well-known for their proficiency in Fire Style techniques, and he didn't want to fall behind.

  • Author

"Heh. Please." Boruto said, running towards the nearby lake as the fireballs followed him.

Boruto then used some hand seals of his own. "Water Style: Water Shield Jutsu!" He cried, commanding the water behind him to cover him in a thick ball liquid which dowsed the fireballs upon impact, leaving Boruto without a scratch on him.

"Wow, that's some pretty good nature usage on his part. Does he know more than just Water Style?" Kinniku asked.

"As as matter of fact, he does. He is also skilled in both Lightning Style and Wind Style as well," Mitsuki answered.

"Seems like Koukon's got his work cut out for him then."

"Only if he doesn't get too overconfident... of course, that would be nearly impossible for him to pull off," Sarada scoffed.

  • 2 weeks later...

Koukon was a bit shocked to see Boruto's counter to his technique. If he can use the Water Style, I'm at a disadvantage in this field... I guess I'll have to try something a bit more traditional. Koukon quickly formulated a plan in his mind. Right now, it might be best to focus on close-ranged combat. Maybe I can even work in one of the new moves I've been practicing...

Koukon stood his ground far away from Boruto, keeping a close eye on his opponent while shouting at him. "Long range attacks won't work, huh?" He smirked, and formed the Boar handseal. "In that case, how about I try..." Koukon disappeared in a flash. He instantly reappeared just in front of Boruto. "This?" He aimed a fist at Boruto's chin for an uppercut attack, hoping that his sudden burst of speed would be enough to stun his opponent for a moment.

"What was that?!" Rizumu inquired in a surprised tone. "That wasn't an ordinary Teleportation Jutsu, was it...?"

"Nope. That's called Swift Style. It's the Yougan Clan's speciality," Kinniku said.

"Wow!" Sarada and Mitsuki said in unison, having been exposed to the Kekkai Genkai for the first time.

Boruto had stood his ground and seemed to be anticipating Koukon's attack. Still, he took Koukon's fist in full force, the impact knocking him upwards into the air. However, he expressed no real anguish and immediately after, he disappeared in a puff of smoke, his body then replaced with a log.

"Substitution? Well, if it ain't broke, don't fix it," Kinniku said.

Boruto, the real one, was then situated in a tree directly above the battlefield. Looks like Koukon has a good close-range game... but unfortunately for him, so do I... I just need to make sure he'll stay put so I can get my hits on him exactly what I want 'em.

He then formed a cross sign with his hands, the hand seal producing three more Borutos stationed next to the original. Now for the old man's technique to keep him busy. He then commanded the three clones to jump out of the tree and pounce down on Koukon.

"And now he's using Shadow Clones. He really is the Seventh Hokage's blood."
