Who here got a high score in the SAT?

Posted

I'm going to retake the next SAT (Jan 23rd) and I'm want to ask a few questions.

Not gonna lie its seriously so boring. The math was much more "funner" though compared to the reading passages. Like I don't have the time to read the passages thoroughly but some questions are just asking for it.  Yes and no.The good thing is that it is everything an average high school student knows without taking any advanced courses. From normal reading, sentence comprehension, Algebra, Geometry, etc. is what you'll see on the exam. But since that is too easy and the College Board that create these exams want them to be challenging they have to twist them in a way to the point that it is some bizarre version of the Regents (or if there is another name for those big tests at the end of the year for other states). So you gotta study for the type of test you'll be dealing with. It has less to do with knowing your material and more to do with knowing how the test works. But I can't say this 100% anymore since the new SAT is coming up after the January 23rd one, which is the final current SAT.  Halfway through it gets boring. Even practicing is boring. But at least you scored high.  That's high but I'm actually shooting for more than that for the uni im interested in haha.My question would be studying wise but I guess you wont be able to answer that. But shit son how did you get so high.  Did ya study?  Why does no one study and have these high scores?  Are you going to college soon? Almost all 'good' NYC schools want a good SAT score. Its a stupid exam but its not like we got any choice.  Saaaame except my 2nd test my writing was better than my other scores.  We have something like that called the State Tests (unless im mistaken). Its what we took in Elementary and Middle school. They don't matter anymore either for us.High School we went into Regents, which honestly not many colleges give a damn unless you failed them.  Alright just know you'll be dealing with a new version of the SAT (you are probably told this constantly) and that I am not sure how much of a change it is from the current one.Study a lot and remember you can take the test multiple times. And if superscores are still around, you can try abusing that method. I might do that if my January score doesn't please me.

Lol study? I never study. :P

I'm gonna admit I got 1380. ^^' it's embarrassing but that's what I got. It's partially because like by the end I was just so done with the test. I couldn't even like read properly at that point. It sucks because I graduated with a 3.5 GPA for my Senior year of High School with honors for my state. I even got an 100 in my English finals and 90s on my other finals (I think I got a 97 in Algebra 2) so I hope whatever school I decide to go to will be fine with that. I feel like it's unfair because some people are really smart and get such good grades but are bad test takers or are just unlucky with the SATs. At least there's the ACTs I guess.

SAT is just one of the many factors, but unis still hold it high. Like if you want, you can try aiming for a 1500.

And if you have such an issue then do it the superscore way. Where you do 3 SATs but focus on one of the section for each section (Math, Reading or Writing) since all the grades are superscored.

For example in case I lost ya:

(SAT) - (Math/Reading/Writing)

First SAT - (800/300/400)

Second SAT - (300/800/400)

Third SAT - (300/400/800)

Superscore - (800/800/800)

Colleges care about the superscore more than individual scores if you got any.

And if you don't know what superscore is, its if you take multiple test only the highest score of that section counts. The 300's and 400's wont count since 800's is the highest.

Man you lot are lucky you only need to take the one test to get into uni. We've got to take gcses at 15/16 and then AS Level at 16/17 then A2's at 17/18 but before those summer exams we have mock examinations, and you might think that you don't need them and they're useless, but actually the mock grades are the ones that the sixth form/college/uni look at and then you'll be given offers from different unis. And don't even get me started on bloody UCAS. So really pretty much all the exams we do actually mean something. Which sucks

We have ACT and SAT but some colleges prefer one over the other.

Thats a lot of tests. Its like if our Regents and Finals counted toward applications.

My school does this thing where if you are taking the Regents for that class, your final is a mock exam despite it still counting as a grade.

Im sorry but how long SAT is? Everyone is saying how long it takes and how you are so tired at the end of it.

That's genius.

Hm... From what I remember, the test for me started at like 7:30 and I was done with it by 1:30? Definitely more than like three hours.
